i was downloading Winamp skins last night thinking... i wonder what everyone else uses and why...?

Well i use Winamp, i think it has the most features with the current them im using plus it doesnt try to communicate with an outside server as the Microsoft Media Player will. I also find that it uses very little resources when considering all its features.

Other media players could include Jet Audio, Real player, Windows,, iTunes, or any media player you use that i havent heard of ^.^

I use VLC (video Lan Player) its an open source media player (I think) It gets worked on and upgraded by all sorts of people. You can download it for virtually any OS out there. It plays ANYTHING I have ever thrown at it. And with a little research and practice you can tweak it to do, or be anything you could ever want.

And.... I forgot what I was going to say.

O O OK, its a very good program for streaming audio or video to wherever you want it to go, TV, speakers, Web, other computers Etc. Has alot of good features, and not alot of fluff and SLOWDOWN like MWP

winamp is pretty nice too.

i should get winamp, but 3 music players is a bit overkill...
Cliprex DVD Player Pro was something i got to play IFO dvd files... so i could copy the dvds i bought legally and back them up... and watch them rom my comp... but i dont use that much now... i use divx to watch ifo, because i learnt it could. Cliprex DVD Player Pro also screenshots most video formats (not dvds) so if i wanted my own screnshot of say, FF:AC, i can easily with that... i don't know if any others apart from quicktime do that... and quicktime you need their movies to screen capture

I agree, winamp is diffently the best.
If i use the old winamp skin and shrink it so its just that little bar, i find it only use 3mb of resources. And that awesome because the current skin im using for just general use, uses up to 15 mb of resources. Now, it doesnt seem like a big difference but it counts in the end.

wow was i shocked

i was confirming that jetaudio used less resources when playing, but in fact it uses 9900 kb, weather maximised or minimised. WMA uses 11000 kb, maximised, but minimised uses 5500 kb!

can u tell me how much winamp uses?

Edit: i turns out it may vary with songs... damn

I have confirmed it...
it didnt go over 4000 resources for any song while minimised... When maximisesed.. or in use... it would usually sit at about 8000 to 11000, but it depends on your skin, settings on the skin, visulization... stuff like that...
I use real player for movies. It wil play literally anything, well it has so far... So yeah, real player PWN Windows Media Player AND ... uhh... iTunes put together!
Yeah! think about it!
