Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl Featured Review

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl Review by: The Star of Mus.. - 9.9/10

Time to Save the World! Highlander Style!
All Right! Let's get started with another review! Hope you enjoy this one too. Also quick mention I try not to spoil things so if I'm a bit vague you know why. Thanks, enjoy!

Graphics: 10

Ok, so I know the 3DS has great graphics and great video capabilities, but I was still amazed. This game has amazing graphics. From the town of Etria to the Dungeon inside Yggdrasil to the battles. But most of all the 10 or so cut-scenes including the opening are just amazing and I could watch them over and over. Good thing you can watch them again after seeing them once in the story mode. They sadly don't appear in classic as this is a new feature added to the remake.

Sound: 10

Now I'm a sucker for good game music and this game has tons of it. The story mode has revamped music from the original games that in most cases sound better. But you can manually switch to the old style from original game through the menu or by playing the classic mode which sets everything to be like the original version. But like before you can switch the sound in the menu.

Addictiveness: 9

Now don't get me wrong. I would play this game over and over. But there are some parts that are a bit annoying and not easy to do. Like item quests... spent an entire day on one such quest... and some boss fights I barely made it through. But as much as those things bug me I will definitely replay this game many times over... mainly in story mode but that's just my opinion.

Story: 10

This part will be difficult for me as I could go all day about the story. But Cliffnotes version: your character has a unique class that is not available other than in story mode. The Highlander class is very powerful. With the ability to use HP to boost power and copy elements of allies. Story mode also gives another class exclusive. The Gunner class uses, you guessed it, guns. The character excels in long range elemental attacks... or at least mine did. Anyway the point of the story both in classic and story mode is to stop the monster in the tree. Story mode goes more in depth with the behind the scenes of why and how to defeat it.

Depth: This game took me a long time to beat. Part of it was due to other things going on and also me trying to complete everything possible to get stronger before the final boss. I usually don't go completionist until after beating a game but seeing as I needed exp and quests are easy exp both while doing them and afterward as a reward you get more exp. So that extra is helpful for later. The sooner you do them the less tedious they are. But there are a ton of them. Luckily you don't have to search for a person in the field to accept them. They are all posted at the pub making access to them easier and more appear as you progress the story. Oh, plus a new game plus allows you to carry over maps, characters, items, and money to a new play-through. The old characters join the new version of your guild.

Difficulty: 10

I rate this high more for the fact of the bosses then overall gameplay. Some of the bosses are way overpowered for the level that the game effectively allows you to achieve. Without spoiling anything there were a few later in the game that left me with one guy left alive and red health one that solo survivor. And that's on picnic mode... I don't want to see them in hard mode.... But that aside most of the FOES and normal enemies are a breeze once you figure out their weakness or get to a high enough level. Plus after new game plus you can have high grade items on level 1 brand new characters making the beginning a cakewalk. But that wont last. I still got stomped by some of the later bosses even with my levels high and gear maxed at that point. And again, this is on picnic mode.

Overall: 9.9

This game is so well done I can't help but be amazed and eagerly awaiting the new one that is coming or may be out I'm not sure. Either way this one was definitely worth the money. So much to do and such beautiful scenery and sound. Despite the few issues in the difficulty and annoying item missions the story kept dragging me back as I would wonder what was going to happen next.

I hope that the people who read this will also end up loving this game. Thanks for reading as always! Time to go play the rest of classic mode... hopefully... :)
