Puzzle Agent Review by: RDay13 - 8.1/10

A Minnesota Mystery
Hey guys, it's RDay with my 3rd review I've made. This time I'll be reviewing the game Puzzle Agent (on Steam). I bought this game for 10K viz on the Vizzed Market a while ago and I finished it about a month ago. (Been procrastinating this review forever lol.) Puzzle Agent is a
cartoon animated game that, like the title implies, involves a lot of puzzles. (There might be a few spoilers in here, so if you are looking to play this game, watch out, but I'll try my best to avoid spoilers.)

Graphics: 8
This game's graphics are decent. I really liked the way the characters were drawn actually. It was kind of cute, but it was kind of professional too. I didn't find anything major wrong with the graphics besides one small thing. When you proceed to a different part of the town in the game, Scoggins, there's like a pause for several seconds before you get to the next place. I'm not the most patient person when it comes to video games, lol, so this was probably the only drawback I say the game has in terms of graphics.

Sound: 8
The sound in this game is alright. I wouldn't say it's significantly better than any other game I've played or anything like that, but it was still good. I loved the quaint feeling of the town that is brought about by the music. I like how the background music is kind of uneasy, but not scary or creepy. In my opinion, it has a good balance of happiness and fearfulness. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but I like it. The voices of the characters in the game are clear and can be heard well for the most part.

Addictiveness: 8
Ok, so originally, I could not stop playing this game. I would have given this a 10 for addictiveness, if not for the sub-par ending. It was very disappointing in my opinion, and I'll just leave it at that to avoid spoilers. The puzzles, for the most part, were great and almost all of them were pretty challenging. (Although that might be because I'm slow, lol.) I am definitely going to play this game again, and I already have finished it twice, so it is pretty addicting.

Story: 9
The story in this game is great! It has a few twists and turns in the game. It’s not really your average puzzle game, as you embark on a quest with a good storyline. The game begins with you getting a weird message from a mysterious figure at your workplace in the FBI. You piece together (literally) that you must go to Scoggins, Minnesota because there is an issue with the eraser factory, which produces erasers for the President. Here, you meet several mysterious people who are not all as they seem to be. You must solve a bunch of puzzles to work your way through the many problems you will face in the game.

Depth: 3

This is one of the few drawbacks I see in this game. I finished the whole thing in span of about 4 hours, which isn’t long at all. There isn’t really anything to do after you finish the main storyline, which is kind of disappointing.  Although the quality of the game is pretty good, there’s not that much to do in the game, and you have to follow a pretty fixed plot, with little deviation.

Difficulty:6

The difficulty in this game can be whatever you want. You get the same puzzles, but you can use chewing gum that you find around the game to give you clues/hints to help solve the puzzle. You can use up to 3 pieces of gum for each puzzle that you come across. I used gum for some of the puzzles, but I only used all 3 pieces once or twice. I think that if you didn’t have clues or hints in this game, the difficulty would be an 8 or a 9, but the 3 piece max prevents the difficulty from being a low 2 or 3, so I have to go with a 6 for this one.

Overall: 8.1

I rated half of the sections an 8, one section slightly above, and 2 sections below. However, each of these sections carries a different weight personally, so I will give this game an 8.1 overall. I really liked the puzzles and the game's puzzles got harder and harder as it went on. I think the plot kind of collapsed near the end, and wasn't nearly satisfying enough, but I still am going to play the next game in this series, because the puzzles are so fun! I recommend you play this game if you're a puzzle addict like me!
