Hey guys. I'm back. In my absence I managed to lose 2 TP and have my post rating drop by 15 points. Not sure how, but whatever. Also, 4 PMs and 151 notifications

From now on....

- I will no longer compete in any competitions
- I will no longer debate since all it does is cause my post rating to plummet.

Post rating, shmost shmating... don't worry about it. You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

If people don't want to see a side of you that they don't like they shouldn't be knuckleheads. Which brings me to this other "thing" - I must be totally out of the loop but do whatever you gotta do. (Maybe it's a chat thing?)
There's people around here that refuse to be friendly when I extend the hand of friendship or try to show kindness in my own way and I gave up associating with them. The situations sound similar and there's nothing wrong with completely disassociating and ignoring what they say.

Glad to see you've come back man. I don't mind if you aren't really active anymore, and honestly, you shouldn't worry about people disliking your posts or viewpoints when it comes to debates (or even your honest. sarcastic side) because some people just can't handle it and the only way they feel they can express that is by rating you down and disliking posts. Don't worry about it, you can't always please everyone.

I'm happy to see you've returned though. I might actually put a similar plan of less activity and only posting where and when it is needed sometime in the future. I hope you don't plan on leaving again anytime soon unless you want to have your inbox flooded with a million notifications XD.

Happens on any website with a rating system, not that those are bad, but hey, it happens.

I used to be full throttle debating like you did, then I quit. I just. . . didn't have time anymore.

Period.

Even my Star Fox Rp is almost dead. + the only reason that I've been doing these fanfics is because of the long ride here and back (no internet, only when I get home) . Plus, I started them back when I thought that I'd have loads of time. I'd hate to just leave those fanfics unfinished there like that.

Same for debates.

Although I'd rather get to the root of the topic and then just leave since it's possible to get to the point to where you're just going in circles.

I'm not phased or gonna be pushed around. But, I won't waste my time talking about it either when I already have enough stuff that needs done.

So. . . I've been gone for. . . a while with debating actually. (except for Tour De Vizzed, that was pretty awesome.)

I just can't waste my time on it anymore. And your posts- even your good ones will get disliked. It's hard for anyone to come out of there with a + 1 rating on any post.

Remember, in the end what's really important, is you do what is right, as best as you can see it.

Welcome back tgags. And as others have stated, you don't really need to care about having a decrease in post rating. It's normal for someone to have that on vizzed and it doesn't really matter much. Users just dislike posts based on their opinions. As for trust points, you're an elite so why be concerned about that? That can't really hurt you. lol. It's also normal to be a bit inactive from vizzed. I'm not very active myself at times to be honest.

I dunno what else to say back welcome back I guess. Have fun with your notifications and PM's. XD

Light Knight : That is the exact reason that I will not talk to him. Well, one of the reasons. I am done with the stupid drama. Also the reason that I am staying away from the debate forum.

If you are trying to solve some problems that you have with the relations of other members, you should probably fix how you interact with others. While a couple of the things that you say are good starts, there are some that just miss the point. Honesty is not the issue here, but it is the way how certain things are being presented that makes a person look unreasonable. It is important to have the wisdom of being able to see both sides of the story as well as having solid communication skills without trying to argue with the intention of trying to offend someone. And if someone is easily emotionally affected, your sound judgment would be affected and would trigger actions that are not thought through. Being able to do think things through and able to control one's impulsive reactions is a sign of one's maturity as well as vital aspect of holding one's reputation of being reasonable. Being overly nice without being genuine would cause more harm than good, and honest responses can be done in a reasonable manner.

Oh, and retaliation is not tolerated here at all. It's never considered to be a mature response and it's something that people can expect from people who might be too young to be able to talk things out in conflict.

When you are finally honest about those things and to humble yourself as to how such responses trigger negative reactions, you would understand why you have a drop on those points in such a staggering amount (they are mostly done around the time that you left, which is also around the time that you made that one thread that was overly generalized and not treated fairly in terms of the issue). It might be good for you to stay away from debates for a little bit until you are able to handle them in a calm and reasonable manner.

play4fun : I don't really want to solve problems with those members. I find that avoiding them completely works a lot better.

Honesty is an issue apparently, because whenever I am honest I get attacked both with words and dislikes. Everyone liked me (or hated me less, rather) when I sugarcoated everything.

Usually I am not trying to offend someone. The majority of the time I will not insult someone unless they insult me first.

I agree that I do have trouble controlling impulsive reactions sometimes. Not going to deny that. That being said.... You guys probably won't believe me, but if you ask any of my real life friends they will tell you that it is impossible to make me angry. And in real life it is true. I don't know why, but whenever someone gets made and starts screaming insults at me, I stay calm and just laugh at them. For some reason, it is different on the internet. Not sure why. It may have something to do with the fact that just simply laughing at the person is not as satisfying on the internet.

That thread was fair because I even specified in the beginning that I was referring to extremists. Everyone seemed to ignore that part I guess.

The only debate that actually got me angry was the one above.

The reason that I am staying away from debates is not because I feel that I cannot handle them. It is simply because this website is 90% liberal, so I constantly lose TP and my post rating constantly drops, and I am constantly being told that I am stupid. It is just annoying. I debate on a lot of other websites (and in real life) and people often tell me that I am pretty good at debating. It is only a problem here, because I am outnumbered so much.

You are probably going to disagree with me, but that's fine. We never seem to agree on anything, so I am just going to accept that. I'm not going to challenge anything you say from now on unless it REALLY upsets me or is REALLY unreasonable in my opinion.

tgags123 : I think that is where the real main issue. You keep focusing on numbers when it comes to debates, when it should be a fair and reasonable argument that should define them. I consider myself a minority on my beliefs on this site as well, yet I have no problem in being honest and firm to truth, but at the same time, I don't throw out something that sounds or act unreasonable. You can be truthful, firm, and even trying to be convicting, but it's the other ways to communicate those things that makes it a problem.

The only times that disagree with you are the times that you just let your emotions run away from you and hinders your judgment, and this is just another example. Think back, the certain thread responses, the certain PMs that you sent me. All of those things ended with you saying "sorry, I get too impulsive sometimes" or something like that. It's always been like that.

It's simple communication etiquette that makes the people to want to talk to you, and can still have a solid conversation even when both sides disagree. You yourself said that you don't act that way in real life. And I'm pretty sure that there is a significant amount of friends that you have that are liberal as well. Notice that it is that particular thread that got you this much trouble. If you were to actually talk in that way in real life with your friends, they would have reacted the same way as to the reaction you received here. Sit down and look back at how you say certain things in that thread, because all those dislikes and TP drops from that particular thread should be giving you some warning bells on the way that you communicated. People know you said "extremists", it's the rest of the thread and the way it was communicated that either you didn't get your point out correctly or you generalize the point to make it say that the group act just like extremist. Especially since if it were just about extremists, there would be no debate, but you communicated it as if it was talking about the general group.

You have shown that you can debate or be a solid debater, but when you let that emotion dominate how you talk, all of that goes down the drain, both here and in real life (You yourself admitted that that was the only one that got you angry). And you are definitely not the first one I've seen on this site that lets that happen. Those who can't change never recovered on this site, while others who are still trying to develop that are still around and hanging on. There have been examples before you who have the same issue. It's not new. They should be a guide to you on how you deal with this. Anger is a natural emotion. It's how you use it that determines the reasonableness and maturity of a response.

I agree with play 100%.. You know I think you've been an awesome member, tgags, but you've certainly had a change of personality recently.

First, who cares about post count?  Sure, it's awesome that you get rated up because it shows that people either like you, or like what you have to say.  Even if you have the second most dislikes, you also have one of THE highest amount of likes.  It seems rather petty to back away from major posting when your likes STILL trump most everyone's on the site.

I also don't believe that all of your dislikes come from debating. (Maybe a good portion, but certainly not ALL of them.)  As play mentioned, your amount of dislikes is STAGGERING.  I won't mention the number, but the top few people with dislikes all have a very, very insane amount of dislikes.  I rank number 19 on the list and I have 28 dislikes.  There's a clear 'jump' in the line where a few people suddenly jump into the hundreds (when it comes to number of dislikes).  That's how wide the gap is.

Secondly, for you to say that you won't retaliate in public, but will do so in pm..... shows a VERY high lack of maturity.  In fact, I'd go so far as to say that retaliating in pm is more immature than retaliating in public.  At least in public, you'd be showing your true character, instead of hiding behind secret letters.

The 'retaliation' bit about your thread is what bothers me the most. Why retaliate at all?  There are sensible ways to respond to disagreements, but snapping back is certainly not one of them.  This is the side I've seen most from you recently, and THIS is what I dislike.... not the fact that you debate.   We happen to agree on a lot of issues, but even if we disagreed, I wouldn't care.  

You haven't been 'sarcastic and honest'.  You've been rude, mean, and nasty.  There's a difference, and from your post here, you don't seem to understand that difference.  Perhaps the step back will be good for you.  As play said, don't fake niceness. It'd be a burden to yourself and would create non-genuine relationships on the site.  However, minding your tongue and having more tact is something you can practice, as all of us can.

Good luck, and don't be discouraged. We all go through phases in which we realize we need to fine-tune ourselves.

tgags123 : I love the honest side of you. The sarcastic side...not so much. You can be both bubbly and honest, without being brutally honest or refusing to have an open mind on things you don't have absolute knowledge of. Become the awesome dude we all know and love you for.

And contention won't help you get far. People will pick fights with you. My brother does it quite often to me. But I'm learning how to deal with it without throwing verbal punches back.
