Are there any JRPGs you really like that need more love than they get? For me, the ones I can think of are Great Greed, Summon Night: Swordcraft Story, and a few RPG Maker games I've played over the years. Great Greed is the only environmentalist JRPG that I've ever played, and it's unique and well-designed enough to be worth playing. Summon Night: Swordcraft Story feels like Tales of Phantasia with better balance and good controls, and RPG Maer stuff like 8-Bit Adventures, Tales Across Time, and Villnoire are excellent for what they are.

Fate/Extra is a fantastic game by all means. The gameplay can be rather simple before you start learning more skills, to which then strategy gets involved, but it has an absolutely amazing story to tell from start to finish.

Although not nearly as obscure, I do wish Persona 3 and 4 got more recognition than 5 does... they are both better than 5 is by a wide margin.

Oh hey, a NovemberJoy post, always great to see you around.

Anyway, I recall Arc the Lad being an interesting experience. The first game left a bland taste in my mouth, but it was rather short. I have heard however, that the second one is far superior, so maybe it's worth checking out. The first was rather short anyway.

Radiata Stories is a PS2 game dear to my brother's heart, I am certain it is a reasonably good time, so it may also be worth looking into.

The Legend of Legaia 1 & 2 are both beautiful experiences where you use directional inputs to unlock attacks. It's turn based, but you can put a different combination of directions in, and certain combos create special moves for specific characters. It's really fun to discover a special move you've never seen before.

I have other suggestions, but I'm not sure they're obscure enough, hope these work out. I'll try to think of more in the meantime.
