(NOTE: I am not spamming for word count.)

TAS, which stands for Tool Assisted Speedruns, is a common term and more than thousands of TASes were made. I started TASing too, with Gens 11, my gens emulator from TASvideos. I tried a WIP for Sonic And The Secret Extended Edition, and it worked well.

TAS info for WIP:

Rerecords: 54
FPS: 60
TAS length: (frames/time) 10217 / 2:50.28

TAS starts: Frame 0, boot up SATSEE V4.2 ROM

TAS ends: Frame 10217, before input is allowed in hubworld after finishing Green Hill Zone.

Frames to beat parts of TAS:

Boot up to act 1: Frames 0-815

Act 1: Frames 816-1927

Frames to beat act 1: 1111

Guessed time to beat act 1: 0:19.16

Act 2: Frames 3117-4552

Frames to beat act 2: 1435

Guessed time to beat act 2: 0:13.88

Act 3: Frames 5732-6988, lag frame after hitting the goalpost.

Frames to beat act 3: 1256

Guessed time to beat act 3: 0:10.91

Boss act: Frames 8178-9150

Frames to beat boss act: 972

Guessed time to beat boss act: 0:06.28

Total frames to beat Green Hill Zone (not counting pause/wait times): 4774

Total time to beat Green Hill Zone (not counting pause/wait times): 1:19.60

That is all my TAS WIP info for my upcoming SATSEE V4.2 TAS run in the next 2-3 weeks.

Here is my zone order for my future TAS:

Green Hill Zone
Marble Hill Zone
Labyrinth Zone
Spring Yard Zone (go up to the start of boss act and leave due to being unfinishable)
Star Light Zone (go up to the start of boss act and leave because of death loop)
Scrap Brain Zone (get to red screen as fast as possible and finish TAS input before red screen comes up)

If I do finish the TAS, I am not sure if I will upload it to TASvideos in the future, but it has potentional.

bombchu link : I did cancel this not long after I posted this, though. I can't upload videos, since it requires me making the movie, then uploading it to vizzed YouTube. It was a good idea, but it requires so much work I only did a WIP on Green Hill which I no longer have. My WIP I used to have was pretty amazing. I figured out how to a 6 rev spindash in 6 frames. (6 is the fastest speed in spindashing.) For 6 revs in 6 frames, as soon as sonic looks down to activate the spindash, I hit the A button. Next frame, B. Next, C, until I hit the C button the second time to pull off the fast spindash according to some Sonic 3 & Knuckles TASes I have seen many months ago.

Edit: I rarely even play the gens emulator now because of Stepmania Online, FFR, and SSBB getting into the way.

Also, if I still had the movie, the TAS was made from SRAM, so I had a save file with the score maxed out which is why I had a glitch where every point I got equaled a 1-up, causing many, many lag frames during the time bonuses. I never want to delete the SRAM just to risk a TAS without the unnecessary lag frames from the constant 1-ups. Also, in V4.2, the last update of the ROM before it was cancelled due to too many bugs for the hack creator fix, the 1-ups aren't 1-ups, they are instead stars that serve no purpose. It does loop after getting 256 stars, however, which goes back to 00. After F9 stars, the tens digit displays some parts of sprites from the hack and original game, which was a big glitch, like the famous Sonic 1 & 2 glitch to underflows the life count by drowning at the same time as you hit spikes on your last life, which triggers the Game Over but it teleports you back to the stage like normal, giving you the 256 lives.

Stevie 764 : Interesting, In Knuckles in Sonic 1 I have to charge a spin dash 8 times to get to max speed. I bet the physics changed in S3@K.

P.S. I am TASing Sonic CD++ right now (full game) and I am doing quite nicely.
