Okay Gamers Star Force (1984 - Tecmo) and Star Soldier (1986 - Hudson Soft) are two classic shoot 'em up arcade games, and both have super similar graphics, enemies, and overall game-play. Consider though, the different power up levels in each game.  In Star Force there is only one power-up level, where you have to capture the small white ship that  gyrates around the screen and when you do it upgrades your ship in size (slightly) and gives you better fire power. This power-up is helpful in the sense that you can shoot faster and the flame of the shot looks a little bigger, but overall it would be nice to have a different weapon or a little more diversity in the artillery.  Star Soldier has two different power up levels. Upon shooting the "P" 's a small pink "S" is released to float around the screen (similar to Star Force) and after capturing two of these you get an upgrade of more forward fire power, within the same original streams, and also one shooter from the back. The fire from behind is nice for circling around enemies to kill them (and essentially rack up points) rather than facing them head on and risking a collision out of greed for points! Shooting another "P" and capturing another "S" you will receive another upgrade in which you will be given three guns in the front and two diagonal shooters from the back, creating a hail storm of fire that destroys most every enemy, (until your vision is discombobulated from all of the firing). Though it sounds like Star Soldier's game play would be more fun because of the options in weapons, something always brings me back to Star Force.I'd like to hear some discussions maybe on: Tecmo vs Hudson. Which graphics do you like more? Does the music play a factor in your game play? Pretty much the comparing and contrasting of anything between these two fantastic shooters!
