*This is based off the anime/manga Blue Exorcist (Ao No Exorcist). It is a novel adaptation however, and there will be small deviations in the plot. Hope you enjoy!* Chapter 1: Lost "Stupid pigeons." Rin muttered while walking down the street. Having been fired from a new job twice already this week, Rin was in a bitter mood. He certainly wasn't in the mood to be pooped on by some stupid pigeon, let alone stepping in some. "Haha nice shot Hattori!" Rin slowed down as he glanced towards the unknown voice. Innis Park, one of his favourite places to just sit and ponder, or just let out some anger, was occupied by a couple of rebellious-looking teenagers. Wasn't anything new. Rin saw teens doing stupid shenanigans in that park all the time. This time however, Rin noticed that one of the teens was carrying a crossbow. The teen with the crossbow slowly took aim, and tried to shoot at a pigeon. Fortunately, he missed. "Damn, missed him," said the teen, who Rin then assumed was called Hattori. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Rin burst out. "Did those pigeons do anything to you?" The teens looked at each other and started laughing. "You got a problem with that? These pigeons are stupid anyhow, nobody gives a damn about what happens to them. There's so many of them, who cares if I get rid of a few?" Rin shouted "You better stop or I'll..." "What?" Hattori jeered. "Whatcha gonna do about it?" Quickly taking aim, Hattori then shot a bolt right past Rin's face into the tree behind him. "Did that scare you? Huh? Now just get the hell out of here," one of the other teens said, being led on by his peers. Hattori then took aim at another pigeon. Enraged, Rin started running towards Hattori and the rest of his gang. By the time they noticed, Rin was already at their feet. Or rather, their faces. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rin peered through the window as he arrived home. "Looks like SOMEone's home, the lights are on." Rin thought to himself. Stepping inside, Rin quietly opened and shut the door. Trying not to make the floor creak, which seemed to be impossible in the old abbey he lived in with his father, the head priest, and his brother, Rin tried to make his way towards the stairs leading up. "RIN! There you are! I've been meaning to talk to you!" Shiro, Rin's father exclaimed. "Fantastic," Rin muttered. "All I needed was a 'talk' from the old geezer." Rin and Shiro sat down at a table, and got comfortable. Shiro stared intently at Rin, while Rin just stared out the window, looking emotionless. Shiro tapped his feet and waited for Rin to speak up, but Rin didn't respond. He stared out into the street outside of the grimy window. Outside into a world of hate and despair, where it had just started raining too. Outside into the worl- "Rin." Rin's thoughts were interrupted by Shiro. Rin turned his head and saw that Shiro was looking quite unhappy with Rin. Sighing, Rin turned in his chair and faced Shiro. "What do you want?" mumbled Rin. "Is it true that you've been fired again?" asked Shiro. Rin gave no response. "Judging from the way you're acting, I guess I can assume that it's true. Get a hold of yourself Rin! You're almost out of high school, well more like failing out of high school, and you still haven't been able to hold a part-time job for more than a couple of days! You've got to start applying yourself. Soon, I won't be here to support you. You're going to have to leave this old abbey and live on your own. Unless you want to keep taking care of this place?" "Pfft no, who would want to keep this crap as a home for any more time than necessary?" said Rin. "Then get a job and stick with it!" shouts Shiro. "If you don't get this kind of experience, you're going to-" "I KNOW. It's not like I'm not trying or anything, it just happens." Rin remembered earlier that day when he got into a fight with a couple of strangers he barely knew. Over a couple of stupid pigeons too. Rin got up and walked towards the stairs. "What am I doing with my life?" Rin asked himself. "This is just all so freaking dumb." Finally in his room, Rin collapsed on his bed and closed his eyes.
