The only mammal in the world of pokemon are the humans, as mammals give birth to living children.
Or so i presume as you never see a birth in pokemon and i think a human laying an egg is very... illogical.

Yeah I have no idea how you make a Pokémon fit in a pokeball to begin with, like how does wailord supposed to fit in that thing? Let alone store him in a pc. I think some of the stuff in Pokémon just doesn't make any sense at all. Or sometimes how mammal Pokémon lay eggs, that makes no sense and I don't see how that works out. Some of the stuff in Pokémon games makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Why is it that Professor Oak claims to spend his life researching Pokemon and then gives you a completely empty Pokedex?

Why do you need special shoes to run?

How can you fit a BIKE into your bag?

Why does a professor not know the difference between a boy and a girl AND forget his own grandson's name?

In pokemon it claims that Mew is the ancestor of all pokemon, but then it claims that Arceus created the universe, how can Mew be alive before Arceus created the universe?

Some things we just can't explain eh? And Mammals can lay eggs -.- Ugh, ah well. It's Pokémon! Anything is possible.

That's your question, but I don't want to go off topic so...
What doesn't make sense is how is a SMALL Tree and a little ROCK suppose to stop you from moving on, you can just climb over it or go AROUND them. And EV training... this game is suppose to be FUN! And they added... oh god no... math... no please no... ALSO How can dodrio learn FLY when Scyther can't?! And how is a starmie suppose to learn thunderbolt and an emboar can't learn FIRE PUNCH. There are many non-logical things in Pokemon like Dean2k13 said, but we may never know "why" to whatever non-logical thing you may ask. Maybe in gen 6, but i doubt it.
