I. Introduction

I decided I wanted to start contributing some Walkthroughs for the site because there don't seem to be a great amount of them here and they could be really helpful. I'm going to start with a game I've played in and out. The Walkthrough isn't finished yet, but I'll work on it over time. At least it's a start, right? This should be mostly useable for any version of the game, but I'm playing the SNES version along side it since I do not have the PS1 nor DS versions of the game. I know at least the PS1 version adds a few things (like an extra tech), but as far as progressing the story, it should be the same.

II. Characters

Crono
Element: Lightning
Weapon: Katana

Crono is the main character of the story, and the first one you get to play as. Not much can be said for his personality, because he completely lacks one. He's a mute, never uttering a single line of dialouge in the whole game. However, he is, being the main character, the best character in the game, and essential to your party. Later in the game he gets very good spells, including a Life spell and the strongest attack in the game, Luminare.

Marle
Element: Ice
Weapon: Bow

Marle is the wild and rebellious princess of Guardia, Nadia. She runs into Crono at the Millennial Fair. As the game progresses, she becomes quite fond of him. He's a good healer, but not very good in turns of fighting. She gets Life2 and Cure2, which are very handy, and her attack magic is decent.

Lucca
Element: Fire
Weapon: Gun

Lucca is a scientist and friend of Crono. You first meet her in the game at the Millennial Fair while she's testing out her latest invention. She's very smart and ends up fixing a lot of useful things. Battle-wise, though, she's not very great. Her magic is slightly better than Marle's, but her physical attacks are worse.

Frog
Element: Water
Weapon: Sword

Frog is, as the name implies, a frog. He's the most famous knight in Guardia in the time of 600 A.D. He's a very useful character as he can pretty much do anything. His physical attacks are strong, he can heal, and he can use decent attack magic. He's certainly worth having in your party.

Robo
Element: None
Weapon: Fist

Robo is a robot that was damaged in 2300 A.D. Once repaired, he helps you fight as repayment. Although he has no true element, his laser attacks inflict Shadow damage. He's a powerhouse with some healing ability. Very useful early in the game, but not so much later on.

Ayla
Element: None
Weapon: Glove
Ayla saves you from some prehistoric enemies in 65,000,000 B.C. She's strong and well-respected among the people of her village. Although she has no magical abilities, she makes up for it with strong physical attacks. She's a very good character to have in your party, especially if you're big on combos.

Magus
Element: Shadow
Weapon: Scythe
Magus once your enemy, may become your ally if you let him. This dark wizard isn't very cooperative, though, and will not do any combos unless he's equipped with a special rock. His physical attack is impressive for a magic user, and his magic is probably the best in the game. If you just want sheer power from individual attacks and techs, Magus will make a very good addition to your party. If you're more focused on combos, though, you might not like him.

III. Walkthrough

Millennial Fair

Time to wake up, Crono! After you get out of bed and do your morning stretches, head downstairs and Crono's mother will continue talking. She'll mention his inventor friend, Lucca, invited him to see her new invention at the Millennial Fair in Leene Square. Head outside, and it should be obvious where Leene Square is. It's at the top of with all the balloons. Notice that if you walk up to an entrance, the name of the place will show. Anyway, hit A and enter the fair. You can look around at the various festivities, but they're not really important.

Head straight up and to the right of the water fountain. You'll see a guy with a white mustache standing behind some swords. This is Melchior. Talk to him and he'll offer to sell you weaponry. Might as well, since it's obvious that you will need good weapons in a RPG. All you can afford right now is an Iron Blade, but it's better than your Wooden Sword, so buy it and sell back your old sword. After making your purchase, Melchior will tell you that he lives on the eastern continent. This will be important later. Now head up the stairs and you'll see a girl looking around. If you step in her path, she'll carelessly bump into you and drop her pendant necklace. As she cluelessly looks around for it, go over to it and pick it up. Talk to her and return the pendant. She then asks if you could show her around. Agree and she'll get ecstatic. Now it's time to show her around, but there's not much important in the fair in my opinion. Head left from where you met Marle and head down the stairs. Ignoring all else, walk up and then left to Lucca's battle trainer. This is a nice and easy fight to get a feel for the battle system if you're new to it. You fight a robot named Gato, who I find extremely annoying. Defeat him for 15 Silver Points. Now once you've gotten that out of the way, head back to the center where Leene Bell is. Go down the stairs and talk to the girl sitting on the edge of the fountain. She will tell you that Lucca and her dad have made a crazy invention and that it should be ready by now. Head back up and continue going up and Marle will stop you and ask to get candy. If you try to leave before she's done, she'll get mad, so just wait patiently for her to make up her mind. Once she's gotten her candy, continue up the stairs. Lucca's father, Taban, will be announcing her invention. They ask for volunteers to try it out, but no one obliges. Talk to Lucca and she'll make you the guinea pig for this experiment. Do as she says and hop on the left pod. They fire up the machine, and you get transported to the right pod—a complete success. Go back to Marle and talk to her, and she'll want to try it too. As she steps on, you should notice that the music dies. This is obviously a sign that something bad is about to happen.

As the machine is started, Marle noticed that her pendant is glowing. Sparks then begin to fly from the machine. Something is obviously going wrong! Lucca and Taban get thrown back from the haywire telepod. A portal opens and Marle vanishes into it! Now you may have noticed that she dropped her pendant upon transfer. Go up to it and examine it, and Crono will grab it and step onto the pod. Through the miracle of mute interpretation, Lucca and her father realize that Crono plans to go in after her. They start up the machine again and now you get transferred to the same place as Marle—wherever that is.

The Queen Returns

You end up in a field. Try to exit the screen to the left, and three Blue Imps will pop out of the bushes to attack you. Take care of them easily and exit stage left. Head up the ladder and across the bridge for another fight. By now you should have gained a level and learned your first tech, Cyclone. Go all the way left for a box containing a Tonic and then backtrack and go down from the bridge for a box containing a Power Glove. Head left and down the ladder and you'll see a couple of Blue Imps playing kickball with a Roly. You can just ignore them if you want by walking around, or walk straight to them if you wish to fight. Once you exit the area, you'll find yourself in a town that looks similar to the one from which you came. However, it's missing Leene Square. You could probably use a rest, so do so at Truce Inn. When you wake up you'll notice a chest, but you can't open it now. On the right side of the Inn there's a bar. Talk to the first guy you come to at the bottom and he'll tell you that Queen Leene has just been found. After that, Toma the explorer will walk in and offer to tell you a story if you buy him a drink. His story is old news, as it's about the Queen going missing, and you just heard that she's been found. You might wanna pick up a couple of Tonics at the Market before heading out.

Once you're ready, head over to Guardia forest to the left. Once inside, start to the right side of the forest and stay to the lower right side (don't take the north fork yet) and you'll find a power tab going that way (blue sparkle on the ground). There's a second sparkle on top of a rock, but that one's actually a trap that initiates a battle with two Roly Riders. Now you can backtrack to the fork and head up and around. Eventually you'll see a shaking bush. As noted in the Secrets section, you can get free Shelters here, so grab one real quick and continue onward. After you exit the forest, continue up into the castle and you'll be stopped by the guards. They make fun of you, but then "Queen Leene" orders them to stop. She claims that you're a friend of hers and tells them to let you in. If you talk to the King, he'll comment that the Queen has been acting odd lately. He also says that you can take a free rest in the Knight's quarters downstairs to the left. You may do that if you wish, otherwise head to the right and up. Go up each staircase until you reach the top of the castle. There's a guard in the doorway who informs you that the Queen is waiting for you. Go to her room and talk to her and she'll request privacy. Once her attendants leave, she asks you to come close. Once you do so, she giggles and reveals herself to be Marle. After a bit of talking, you have another music cut, paired with a dramatic darkening in the lighting. Marle panics because she feels something bad is happening to her and then vanishes before your eyes. Nothing to do now but grab that chest in her room for an Ether. Now head back to the stairs and go down two levels. Let's not overlook that chest in there, as it contains another Tonic. Continue down the stairs to the bottom and as you exit, someone yells Crono's name. It's Lucca, who comes running up, out of breath. Lucca explains to Crono about Marle's true identity as Princess Nadia. You now have to save the REAL Queen Leene before it's too late. Lucca will now join you.

The Queen is Gone

Exit the castle and back through the forest. Heal at the Inn if necessary, then go left of the forest to the Cathedral. Talk to the nuns there, and something seems strange about them. Continue up to the nun in front of the organ. When you talk to her, a spark appears on the altar step. Examine it, and Lucca will tell you that it's a hairpin with the Guardia royal crest. The nuns then gather around you and reveal themselves to truly be Naga-ettes. This battle might take a while, because of your low level and the Naga-ette Slow spell. I recommend you wait until they group together and then Cyclone as many as you can at once. After the battle, another Naga-ette appears out of nowhere and attacks Lucca. She's saved, however, when a warrior who looks strangely like a frog leaps in and kills the monster. Lucca apparently doesn't like frogs, and asks what to do. You definitely want to go with him, as he'll be a big help. He'll probably be a level or two higher than you as well.

If you feel you need it, head back to the Truce Inn to heal, then return to the Cathedral. Play the organ, and you'll reveal a hidden door. You can play around with all of your techs and combos on the common enemies to dispose of them faster if you want. You're not going to really need to conserve your MP for the first few boss fights in the game. First head left and grab the two chests in center for a Revive and a Tonic. Then go back right through the door and up the staircase. Ignoring the first door you see, continue around to the next door and enter. You'll see The King, Queen, and a Knight??? Talk to all three and then try to leave. The King will stop you and then all three reveal themselves to be Gnashers in disguise. After the battle, check the chests for 100G and an Ether. Head back around and down the stairs. Head left and up that staircase. Enter the door for three chests containing: MaidenSuit, Tonic, and Ether. Check the drawer and three Henches will attack you. Go around the corner and straight up for a chest containing a Steel Saber for Crono. Head left, and you'll see a door with spikes surrounding it. You can go below the spikes and around to a skull-shaped switch. Press it to remove the spikes and enter the room. In the bucket on the bottom left of the room is a power tab. One of the soldiers will tell you to that the Queen is hiding in the back and to rescue her. Exit the room and then head back around down, going down the staircase and to the center, going up the stairs in the center of the room. Go through the door and you'll see a savepoint. There's a room straight up, but there are spikes blocking your path now, so head left for a chest containing a Shelter. Then slide down stairs. Ignore the sleeping Hench and head up through the door. Press the skull-shaped switch and continue up. Head right and grab the two chests for a Tonic and a Heal. Continue right and down through the door. Flip the skull switch here, and you'll remove the spikes. Exit the room south and climb the adjacent stairs to get back up. Go through the door in the center. Clear the minor enemies here and grab the chest for an Iron Sword for Frog. Play the organ, and it will open a door, but where? Remember that hallway with the note in it? If you read it, it said "No entry." Go either down the left-hand or right-hand staircase. Go up through the room and to the center of the hall where the note was. You'll now see a door. Enter it and head up and you'll see another savepoint. Save and heal, because a boss fight is coming up. Your characters should all be level 5-7 by now. Enter the door, and you'll see the Chancellor will be talking to Queen Leene. He's surprised to see you barge in. The Queen will leave and leave the fighting up to you, so now it's time to pummel him. The "Chancellor" then transforms to Yakra and a Boss Fight ensues.

Boss Fight: Yakra

This is pretty simple. Just attack and heal, he'll go down without much fuss. After the battle, the Queen returns to thank Frog. She then returns to the castle, which is where you should head as well. But not before grabbing the two chests to release the real chancellor and to get a Mid Ether. Talk to the Queen, and you're automatically transported back to the castle. The Chancellor complains and demands a criminal justice system be established. This will be important later on. Frog then walks off, feeling sorry for himself because he failed to protect the Queen. Now you have to get Marle back, so return to the room from which she disappeared. Upon entering, she'll re-form. Lucca will call her "Princess Nadia", which leads her to realize that you know her secret. She'll apologize for deceiving you and ask you if you would have still shown her around if you knew who she really was. After that she re-joins your party. Now it's time to head back to your own time through the gate in Truce Canyon. As you start to exit to castle, you'll notice Frog standing outside the throne room. Talk to him, and he'll do more of feeling sorry for himself and claim that he's departing for good. Exit through the forest. Re-stock at the market and then head for the canyon. Go back to the portal that you used to arrive and you'll be back in 1000 A.D. Once there, Lucca leaves, and you're to escort Marle back to the castle. Note that by now you probably can afford to buy that Lode Sword from Melchior should you desire it. If you do talk to him with Marle in your party he'll ask you to talk her into selling her pendant. Even if you agree to, he doesn't end up buying it.

We're Back! / The Trial

Get to the castle the same way as in 600 A.D. There's Power Tab at the very right of the forest in this time too. Once you arrive at the castle, the Chancellor accuses Crono of abducting Marle. He then goes as far as to call him a terrorist who's out to take over the throne. Marle tries to tell him otherwise, but he ignores her. He has soldiers detain Crono and bring him to court. See what you did by screwing around with the past? Now they have a justice system and you're subjected to it. You're asked a few questions, but it doesn't really matter what you answer. What you did at the fair determines how the jury rules, but in the end it doesn't matter if you're found guilty or innocent. You'll see why shortly. The Chancellor leads Crono back to serve out his sentence, but lies to the guard, claiming he attempted to overthrow the kingdom! He announces that Crono is to executed in three days. Well, it wouldn't be a oldschool JRPG without you getting thrown in jail and needing to break out, right?

There's a savepoint in the jail cell, as well as a pink bag containing an Ether. There's also a mug that you can drink to recover health if you need it. Head down to the cell door and Crono will make noise on it, annoying the guards. Keep it up, and they'll eventually open the door to try to shut him up. He'll slash Crono, knocking him down, and then turn to walk away. Get up and use the A button to attack him from behind and exit the cell. The other guard will try to battle you, but should go down in one hit. Head right and across the bridge. Keep going until you see a guard standing in front of a switch. Flip the switch and go through the door that was just opened. There are four chests in this room containing two Ethers and two Mid Tonics. Head back to the left now and you'll be stopped trying to leave. Beat the easy enemy and continue back across the bridge to the room with the two shields. Examining them will start a fight. Attack when they are turned sideways for the most damage. Head up the top right starts onto another bridge and you'll be stopped by more guards. Continue right to the switch and flip it. Enter the guillotine room and talk to the guy about to be executed. Save him and he tells you that his dad runs a store in Truce Village. Get the Mid Tonic in the box and flip the switch on the wall, continuing up. Open the chest for a Bronze Mail, but before you can equip it, you're attacked by a couple of Skeleton Lancers. Head out and then up and left across yet another bridge to another mask junction. Go down the bottom left stairs and open the cell to get a chest containing a Shelter. Head back and defeat the shields and take the top left staircase. Go in the second cell and go out the hole then climb down until you see another opening in the wall. You'll get to a cell with a Shelter in the chest. Return all the way to the mask room and this time go to the top right. Head up the stairs and you'll see two guards. Take them out go through the door. You're back to the Supervisor's room now. He'll run off for help, but gets stopped by Lucca. She re-joins you and a save point appears. Save if you want and then read the note on the ground. It tells you how to beat the boss you're about to fight. Exit and cross the bridge. Before you make it, you'll be attacked.

Boss Fight: Dragon Tank

Like the manual said, the head shields fire and lightning, and it heals the rest of the tank. Unless you defeat the head, you can't beat the tank, so target that first with plain attacks. If you act fast enough, you should be able to do more damage than it can heal. You should notice that energy gets stored in the wheels and then it runs you over. After the head is gone, take out those pesky wheels before finishing the tank off. No need for any techs in this battle.

After the battle, the tank will explode and break part of the bridge, but the Chancellor and his soldiers are nice enough to form a human bridge for you. Cross and take the box in the room for a Shelter. Continue all the way down to the main level and the soldiers note that you're escaping. They make a pathetic attempt to stop you by clinging to you. Just keep walking towards the exit. Marle tries to lend a hand by using her royal authority, but the Chancellor returns, and this time he has the King to over-rule her. She gets tired of the way her father treats her and declares that she's running off with Crono. The soldiers play their following act again so just head right through the forest. You'll eventually come to a gate. Marle wants to use it, but Lucca warns that they don't know where it leads. Marle doesn't care, as she just wants to get away, so go through the gate into an unknown time period.

Beyond the Ruins

You arrive in a futuristic looking place. Exit south and head to the Trann Dome below. You'll see a guy in ragged clothes who asks if you have any money. If you answer yes, he offers to sell you some useful items. Talk to the various people and one person tells you that you can get food at the Arris Dome. At the far left is an Enertron, which recovers your HP and MP, but leaves you hungry. You have to head through Lab 16 to get to the Arris Dome, but remember the warning that there are enemies that don't react to weapons. That's where Lucca's Flame Toss comes in handy. You only need that for the Shadows, though. Other enemies can be attacked normally. Careful of the rats here, they steal Tonics. Head all the way right and up for a chest containing a Berserker band. Then backtrack to the entrance and head north. Turn right and open the chest you see for a Lode Sword. Head up and then left to a chest containing a Lode Bow. Continue left and then up, making a right turn at the top. Continue past the last sneaky rat onto the next screen. This is where the Shadows start appearing, so make sure Lucca has MP. They only have a single HP, but physical attacks don't affect them. Head down and to the left for an Ether. Go around right and then up until you exit. Enter the Arris Dome and talk to the people. When you tell them that you crossed the ruins, they're extremely shocked. Talk to the old man, and he'll tell you that his name is Doan. He'll tell you that the food is in the basement but it's being guarded by a robot. Notice as you walk around that everyone's eyes follow you. All the way to the left is another shop. Save and heal if you need it, and then head down the ladder towards the basement. You'll see a computer console, but find that you need a password to use it. For now, head up the ladder to the left.

You now find yourself on overhead rafters. Try to memorize the route, because you'll need to be able to run it later. Start by making a right at the first turn, then heading up. Go right and up and you'll notice a rat. Examine it to see that it's a statue with a warning note attached to it. Continue left and head up at the second turn. Make another right and up at the first turn to enter the storage area. I hope you're ready, because it's boss time.

Boss Fight: Guardian

This fight can be tricky. The Guardian uses the Bits to do its attacks. If you attack the Guardian, it'll counter attack with a delta if both Bits are present or if just one is present, it'll use Amplifire instead. To avoid a hard time, destroy the two Bits first, and then you can attack the Guardian. Just use normal attacks, techs aren't needed here. Without the Bits, the Guardian is defenseless, but he will revive them after five turns. Stop attacking once you see the countdown reach zero. Wait until the Bits are revived and then take them out again. Repeat this strategy and it will go down without much hassle.

After the fight head up, and you'll find that the refrigeration failed. You see a man who must have died long ago holding seeds. Examine the guy again and you'll see a message that reads: "The rat is more than just a statue! It knows the secret of this dome. Catch it!" The box to the left holds a Mid Ether. Go back to the rafters and you'll spot the rat. You need to dash with the B button and press A when near enough to catch it. My advice is to just let it go and exit out the bottom of the screen. Then come back and try chasing it the other way. It seems easier to catch when you start from the bottom than the top. It will tell you the password to the console, which is holding down L and R, while pressing A. Note: If you're using a keyboard, make sure your configuration is set so that pressing those three buttons at once doesn't cause scroll lock. If if it does, then temporarily change them to something like this:

A = A
L = S
R = D

Then you can hit all three with no problems. Once you've done the password, you can change the buttons back to whatever configuration you want. Enter the code and a bridge will appear so you can enter the door. The rats in this room don't steal anything, but instead start a battle. Head straight up for a box with a Mid Ether in it. Then go back down and up the left-hand staircase. Go all the way up and down the stairs you see. Go down and take the bottom right stairs. Head north and down the stairs to get to the door.

Head right and up the stairs then up at the first junction. Head left down the stairs and then up. Turn left and up the staircase there. Head all the way around until you reach a door. Enter it and you'll be in the info center. Walk towards the computer, and watch the scene for big piece of storyline. After that you're asked if you wish to embark on this mission. Say okay and Lucca announces that the next stop is the Proto Dome. Now head all the way back to Doan. You give him the seeds and he tells you to go to Lab 32 to get to the Proto Dome. He also gives you a Bike Key. Head northeast to Lab 32. There's a chest containing a Mid Tonic to the right. Head up and you'll see the Jetbike Doan mentioned. Before you can ride it however, you're stopped by guard robots. A guy named Johnny comes and stops a fight from ensuing. He informs you that if you want to get across with the Jetbike, you have to race him and win. Enter this mini-game for a nice shortcut, otherwise, walk it. The best strategy for racing is to get in front and try your best to fight him off from passing. However, you'll never hold him off the entire race, so you'll need the turbo boosts. You have three, but only need one. Use it at the very end of the race when the length remaining is down to only about 50. If you can't win, you'll have to walk it. Luckily for you, I'll tell you where to go.

Head all the way right to get a chest containing a Race Log. Head up and around right. Exit the dome south. Head east and into the Proto Dome at the bottom. Go up the stairs and you'll notice an Enertron. Use it if you need healing and then take the left staircase and continue around to what appears to be a broken-down robot. Examine it and Lucca will be fascinated by it, and try to repair it. After Marle introduces the party, Lucca asks for the robot's name. He says that his serial number is R66-Y, but that you can call him anything you like. (cue this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyhlPg4d_Dc) Name him Robo to keep consistent with the guide. He offers to turn the power generator on so that you can open the door, but someone has to stay behind to open it. I'd recommend leaving Lucca, as her fire abilities aren't really needed here, making Marle more useful at this point because of the Aura Whirl and Aura Beam Dual techs.

The Factory Ruins

Head north to the Factory Ruins and examine the computer. Robo will try to set the security override and you'll be attacked. After the battle, head north on the right conveyor belt. Hit the switch at the north wall to go down to the level below. From here, climb down the ladder and head left, going into the first entry way you see. If you go up and all the way to the right, there will be a hidden box containing a Mid Tonic. Exit and head down the ladder on the far right. Go around and all the way into the entry way at the bottom to be picked up by a crane and dropped onto a conveyor belt. You'll have a few battles as you pass through. At the end, you'll be carried down some stairs. Continue down and head through the door at the top of the ladder. Head straight up and then to the right for a chest containing a Mid Tonic. Go in the door just to the left of that chest. Examine the computer and you will receive the crane control codes. After this, the guard robots will be released. Grab the two chests on the right side of the room for 400 G and a Mid Ether. Exit and go to the left side door and grab the two chests for a Shelter and an Ether. Take the southwest exit to enter the crane's controls. At the beep hit X and then A to clear the first barrel. Then use it again and hit B twice to clear the second barrel. Now return return to the room from which the barrels were removed. Hop on the conveyor belt and ride it to the first set of stairs you see. Go down from there and grab the chest for an Ether. Get back on the conveyor belt and ride it to the end, exiting south through the opening. Head back up the ladder and head left, up, left to get to another ladder. Go down that and head left to the end and go in the door you see. Take the Bolt Sword in the box and then examine the computer. It will tell you that the last defense code is "Zabie" or X,A,B,Y. Head back out and go back up to the first room of the factory. This time go over to the left and hit that switch.

There's a savepoint here, so save if you wish and then head around to the left. Enter the door and get the chest on the right for a Shelter. Defeat the Acid and Alkalines and the computer will turn on. Examine it and a hatch will open. Go down it and head left to the end, heading south through the next two doors. Head right and then through the door you see. On the right is a chest with a Hammer Arm inside for Robo. Examine the computer and Robo will turn off the lasers, which will make three Acids and two Alkalines attack you. At the far left end of this area is a chest containing a Titan Vest. Head back down and to the right, to the area previously blocked off by lasers. The elevator asks you where to go. Selecting 'up' will take you back to the area with the savepoint, but you want to go down. Go left and then straight up through the center. To the left is a Plasma Gun for Lucca. Examine the computer and enter the password you were told (X, A, B, Y) to open the door. Go through the door and hit the switch. The security system goes haywire and now you must flee. The doors start to close on you, but Robo manages to catch one of them, allowing you to go. The elevator is shut off due to the security systems, so head left and up the ladder to return to the previous level. Exit this area and go to the left and around the corner and you'll see six blue robots that look like Robo. He greats them, but one punches him, and claims that he's malfunctioning. They say that he most be destroyed and proceed to beat the crap out of him. If you try to save him, you get knocked aside. Once the beating is done, they toss him down a chute and prepare to eliminate the intruders--you.

Boss Fight: R Series

This isn't really that tough of a fight for a boss battle. Try to get them lined up and use Crono's Slash. Attack and Heal with Marle. This fight shouldn't give you too much trouble.

After the battle, Marle will pull out the scraps of Robo. Crono and Marle will drag him back to Lucca to get repaired once again. While fixing him, Lucca asks Robo what he plans to do after he gets repaired. He informs her that no one has ever asked him what he wanted to do before. He later decides to go with you. You head into the gate up ahead, but what's this? You end up in a dark place with three pillars of light. Where exactly are you? Go talk to the old man sleeping in front of the lamp post. He informs you that you are at the 'End of Time' and that all lost travelers end up there. Furthermore, to go to any other time period, you need to keep your party at three people, leaving any others behind. You then have to choose who to take. For the time being, leave your party alone--Crono, Marle, and Lucca. You can switch at any time based on need, so don't worry too much. Also, party members at the end of time still gain some experience points, so they won't fall too far behind in level. He tells you how to get back to your own time period, so head back to the pillars of light. However, he stops you as you try to leave. Go back over to him and talk to him again. He tells you to head in the room behind him, so do so. In here, you see what looks like a Kilwala. This is Spekkio, the Master of War. Spekkio asks you if he looks strong or weak. With either choice, he informs you that if you're weak he looks weak, and if you're strong, he looks strong. (he's not lying about this either, as you'll later find out) He tells you to walk around the walls of the room three times clockwise. Make sure to start in front of the door at the bottom right corner and after passing the door, count once for each following passing of the door. If you count wrong, he'll tell you to do it over again. Once you do this, he chants, "Ipso facto, meeny moe... MAGICO!" This empowers your party with magic, and the reason I said to take Marle and Lucca is because Robo doesn't learn magic anyway. He asks you if you want to try it out. At this point, you're probably too weak to beat him anyway. The old man tells you to go back to your own time, so head to Medina Village, 1000 A.D. It's the top most pillar.

The Village of Magic

Recommended Party: Crono, Marle, Lucca
Recommended Level: 12

You end up coming out of the cabinet of a house of imps upon arrival! As you go to leave, the Blue Imp warns you that Mystics hold a grudge against humans and to be careful. This town does not serve you well, since it's inhabited by Mystics. If you enter the Market, you'll get refused service. Plead and you'll be attacked. Win and the Hench agrees to sell to you, but the prices are a rip-off, so don't bother. The inn works the same way. Head west and to the house you see. Inside you see Melchior from the fair. He'll sell you supplies at normal prices, so take advantage. After buying, he tells you that you can get back to Truce by taking the cave north of his house.

As soon as you enter Hekran Cave, you get attacked. All of the enemies here are weak to magic, and many are strong against physical attacks, so I hope you stocked up on Ethers. Head around and down the ladder you see. Open the chest at the right for an Ether. Head down the stairs and then down the next two staircases as well. Head down to the southern exit and grab the chest on the left end of the room for a Magic Scarf. Return to the previous area and head left to the box containing a Mid Ether. Head up to another chest that contains an Ether and then go down through the exit. Head left and then up the stairs and through the entry way. Go up, ignoring the black box, and take the exit at top right. Step down into the water and go right all the way and then up to the stairs. Save and heal at the savepoint and then get ready for a boss battle.

Boss Fight: Hekran

Start off by pelting him with your most powerful magic. Have Crono use Lightning and Marle and Lucca and team up for Antipode. Keep attacking in this manner until he tells you to go and attack. When someone wants you to attack them, you shouldn't. Just wait or heal if you need to during this time and he won't attack you. However, if you attack him, he'll counter with an attack that does a fair bit of damage to the whole party. After a while, he'll get tired and leave his counter mode to attack again. You can go back to casting now. You should dispose of him fairly easily as long as you don't attack while he's in counter mode.

After the battle, Hekran complains and wishes that the Magus had destroyed the human race. He also mentions Magus being the one who brought forth Lavos in 600 A.D. Lucca decides to use the gate at the Fairgrounds to get back to 600 A.D. so you can stop Magus. Head straight up and jump in the water to return to Truce. The gate actually takes you back to the End of Time, as will most from now on. Head into the upper right pillar to go to Truce Caynon in 600 A.D.

IV. Secrets

Ininite Shelters: Go to Guardia forest in 600 A.D. and look for shaking bushes. Examine the one to the right and a Kilwala will run out and drop a Shelter. Exit the forest and re-enter, and you can do this as many times as you like.

The Mop: Enter the Hunting Range in 65,000,000 B.C. and wait for it to rain. It's rare for you to get it raining, but when you do, look around for a monster that looks like a Kilwala. If you beat it, it will give you a Mop, which is a weapon that can be equipped to Crono.

A = A
L = S
R = D

I was really curious to check a walkthrough I haven't done. Actually, this one is probably the best walkthrough I've ever seen so far. Detailed, clear like crystal, and most important: screenshots. Among all the walkthroughs I checked on Vizzed (besides my own walkthroughs), this is the first one with screenshots, which is awesome. That brings an extra information for the player and it's cool. I guess I don't need to add anything and make another walkthrough of this game ha ha.

In summary, you deserve some congratulations from Laian the walkthrough writer

This is actually pretty good.
5 stars, I'd say.
A very detailed and developed walkthrough. Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games, so I enjoy looking at stuff like art and walkthroughs.
A very good walkthrough, Li. Hope to see more of this.

Thanks, guys. I've got a long way to go to finish it, but I'll hopefully get there soon. I actually have up through the first arrival in 12,000 B.C. typed up on my computer, but I wanted to play through it again for the screenshots, so I decided not to post any further than what I did until I caught up to my own guide on my Vizzed playthrough.

I also hope the CT Layout I made for it was a good idea and not too obstructive to the walkthrough itself >.>

(Fun Fact: I used the actual Chrono Trigger game font in that layout... though you'd need to have it downloaded/installed to see it)

I don't know if u already have one, but I was looking for a list that tells me what u get when u trade petals, fangs, horns, or feathers to the chief of the ioka village. So I've made one to put up here in case anyone else wants to look at it.

   3:petals+3:fangs= Ruby Gun
   3:petals+3:Horns=Sage Bow
   3:petals+3:Feathers=Stone Arm
   3:fangs+3:horns=Flint Edge
   3:fangs+3:feathers=Ruby Vest
   3:horns+3:feathers=Rock Helm

I found that if u wanna make money, the fastest way is to go to the hunting grounds and collect a bunch of the petals. Fangs, horns or feathers u need, then turn them in for the items which u can sell. the items are worth from 2000gp to 6500gp in the regular stores. And I think, and this is only speculation, that the ruby gun was worth the most. If it's not, then I'm sorry for misleading you. And if there was already a list of the items on here I'm sorry for reposting it. But like I said, I couldn't find one.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to writing the part where you get to the Prehistoric Era yet in my Walkthrough, so I don't have that kinda info. I kinda just covered the first trip to the future and that's about it so far. I really wanna get back to writing this soon.

Very nice, straightforward walkthrough.

One thing you could add would be the Strength Tab in the forest in front of Castle Guardia in the present.

Also, there's another way the prison scene could happen, wait out the three days (fast-forward is a godsend here), and Crono will be taken to the Guillotine. Then Lucca will show up to rescue him, and you can do everything else the walkthrough mentions for that area.

That's actually what happened on my first time through the game.
