Once again you're Mario and you must make your way through many treacherous landscapes whether it be over lands, over oceans, over air and many other places. You're probably thinking  well it's most likely the same exact story as always right, in which Mario must save Princess Peach from the evil clutches of Bowser and it takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom correct? Well that is incorrect as you do not save Princess Peach but a different Princess named Daisy and you also travel through a land called Sarasaland and not the Mushroom Kingdom and the main villain is also not Bowser but an alien called Tatanga. But let's move onto the actually review now that we have the introduction out of the way.


Graphics: 7 out of 10

The graphics in this game are definitely not the best on the Gameboy compared to games like Zelda: Link's Awakening or Metroid II: Return of Samus but it is still has good graphics for being the first game in the Gameboy trilogy. All the backgrounds from the 4 worlds in this game are very detailed and have some gimmicks involved like having a path that you can enter only when you are small Mario. Other than that the graphics in the sequels are far better than this one so I can only give a 7 out of 10 for this game.


Sound: 10 out of 10

Unlike the graphics portion of this game the sound in this game is still as great as the Mario games have always been, nostalgic and entertaining.  All of the songs that play in each world and the boss songs fit the zone and boss perfectly such as the ocean level having a relaxing and interesting feel to it, and then when you compared it to something like the 4th worlds theme which is Chai Kingdom and it is basically centered around a Chinese style layout with a samurai or warrior type theme song that you would hear in a child's tv show or something like that. Also the sound effects are also great and memorable between jumping on a goomba to firing a fireball out of your hand. A great job and effort on the programmers part so a perfect score of 10 out of 10 is my score for sound here.


Addictiveness: 10 out of 10

The addictiveness value in this game is great as when you play this game you can unlock 2 different things after beating the game a certain number of times. The first being the expert mode where the game is made to raise the difficulty a bit more harder, this is unlocked by beating the game at least 1 time and there is still one more thing to unlock which is the level select and it is earned by beating the game a second time around and once you have beaten it you can select any level from 1-1 to 4-3 from the title screen. With the music and the graphics in this game you will most likely continue to play this game no matter how many times you have beaten it which earns this once again another perfect score of 10 out of 10.


Story: 7 out of 10

As I explained in my introduction this games takes place in a land called Sarasaland and the main villain is an alien called Tatanga who has kidnapped the Princess Daisy and plans to take over the land, however Mario starts his adventure to save Daisy from Tatanga and he must travel through 4 dangerous lands in order to save the princess of the land. It isn't as great as some of the previous games however it is still a great and enjoyable storyline so at least a 7 out of 10 is what I can rate the story of this game.


Depth: 5 out of 10

This is probably one of and might even be the shortest Mario game made by Nintendo as it is only 12 levels long having 4 worlds with only 3 levels which kind of makes this rating have only a 5 out of 10 and there isn't really much to say other than that so let's move on.

Difficulty: 5 out of 10

This also isn't one of the hardest Mario games as the enemies aren't tough at all and the bosses can be killed very easily when you have a fire flower and the only real thing that makes this game hard is that sometimes you can slip off of platforms. Once again there isn't much else to say here so only a 5 out of 10 is the rating I can give the difficulty for this game.


That's Super Mario Land a game that takes Mario and makes the storyline different from alot of the other games in the series and somehow still makes it entertaining if you have a chance to play this then I'd recommend it.

awesome review.i never knew daisy was in this and if you are meant to save daisy then luigi should have been in this game instead of mario.peach is gonna be mad. LOL

Great Review , I really like this game even if it could be beaten in one day , the only time I played this game was when I downloaded on my 3DS .
