Should the state get involved when parents let there children under the age of 18 years old get 200lbs over whight? should the Child Protective Services take the kid away? do you think it's child abuse? do you think there should be a law to make the parents do right?

That is a bit of a tough question... I mean, I suppose that if the obesity is the result of some kind of neglect then yes, they should get involved. However, if the kid is that fat because they don't exercise and spend all their money on junk food then what really is there for the parents to do?

Now, if the kid is under ten and that heavy, then I lean towards involvement again because there is something odd going on there.

Of course, that would be after ruling out glandular problems and other medical issues like that.

I think they should get involved with kids under 10 or 12.... no kid should be that heavy.

Sure, if it is a medical problem then the kid shouldn't be removed from the house.... but if they're that large because of the habits of the parents in how they treat the child then for the sake of the childs health they should at the very least get involved and if nothing changes then take the child away.

It's a tough situation though. It would have to be on a case by case basis because no situation is the same =/

I think they should get involved with young kids but if were talking like 15 and up maybe even 16 and up. I think at that age they realize what is good to eat and what is bad. They also realize if they have a weight issue and need to ask for help if they do. If they don't then they are prolly being ignorant to the fact that they have a weight problem. It might fall on the parents to a degree but not entirely when there older.
