I choose the water one because it saves time catching and raising another Water Pokemon and teaching it surf. I like water Pokemon. They have less weaknesses than the fire or grass starter, unless they develop second types.

For once, I'm actually going to pick the Grass starter (I haven't picked the grass starter since Chikorita, way back when graphics were bad and there were only 11 legendaries). It looks really cool, has an evil grin on its face, and probably evolves into a grassy peacock or something really pretty anyways.
Then again, the fire- type (a recolored Turtwig. I can see that) is still kind of appealing, if for old time's sake (I've picked the fire starter every single time, except sometimes when I pick Chikorita over Cyndaquil). Of course, it looks a bit more piggish to me, so a Fire- Pig is just going to be a recolored Grumpig or something.
