Review of the game, "Mega Man 5" for the NES.

Thinking of review...

Transmitting review data...

Writing review...

Complete! Review starts here:

How to play: The controls are the same as the past games, the < and > buttons on the d-pad move megaman, down + A makes him slide, A makes him jump, B shoots, and Start goes to the weapon screen.

How to play: (cont.) You play as the hero, Mega Man who stopped Dr. Wily 4 times already and hasn't gave up, this time though, there is a twist in the story, instead of Dr. Wily kidnapping Dr. light, who captured him?Play the game to find out. You have 3 lives, when you run out, the game ends and you go to the password menu where you can write down the password, the password system since Mega Man 3 has been more complex, where if there is a "C3 Blue" dot, you have to write the color and the column + number on where it is. It took me a while to figure that out. You can get E-tanks, a new addition is the ultimate M-tank which refills everything that you have, your life bar, beat's energy, (If you have him) and all the weapons you have collected. You can have up to 1 M-tank at a time, you can have 9 lives and 9 E-tanks too!

Review start!

Graphics - 8
Once again, Capcom tries again at the graphics and hoping to improve the graphics atleast one bit, the background is more detailed and it was becoming more awesome, especially the level layout. I give the graphical rating a 8.

Sound - 8
More sounds an more music can result into more effort into the sounds and the music, the sounds are still the same, the music is a little better than before. This has some good music, so I give the sound rating a 8.

Addictiveness - 7
The game may be boring at the start, but as you go, it starts to get serious, it is fun to play, I could prefer another Mega Man game you should play, Mega Man 10! I give the addicting rating a 7.

Story- 7
The story is that Dr. light gets kidnapped by whoever it was, and Mega Man has to stop the kidnapper from destroying Dr. light. Basic story, but I give it a 7.

Depth - 8
This game has a very slight increase in adding more stages, the game is hard, but you would always wonder... "Why did Dr. light even get kidnapped in the first place?" This game is long. I give the depth a 8.

Difficulty - 8
This game is hard, but a little easier than Mega Man 4 when I compare how hard it is right here:

MegaMan 4: I can't beat the second stage of Dr. Cossack's castle!

MegaMan 5: I can barely beat it.

So yeah, Mega Man 5 is easier than the fourth game. I give the difficulty a 8.

Overall - 8.6
This game does have more to offer, but why create the same game again and again and again with slight differences, Nintendo should try to make a Mega Man game, NOT CAPCOM! In conclusion, the game is fun, it has nice graphics, replay value, but I do recommend you play this before trying the fourth game.

Thanks for reading the review, check my other ones out!

Yeah this was the first Mega Man game played for the NES. It's a pretty good game in my opinion.

Markeith21 : I got this on virtual console last year with a wii points card, I beat it maybe 3-4 times already, it is so hard!

Also, I noticed a error in your post, a very slight error, here is the error in the quote:

[quote by Markeith21][quoteblock]Yeah this was the first Mega Man game played for the NES.[/quoteblock]

I attempted a quote, do you know how to properly quote it without making a "quote-fail"?

Onto the error, the first Mega Man game played for the NES, I noticed that you forgot the "I" when you didn't see it coming.

I liked the game, despite the difficulty, it is fun, but I hate how capcom very slightly improves each sequel of video games compared to how insanely improved the NES games are for Nintendo, Super Mario Bros on the NES created the huge attention span for games, but capcom barely even makes a inptovement!

I can't lie, this was an amazing review in my eyes. I really love how you included the basic controls. Instead of making a large review of constant words you separated each aspect and addressed appropriately and gave them each a rating and explained why. For the last section before the overall rating, about Mega Man being the same game with a few tweaks, I can agree with you on that. I would like to see someone pick Mega Man back up (because he's pretty much dead these days thanks to Capcom making Keji Inafune leave) and recreate him in a way that would change the series in a positive way like when Mega Man X had come about.

zerothesaint : Thanks, I always try to write a review that is around 500 words which helps me in post exp count. I do like the game, it was just great to have a game like this, but can't Capcom create a huge imrpovement in every game instead of putting super huge very slight differences into a game!? I would rather throw the game into the trash slice a game in half than play some awful games, but atleast Mega Man was a good series, it went from the main games to the "Mega Man X" series, then the "Mega Man Battle Network" series, finally, another series that I really know absolutely don't know the name for it.

As far as I can tell when Capcom continued to ship out the Mega Man games people loved them regardless because of how well they played and such. By the time of Mega Man 5 and or 6 was when people were like "Its the same thing again, just little gimmicks". That's when Capcom stepped it up and Keji Inafune created Mega Man X.

With MMX I think the story and level designs is what kept it going, I personally loved the story to that series. I'll give Battle Network some credit though. That was such a crazy yet awe inspiring change to Mega Man and I was easily swept into it. But then it started to get a tad bit crazy with the whole "Teams" thing going on and I just stopped. Mega Man Starforce...no thanks. Now the other little spin-off series, Mega Man Legends, that blew my mind. Sadly after having only two games and a large quantity of time having passed, Capcom finally decided to have a Mega Man Legends 3...and then canned it.

I can honestly say I've lost my faith in Capcom when it comes to Mega Man. I would just like to see someone pick it up and change it in a way we would never expect and have amazing results come from it like I mentioned before. But until then I'll be stuck playing all the classics, but you won't see me complaining, even if some of them are tediously repetitive.

Great game really loved the way it played and the graphics weren't too bad at all, not a bad play at all, everyone should give it one try at some point, it least once, great game overall, just not a 5 out of 5 though.

This is a fantastic review, but if I had one thing to complain about it though....

ohmygodtoomuchorangemyeyesarekillingmeeee

Please use a less eye-popping background color next time please. I had to take reading this review in doses because my eyes couldn't handle all the orange. xD
