Ok sorry if this is a stupid question but would it be possible to have like say the American version of a game and then the Japanese version? like patch the Japanese to English or just have people use an online script for the game? i ask this because i have noticed a lot of changes and censorship between Japanese and US versions of games. for example i started a thread asking for Pokemon green and we started talking about the differences between American and Japanese blue. and Final Fantasy III for snes was actually censored (cussing, nudity, things like that.) and the GBA version of that game called Final Fantasy 6 Advanced was censored even more (the scene with the girl being tortured while being chained up was cut out). i would like to be able to see these differences and compare them.

I think I get what you mean.
Like make a script patch for Pokemon Green (for example) using the US Blue script as it's basis right?
That could possibly be done, but I'm not sure how myself (yet).
I think it would involve taking the script out of a US Blue rom using a hex viewer / dumper then pasting it into a JP Green rom, but you would have to be careful as the character set is different in the JP version (ie, there might not be enough dialog boxes to fit all the English script).
This would only work if there are virtually no differences between the US and JP versions, so if the JP version of a game has extra areas the script would have to be placed in differently (so you would need someone who knows what they are doing).

well what i meant was have the American game and have the Japanese game in the game room. look for a translation patch for the Japanese game or just have people google something like Pokemon blue script and use that as a translation guide.

EDIT: however i like your ideas as well providing we can find someone who can do that.

Well for games that are vastly different in other regional versions I'm all for having both versions in the RGR.
For example, the Nes game Contra is called Probotector in Europe, and features robots instead of people.
It's almost like a completely different game really. So it might be interesting to have Final Fantasy 3/6 JP in the RGR.
Once I have access to my rom drive again I can look what already has translation patches, but that might be a little while

Well I could Always scope them out using my best friend GOOGLE. I think that could work just look up different games and see regional differences and then download the roms from the different regions and google translation patches and also google for a fan translated script if necessary. I could either send you the files somehow or send you the links I just would really like to contribute to RGR somehow.
EDIT: also i just found out that the Japanese version of contra had a STORY wow and that it had graphic features that were cut out of the US release. downloaded the rom and English patch.
