I've had Mario Kart on my mind the past few days as I finally have tried Mario Kart Tour however many years after it came out and have been enjoying it and it's been interesting to see how many things from tour are in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe booster pass but even with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's soon to be 96 tracks I still don't consider it my favorite Mario kart.

For me the best Mario Kart always has and likely always will be Mario Kart Double Dash even though it has less content than every single Mario Kart that came after it I just don't think the controls have ever hit like they did in Double Dash, excluding DS I think every Mario Kart has played pretty much the same since DD like yeah each one has it's things that are exclusive to it like the better tricks in wii and such but I think the base controls have felt the same since wii and I've never been a fan. On top of the controls just feeling perfect for me in DD I love how chaotic that game is with the crazy OP items and such and I think it leads to the best multiplayer experience especially when you have 2 players on the same kart you really have to learn how to work with your partner otherwise you'll throw each other all off and that's something no other Mario Kart can offer.

Now that I'm done rambling on about Double Dash what's your favorite Mario Kart?

My favorite Mario Kart is Mario Kart DS. I put so many hours into the games when i was younger. An absolutely blast to play with friends. Great course selections and battle mode was a lot fun.

Yeah, I agree with you that Double Dash is the best Mario Kart game. The mechanic of having two characters on the kart is really neat, especially since each character has unique special items, and switching which character is in the front and which is in the back can influence your chances of getting a specific item that might help you in whatever situation you find yourself in. I have more hours played in Mario Kart Wii than any of the others, but Double Dash is my favorite.

I must agree that Double Dash is definitely the best. It was the first to introduce a new mechanic to the game, which was the two-seater karts, and it was an absolute success at it with also the inclusion of character-specific power-ups adding more spice to the game and a touch of uniqueness so you would actually be enticed to play with all characters, or at least one member of all the pairs included.

I have played 64 and Wii as well, and they didn't quite impress me as much. Wii has a lot more tracks and the gimmick of the motorcycles, but I just don't enjoy it as much as DD. I have tried with friends MK8D and again didn't pique my interest, found it too complicated with all the new mechanics and the new 200cc category was just too fast for some tracks (the reasons why I have switched to other kart games instead of picking it).

I think that DD is the most stable game, not too complicated yet still unique in the saga. It may lack content, but that's a byproduct of its age as back then it was pretty common for games to not be as massively loaded as nowadays.

I wish I had gotten into Mario Kart a bit more as a kid. I had played a lot of Mario Kart Wii at my friend's house and my brother owned the original on SNES. It wasn't until I got Mario Kart 8 in 2015 that I really started getting into the series. With that said, I do think Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is my favorite, and it's easily the one I'm best at playing.

Hey SonicOlmstead! I totally get your love for Mario Kart Double Dash. It's such a classic, and the two-character mechanic really made it unique in the Mario Kart series. The teamwork aspect it brought to multiplayer was definitely a game-changer!

However, my personal favorite has to be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I'm a sucker for the graphics and the huge variety of tracks it offers. Plus, the anti-gravity sections make the races feel fresh and exciting.

What I really love, though, is the online multiplayer feature. I'm a bit on the shy side, so being able to race and have fun with friends and other players from around the world without the pressure of face-to-face interaction is just fantastic. It's a great way for me to enjoy some friendly competition while still staying within my comfort zone.

So, while Double Dash will always hold a special place in my heart, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes the top spot for me. It just offers such a fantastic mix of beautiful visuals, engaging gameplay, and social interaction that fits my personality and preferences perfectly.

The one where I’m double the failure with two instead of one.

I mean… I’m not much of a Mario kart player, since I’ve only played the original, Mario kart 64 and Mario kart 8. Out of the ones I played I would say Crash Team Racing would be my favorite kart racer out of all. Tho since you didn’t make that as an option, how dare you. I would go for Mario Kart 64. Sure it’s simplistic and newer titles become more in depth with the customization and all but I think Mario kart 64 is when things started going well with the series. 3D? Whaaaat. Glitches and speed runs still to this day? Whaaaat. Playing with that ugly control scheme? Whoooa. Also it was the first time I thought rainbow road was fun so.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is my favorite game in the series for a number of reasons.

  1. It manages to simultaneously have both quantity and quality in it’s tracks.
  2. 8 Deluxe has what’s in my opinion the smoothest drift controls in the entire series.
  3. It’s the first non-Japanese arcade game in the series to have characters outside of the Mario franchise.
  4. It has the best online multiplayer experience in the series.
  5. They overhauled 8 Wii U’s battle mode to make it as good as past games, while having the benefit of reason 4 also applying to battle mode.

My favorite would be the SNES one because that is the one I played with my friends and cousins. I also want to think there was one on Nintendo Game Cube I just cannot think of the name of it. I remember me and my friends playing that one along with Mario Party when we would do retreats or disciple now with my old church's youth groups. I usually played as Yoshi, Bowser, or Wario.

Can't go wrong with the OG one, I do like the N64 version as well but sometimes it's kind of hard, I did try to play the DS version online but it's kind of slow regardless of which computer I am playing on (I haven't played it on a DS and I hope it wasn't a game where I would have to blow into the Mic in order for my character to go fast because Wacky Races had the same format and that kind of sucked the fun out of it)
