I love How I Met Your Mother, so I might reach that episode if it's in season 4 this weekend.
- Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is a disease where muscles can turn to bone, making movement impossible in some cases and weird skeletons after death.
- It's estimated that there's around 85 billion neurons in the brain.
- Some neurons are several feet long and some are smaller than a millimeter.

The latest study suggests that each contains at least one star about his plans. Results of recent studies indicate that our galaxy contains, on average of one planet for every star. The study also suggests that in our galaxy there are more planets Similar to Earth than gas giant like Jupiter. This means that in our own galaxy may be over 100 billion planets like Earth, which are outside our solar system and are known as exoplanets

The mediastinum is the space between our lungs containing the heart and great blood vessel's including the aorta and vena cava. If a person is shot in the mediastinum they have a 3% chance of surviving. Grim.

Supposedly, if you were to live deep inside a cave, with no exposure to the outside world, eventually you would start sleeping about every 24 hours and 18 minutes. Under normal circumstances, our eyes sense light from the Sun, and our brains adjust to the standard 24 hour day. Scientists don't really know, why that is.

Our built-in tendency to live on a 24 hour, 18 minute day might seem to make sense if that was how long days were in the distant past, and the length of each day has been slowly speeding up.  However, exactly the opposite is occurring. The length of each day has been gradually increasing, as the rotation of the Earth slows down because of the Moon's tidal forces. Half a billion years ago, days were 22 hours long. Four and a half billion years ago, they were six hours long.

A need for a longer day might also make sense if we were all from Mars.  On Mars, each day is 24 hours and 39 minutes long. We're not. Most of us are not. Let's just say that all the important people you know are not. If you don't already know that you are, you're not. It's best if you don't bring this up with your parents... Please forget I said anything about this...

When you're in space, you're floating not because there's no gravity, but because your falling. See, your stuck in orbit around a celestial object, and your falling for all eternity because the orbit keeps you mostly stationary.

Pareidolia, the neurological phenomenon that allows us to see “significant” faces in random places, can be found everywhere!

Clockwise from top left: Wilting rose skull, face on the surface of Mars, horse log, and elephant crater on Mars.

This isn't a great one, but here it is. Ice is the solid form of water and the only solid form of a matter that weights less than water, while other matters in their solid form weigh more. That's why ice is always on top of the water instead of at the bottom.

juuldude : Ice isn't the only thing that less dense than water. There are a few other solids that have that same trait. For example, pumice floats on water despite being a solid, as does aerogel, the lightest and least dense know solid. Granted, both of these have air pockets trapped inside which is why they do, so if you were to exclude that then ice would be the only solid I know that floats.

It takes more than a hundred years for plastic to digest itself (with bacteria).

juuldude : I believe whatever source you got that from was trying to say something slightly different. Water is the only substance for which it's solid form is less dense than it's liquid form, hence, the solid form of water will float on it's liquid form. I am pretty sure water is also the only substance with this trait/property.

1) Snakes have two penises (something about being more efficient, just google it)

2) Scientists are able to see what you are dreaming during early stages of sleep with about 60% accuracy using MRI scans

3) Your brain cannot make up a face. Anybody you see in a dream you have seen before, whether it was someone you walked past in a store or a close relative you see every day.

4) There is currently a starfish epidemic sweeping through the Pacific Coast that has greatly reduced starfish population. Believed to be a bacterial infection, infected starfish grow mushy and lose their limbs. These starfish will die overnight, making it difficult to study the disease. This is known as "Star Wasting Syndrome".

5) A mathematical  theory suggests that some infinities are larger than other infinities. Take 0-1 for example. There are infinite numbers between those two, such as 0.1 or 0.000000001 and so on. In that case, doesn't that mean there are more numbers between 0-2 then 0-1. That makes no sense because an infinity is...well...and infinity. So what do you think? Is it possible for an infinity to be larger than another infinity?

The Turritopsis nutricula (also known as Turritopsis dohrnii) jellyfish, in theory, could be biologically immortal.
Explanation:
Multi-cellular organisms age through a process of cell division. Each time a new cell is made (or divided) from it's parent cell the dna is also copied for the new cell. Cell division is not perfect, and each time a cell is divided a small end of the dna is left out. Telomeres are extra and unneeded dna added to the end of the dna strand to prevent cell division from cutting out the actual parts of dna that are needed (so basically telomeres are sacrifices to the cell division gods in hopes of sparing the important dna). Eventually, the telomeres will all have been cut out and cell division will begin wasting away the important and needed dna. When this happens the cells containing this wasted dna become disfunctional. That is how you age and you body will literally become unable to work.

Turritopsis nutricula jellyfish have the unique capability to "reset" their cells to the original dna coding, including leaving out any mutations, when they reach death's door. Their shriveled remains curl up in a ball and then a new, juvenile creature emerges. How is this possible Well...scientists actually don't know as they are still studying. But man, wouldn't it be nice to reset your clock when you get old?

The animal that you see below(yes not an alien, not alien machine or ancient technology, but an animal) is about 1.5mm to below 0.1 mm small. What's great about it? Well:

- It can survive being heated for a few minutes to 151 C (304 F), or being chilled for days at 200 C (-328 F).[26] Some can even survive cooling to 272 C (~1 degree above absolute zero or -458 F) for a few minutes

-It can withstand the extremely low pressure of a vacuum and also very high pressures, more than 1,200 times atmospheric pressure. It can survive the vacuum of open space(yes it was sent in outer space) and solar radiation combined for at least 10 days. ]Some species can also withstand pressure of 6,000 atmospheres, which is nearly six times the pressure of water in the deepest ocean trench, the Mariana trench...

And a lot more things epic about it

you may look up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade for more info, and yes i copied and pasted the above two paragraphs from this site

faisal.97 : I looked at that first picture, and was about to call you a liar until I reread that line about how big it was. That is one creepy and strong bug. Thank god it is not big.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
