Well, if you want to discuss services, my first 'job' was not being employed by a company or organization.  I did a lot of tutoring in high school, and I got paid for it.  In fact, that's how I met my first boyfriend.... he was paying me for getting math help!  If you want to talk about REAL jobs (as in government taxed), I worked at a bed and breakfast as the morning cook.  That job, I LOVED. It's ironic I got it, because I couldn't (and still can't!) cook.  The owners were nice enough to teach me how to cook the breakfast foods though, and I did pretty well for messing up everything else I've ever tried to cook! LOL

I worked for 1 summer at McDonalds when I was like 15 and then I went back the next summer as well. That's my first experience in the work force if you don't count stuff like babysitting. I started babysitting when I was like... 12... or so.

If we're NOT discussing services, I actually got six part time jobs around the same time while I was getting my bachelor's degree. I was the cook at a bed and breakfast, a personal tutor, a tutor for the athletic department, a professor's assistant, a tutor with a company, and a cashier at a diner.

Yeah, I was nuts.

I'd get up at five, go cook, serve, and do dishes.  Then I'd go to class, job, class, job, class, job until I was at the diner.  The diner was my last job of the day, and I was supposed to end at 11, but most of the time my relief wouldn't come in until 2am.  -.-

So yeah, lots of nights with three or four hours of sleep.

My first job I actually had last year, when I lived in my old apartment. I worked at a UDF (United Dairy Farmers [they told me they were only local to OH, IN and KY]). I actually really enjoyed it, I already knew most of the people there and had established a good friendship before and while I worked there. However, I lost the job, even though it was a gas station/convenient store job and I had third shift I actually kind of miss it. But I am currently looking for work around my new home, and will be making some money again here soon!

rcarter2 : I would gladly work at Target or Walmart if I wasn’t physically limited as to what I can do. I have tried applying to retail jobs in the past but with no luck. I think the only traditional job I’ve had other then when I worked for HSN were those godforsaken telemarketing jobs. I hated those with a passion. I’ve just come to accept that those are the jobs that disabled people are offered by and large. Least that’s how it is where I live.

bvd1022 : What kind of limitation do you have that would keep you from a retail job? It is actually illegal in the US to not hire someone because of disability.

rcarter2 : I was born with cerebral palsy. Although I have a mild case it effects the strength of my legs and back, I walk with crutches when I’m out of the house etc. I admit I don’t really do what I’m suppose to in regard to exercising and such but I can’t stand for long periods of time and such, deal with chronic back pain and leg cramps etc. If I could I would gladly take a midnight to 8AM shift at Wal-Mart or something stocking shelves. Even though when things are normal I devote a lot of time to my writing I’d be willing to do that if it meant making steady income until I get a solid spot off my writing. I’ve also been looking for ways to get into affiliate marketing and such.

My first job was the Realtor,I worked for 1 year when I was 1920,the real estate agency it's called "Italiana Immobiliare" .
That was my first experience,if don't count a school stage in a travel agency of my town, only a months.
Now,like the majority of young Italians,I'm looking for a job,but it's extremely difficult because there are no serious jobs.

My first job was in like November 2010, I was in college at the time so it was part time. I worked at my local McDonalds, I got hired as a cook but I ended up learning how to do everything. It turned out to be beneficial for them because they constantly needed me to work more hours which turned my part time job into a full time job with me working 16 hours at a time on quite a few occasions and still trying to go to school. My grades suffered heavily for me always accepting the extra hours and I actually ended up failing all my classes my second semester and my college suspended me academically. Actually the last week of my 2nd semester (April 2011) they made me quit or ill be fired because I couldn't come in to work one day even though I let them know well ahead of time. They claimed I didn't let anyone know which was a lie, I let two different managers know and they even agreed with me but the head manager wouldn't let me keep my job.

Anyway now I work at a grocery store called Kroger, I absolutely love my job there. I work as a full time employee and worked my way up from a Courtesy Clark (Bagger) to Uscan Attendant. My next move for me is to get to the front office which is one step below manager. I love the people I work with, I get paid decently and have been working at this job for a little over a year.

My first job would be my current job working at a&w, both as a cashier and cook. I work at the one about five minutes from my house so it isn't to bad, it's usually pretty busy though cause it's right off the highway. I get paid 10.15 an hour so I can't complain, that's minimum wage in Canada now, lately I've been working five days a week with 7 and a half hours per shift. It can be hard working, but I'm tough so it's alright. Been working there since the beginning-ish of June, everything is well so far. My Christmas party is actually this week, and the day after that is our social meeting.. we get to go out to dinner and a movie, I figure that should be interesting.

Not sure if this classifies as a job, but this past week, I helped my dad with his business. He co-owns a business that basically makes and fixes machines, mostly for car companies. I've been helping with some of the drawings of the electrical boards, and seeing where the wires have to go, and stuff. But my job so far is to change something on all of the drawings to say that they were like that when they were installed, and changing how many drawings there were in all. Very repetitive, but just a quick fifteen minute thing. I don't really know what I will get paid either.

My first job was delivering pizza for a local pizza joint. I had a good time doing it. I made about anywhere from $40 to even $100 a night. I worked about 4 nights a week, from 3:30 to 11:30. I made $7.25 an hour, which I got at the end of every two weeks, and then I also got to keep all my tips and got 7% commission on every order I delivered. I might try to get a weekend job in Hawaii, since I won't have anything to do on the weekends when I get there.

I was a migrant farm worker with my family.  We only did it during the summer so I never had to miss school and I did this from the age of 12 all the way to the age of 17, hey even did a piece about it when I was 13 and my college recently interviewed me about it for Hispanic heritage.  We would hoe the weeds but my first year was the hardest those weeds used to be taller than me, and I felt like a lumber jack chopping down trees, keep in mind that I was probably around 5' at that time.  We used to get up at 3 to get to the fields sometimes and would get back until 4-5 then I had night classes until 9, it was hard work.  The pay was great but it depended on who we were working for most places paid by the acre so it was good honest money but the hours were killer

The first job I ever had was as a room stripper....

...now, don't get too excited. XD I worked at a hotel and went in before the maids, pulling the dirty sheets and towels so all they had to do was make the beds and restock. I was fourteen when I started that. If you don't realize how much work that is, it's a lot. I usually stripped half the hotel on my own, so about 50 rooms a day. There was three levels of the hotel, no elevators, and the laundry room was in the basement (fourth level, lol). Usually could toss the bundles off the balcony to the basket below, if we were careful, so at least I didn't have to haul them down the stairs. I started work at 8am and usually finished between 10 to 11 (so yes, I'd strip up to 50 rooms in 2 hours, if things went well).

The only good part about it was that I got paid by the room, not by the hour (because they wanted us to go fast, fast, fast!). So if I did the full 50 rooms, I'd get 5 bucks a room (maids got 10, but they got less rooms each). So I could walk out of there with 200+ bucks in my pocket. The boss paid us every day, but he was very careful to mark everything down and he kept back money for taxes, so we never had to worry about it and never got into trouble with the government. He was a pretty good guy.

I did that for a whole summer. It was fine until I sprained both of my wrists at the same time; that put an end to my stripping career.  (and boy do I love having a legit excuse to use that line, lmao)

Undertakers assistant. It was mostly gardening work but also helping to dig out and filling the holes. The actual undertaker got to use the tractor, old man that he was.

My first and current job was a temp job turned non temp about 2 years ago... I'm a supervisor at a recycling plant where we grind up bottles and ship out the material to be made into new bottles.  We're a branch of Plastipak Packaging and Absopure Water, the owner of my company owns them both as well.  Pretty decent pay lol.

My first job was officially working on my uncles ranch. I used to feed the animals and help tend crops when I was younger and then at about 15 or so I started training to break horses. After that I started riding bulls. That part wasn't exactly part of the job, but it paid if I placed well. Unofficially I mowed grass, painted houses, and so on to earn a bit extra as a kid. I came from a family that pretty much if you wanted something, you earned it. Happens in big families I guess, growing up in Texas I had plenty of opportunities. While I don't still work on the ranch it was passed down to me when my uncle passed away so I guess I do still kind of work on it. If it does count then... All my life no matter what else I was doing? I made time to help him out any time. One of the best jobs I could recommend to any one. It isn't easy, days are long and hot, but you'll never have a better relationship with others on the job then you do on a farm or ranch, civilian work wise anyways.
