Apparentlly, I got 4th place for blue banner the day before the official results.... boo hoo for me i guess. I noticed what each banner is in an announcement, but what is the point of this tour thing?

It is mainly just for fun. It helps to give users incentive to make posts and get different colored jerseys to wear as awards for each day. There are also awards given to the users who wore each jersey the most at the end of the tour. You aren't allowed to spam or plagiarise to get a jersey, so those who earn them have to do so within the guidelines of site rules. It's just friendly competition for those who are active a lot on the boards, and wish to compete with others to see who has the most activity in different categories.
