This is the very first "Official" vizzed tournament. I plan to hold 4 a year. This competition will involve games of multiple genres. Each user will play 8 games of "regular" season and the users with the best record will advance to a playoffs. Depending on how many people enter this tournament, the playoffs will be 3 or 4 games. Each week you'll play against a user 3 times in 3 different games. You get a point for each win which contributes to your overall points. Users will be separated into divisions and whoever has the most points in their division will advance to the playoffs. The games that this tournament will involve: -Super Mario Kart (snes) -Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers (snes) -Donkey Kong (nes) -Sonic 2 (gen) -D-Pad Hero 2 (nes) There will be a few other games as well but they will remain secret for now Requirements: -You must live in the United States (unless you have had very little lag problems playing netplay with USA users) -The RGR Plugin must work fine on your computer, especially for NES, SNES, Genesis and Netplay games (since that's what we'll be using) Prizes: 1st = 50,000 Viz 2nd = 10,000 Viz 3rd = 5,000 Viz Entry Fee: 1,000 Viz (you can send me the viz by going to my profile) The tournament will probably start next Wednesday, 4/3/2013. Contribution Point System I've been working on this feature for 3 weeks now so I'm very excited to finally introduce you all to the Contribution Point System. This new point system is a measure of how much you contribute to the site. Almost every action on the site now has CP and Viz attached to it. The higher your CP is, the more features that will be available to you and the more respected you'll be among the staff and the rest of the users. It will also increase your chances of becoming a staff member. List of Contribution Point Actions and a list of points you've earned: http://www.vizzed.com/boards/contributionpoints.php That page will show every single action, a description, the amount of CP and Viz each action is worth, daily limits based on powerlevel, how many points you've earned for each action, and more. Moderators have the ability to track all Contribution Actions and they also have the ability to remove points that you earn from certain actions so if you're caught abusing the system in any way, you'll be stripped of your points and probably banned. As time goes on, I'll add more actions to the list of actions that award you Viz and CP. User Submitted Game Content Users with a power level of "Normal" and above now have the ability to add content and change content on games. Here's how it works: Each game page has a link that you can click that opens up a window with all kinds of data that you can change for a game. If a game is missing any information, you simply click to add it and a staff member will review your request. If your request is a good request, a staff member will accept your request and your content will be added to the game's page and you'll be granted CP and Viz. If you submit bad content, you'll be at risk of being down rated by a staff member and users with less than 0 Trust Points can't submit content. Users can also submit content to games in the Video Game Room. In the future I'll make it so that you can add graphics to games and also add missing games. For the entire Month of March, there will be unlimited Netplay. This means that there wont be any Netplay restrictions. Usually you can only join sessions and need the special 'Netplay' item to create the sessions. Hopefully this will encourage more netplay sessions to take place. It allows you to play many of the games in the Retro Game Room online in multiplayer mode with 1 or more other users. Some of the systems include: Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, N64, Nintendo NES and more. How do I create a session? Go to a game that supports netplay. Scroll down to the netplay section and click the link to create a netplay session. Fill in the info and your game will become ready for other people to join. How do I join a session? Each game that supports netplay will show a list of active sessions. You can also go to the lobby page (link at top of the RGR) and that page will have a list of all active sessions for all games. I took down the Vizzed Youtube Video Uploader a few weeks ago but it's now back up. What is the 'Vizzed Youtube Video Uploader'? It allows you to upload videos to the Vizzed youtube account that you recorded with the Vizzed RGR Plugin. This is convenient for users who don't have a youtube account, don't want to clutter their own youtube account or simply want to help out vizzed. Where do you find the 'Vizzed Youtube Video Uploader'? In the video section of any game page, you'll see a link that says 'Click to Upload your Video to Vizzed Youtube', you click that. How do you record videos using the Vizzed RGR Plugin? Not all games support it but many games let you record a video of yourself playing the game by pressing either F8 or clicking the Record button which appears in the play window. By default, some games don't support video recording so sometimes you gotta click the 'Play game using Mednafen' link at the top left of the play window. Here's how you can earn Viz by simply recording yourself playing games This is probably the easiest way to earn lots of Viz; simply record videos of your gameplay and upload it to either your youtube account (be sure to link your video to the game's page) or by uploading it to the Vizzed youtube account. Over the past few months since my last batch of games added, I've added 242 more, I've also fixed a few that weren't working in the RGR that I'll list since you probably wouldn't know. An additional update is the inclusion of the Real Time Clock enabled for Pokemon hacks. Basically, some of them require that setting enabled in order for certain time-based events to occur which may have prevented progression in the game without it. Enjoy. For the past few years, the forum has desperately been in need of a new Trust Point System, one that can't be as easily abused and one that the staff has more control over. I have finally recreated the Trust Point System from the ground up using ideas that I've come up with and that others have come up with over the past few years. For those who don't know, the Trust Point system is a system that measures a user's loyalty to vizzed and their trustworthiness among the forum users. When a user gets enough Trust Points, they become a 'Trusted Member' which gives them a few extra privileges and sets them apart from everyone else. Trust Points are meant to be earned by posting quality posts and by earning respect from fellow users and staff. Trust Points are NOT meant to be purchased or asked for and anyone asking for them is at risk of losing all their current points and possibly even banned. The RGR Plugin 2.0 is finally here and just in time for the 3 year anniversary of the RGR Plugin (not the anniversary of the Retro Game Room though, that's been around a lot longer). The NFL is in the playoffs and the Super Bowl will be soon so I figured this would be the perfect time to hold a Tecmo Super Bowl Netplay Tournament. We'll be playing the Tecmo Super Bowl 2013 (TecmoBowl.org hack) version of the game. Each user will play 4 games of "regular" season and the teams with the best record will advance to a playoffs. Depending on how many people enter this tournament, the playoffs will be 3-5 games. When 2 users are paired up to play against each other, they have 2 days to play against each other. If this tournament goes well, than I'll make it a habit of holding a netplay tournament every month and various games. Requirements: -You must live in the United States (there'd be too much lag with people in other countries) -The RGR Plugin must work fine on your computer, especially for NES and Netplay games (since that's what we'll be using) Prizes: 1st = 10,000 Viz 2nd = 2,500 Viz 3rd = 1,000 Viz If you want to enter, simply respond to the below thread.
