Everyone always talks about their favorite songs, but I'm more interested in the opposite. What song can you absolutely not stand? What song makes you cringe every time it plays? What song makes you want to take a pair of scissors and shove them into your eardrums?

For me, there are a few contenders. Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling" and Harry Styles's "Watermelon Sugar" are truly awful. They're basic, bland, and have no meaning or purpose other than to be the obnoxious background track that plays while you peruse a store or eat at a restaurant. Imagine Dragons' "Thunder" is also pretty high on the hate list. Not only is it boring and unoriginal, but most of the song is the same word repeated over and over again. A final honorable mention goes to every single Dua Lipa song. Apparently the "powers that be" have decided that she is the next manufactured pop queen, as every one of her boring songs is played unbearably frequently.

All of my least favorite songs share a common trait: I have heard them way more times that I've cared to. The number one song that I absolutely despise is also king in this category. Perhaps it's because I work with kids and the song is seen as "kid-friendly," but for the past eight years I have been unable to avoid the auditory torture that is Pharrell Williams's "Happy." Meaningless and repetitive lyrics, annoying rhythm and vocal tone, and absolutely played to death—the trifecta of awful music. I certainly do not feel like "happiness is the truth" when this song is playing, nor have I ever felt like "a room without a roof."

There's this one song that has been ridiculously overplayed, especially on the internet, for a very long time. We're no strangers to this song. You know the rules, and so do I. Every time this song plays, people laugh. People get so annoyed that they wanna smash the speaker. When people like this song, they have a full commitment to it. They won't stop playing it until you make them. You wouldn't get this from any other song.

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling about this song. Gotta make you understand. From what I can tell, we're never gonna give it up. We're never gonna let it down. We're never gonna run around and desert it. This song always makes you cry, but we're never gonna say goodbye. This song doesn't tell a lie and hurt you, but oh I can't stand it.

We've known this song for so long. Our hearts have been aching, but we're too shy to say it. Because we don't wanna hurt the feelings of the people who absolutely love this song. Inside, we both know what's going on. We know this song, and we're gonna play it.

And if you ask me how I'm feeling about this song, don't tell me you're too blind to see it. Everyone is either obsessed with this song, or they can't stand it. I'm in the latter category. But I believe a certain Rick Astley will never give it up.

I know what you mean when it comes to happy whatever year it was that song came out I legit didn't go a day without hearing it and it got really old just day after day. I'm trying to think of any other songs I hate hearing on the radio but known are really coming to mind. When it comes to gaming however something instantly comes to mind and that's Seven Rings in Hand I would could make fortune based on how many times the song plays in Sonic and the Secret Rings even if I got a single penny each time. I just can't stand "Make believes reborn!" it annoys me so much to hear it and the game just plays it every five freaking seconds who thought it was a good idea to have it play in the intro, in the level select, when you beat a level, and when you fight the final boss like how did they not see how repetitive it was. The soundtrack for that game in general is really repetitive like almost every song has the most repetitive uninspired lyrics I've ever heard like Let the speed mend it mend it mend it or Dino it's a jungle Dino the wicked wild! dino... jungle I just why who thought that was okay I'll never understand. Like even in the songs I don't think are as bad with it they still have like that effect where the vocals like echo and are said a few times which normally I don't think much of it but in a game where all the lyrics are repeated over and over again it drives me insane. Another Sonic related song I hate is Green Hill Zone and it's only because it's just been used so many times where I get annoyed hearing it. I know it's not a popular opinion but I hate Reach for the Stars I've always thought the vocals sound like they have like an autotune effect on them to describe them but I don't think they actually are auto tuned I think it's just not me liking how techno sounding the song is though with that being said I should point out I thought it actually sounded good in the recent Sonic Symphony. I'm sure there's a lot more songs I could sit here and rant about all night but I'll spare you the rest music is important to me so I guess it makes sense that I so easily can rant about songs I dislike.

Country music I can’t tolerate. I don’t do no country I’m a city boy I tell you. Then this one… for reasons I can’t say because I’ll be in trouble, is that stupid hamster song. The old weird hamster song just no I’ll cut you out of my life immediately if you play it when I’m around

Anything by Ariana Grande from the last few years. I still like her but I've slowly grown to like her music less and less.

Anything of the Reggaeton style is absolute puke for me. I'm so done with how these artists are triumphing, when their songs are whatever but friendly. Stupid lyrics, awful voices, bad singing, horrible rhythm... I just can't stand it.

I also absolutely despise Hang the DJ, a song by my all-time favorite band Scooter. It's included in their latest album, full of bangs, but this one is an absolute fail. They took the sample melody from an epic song, Going Insane by Warpbrothers, and destroyed it. The bagpipes were toned down, the melody altered and the rhythm just doesn't go along. I know Scooter hasn't treated some epic melodies or samples the way they should, but with this one they totally deserve a slap with a paper fan.

becerra95 : I don't like country music either. There are very few country songs I enjoy, and the rest I just desperately want to get out my head before I go crazy. It's sad because 99% of the guys in my dorm hall at college are really into country music, so I hear it all the time and still don't like it XD

There are a mix of songs I don't like, the most being Happy by Pharrell. In itself the song isn't atrocious, its bad for sure, but when it first came out it was played to death on every station possible, and it never really died. They still play that song at every event you ever go to. To say I despise it would be an understatement.

Aside from that one, I hate the oh no song that is used all over tiktok, it's just beyond annoying. Theres other songs I dont like musically, like Astronaut in the Ocean, but have good value as memes so I can't completely hate them.

Oh there are so many, but the absolute worse is a toss up right now between Rihanna's Work and the god aweful Watermelon sugar high... Ugh, just makes me cringe hearing either of them....... Seriously, stop making songs with so much stupid filler. Make something to be proud of, not just to put something out there.

I've talked in here about songs I've despised for years but recently a new song has made me hate it with all my might so I must talk about this song...

I've already talked about all the frustration it caused me in osu! in my gaming blog post so I'll stay away from covering that part of it again. Instead I'll focus on just how annoying this song is to me which is hard to explain like I know I watched my mom play a ton of chocobo races when I was younger but something about the rap and everything in this version just ticks me off I wanna punch it in it's face it gives me a headache but you can't even punch a song so I don't know what I'm going on about now.

Most despised songs? Where do I even begin. I hate just about anything from Arianna Grande, hate Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off" with a burning passion, Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are" (the message is fine, I just hear it ad nauseam and I've grown to hate it as a result), can't stand "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran and "Can't Stop the Feeling!" by Justin Timberlake. There's also the "Gonna be the best day of my life" song that I might just despise the most just because of how often I heard it at my first job and how often I still hear it any time I go into a store to shop.

That's my list for now, but I will update it with anything else that comes to mind since it is pretty late at the time I'm posting this.

I can get behind just about every criticism here but Bara's comments on Happy. Well composed, upbeat, catchy word for word. Only problems I have with it is the fact it came from the Dispicable Me soundtrack and it was too big of a hit so it got exhausting after a few months.

For me, any song by Imagine Dragons is super grating. It's like they went to one Muse concert and became inspired to make the most meaningless arena filler you can imagine. The reverb, the choruses, the instrumentals. All bad.

The song that I hate the most currently would probably be Lift Yourself by Kanye West a friend introduced me to it in high school and I have hated it ever since, the worst bit is that it doesn't even start out that bad but then you get to the halfway point I'll just let you listen for yourself...
