I own a DVD recorder and I record discs on a near daily basis as a means of maintaining space on my DVR. It also serves well for recording stuff related to my work. Anyway, I recently brought a 100-pack of Verbatim DVD-R discs. I purchased these from Amazon and they appeared to be defective after trying two discs. I ended up returning those discs for a full refund but recently I have noticed that discs have had a circular ring after I finalize a disc. There isn’t anything wrong with the recorder as it is working normally and each disc in the new batch that I brought has come out perfectly despite the rings on each disc.

I have used DVDS for the last couple of years and this is the first time I have seen a ring on any of my recorded discs… Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to make sure I don’t keep having rings on my discs?

My initial thought was that it could be a repercussion of the two discs that I tested out of what turned out to be a bad batch of discs but since everything seems normal with the recorder I don’t know if that’s what caused it or not…

I think I will stick with Maxell media from now on because I have heard that Verbatim brand discs are mostly bad and I have never had a problem with Maxell in the past. Does anyone know other brands of reliable media? I have also used Phillips, Memorex and, TDK brand media from time to time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
