Pokemon Liquid Crystal (beta 3.1) Review by: XxEzraxX - 10/10
Pokemon Liquid Crystal ReviewLet me start by saying that I really enjoyed this hack, the game is a complete remake of Pokémon Crystal but with a few added Trainers to make it a little more interesting. I played through this and wanted to play it again. I loved it and I think that many other people will love it as well, it is as good if not better than Pokémon Shiny Gold. Of course I think a lot of people will agree with me that Crystal was the best out of the G/S/C line up. I have rated this game a 10. I felt that it lives up to the original Crystal, and that the hacker who created the game worked very hard on it.
Everything pretty much plays out just like in Crystal, only now you will meet with a few new trainers you have never seen before, one keeps showing up after random Gym battles and certain events to see how you are progressing and how you are treating and training your Pokémon. I was very impressed with the hack on the grounds of how the map was made, if you take a look you will notice it looks a lot like fire red and leaf green but it also really looks like you are in the region of Johto where the game takes place. And that really amazes me, which is the reason why I gave the graphics of the game a 10.
I was also really quite impressed with the sound too, it had all of the music of Johto in the styles of fire red. This person had to have worked really hard to make the music change like that (just like in Shiny Gold). I really enjoyed the music of the gyms, it was quite catchy to me. As for the addictiveness of the game I also rated that a 10, it was super addictive and super fun it was almost like I was experiencing Crystal all over again for the first time. I had a blast playing this game, and I think that a lot of die hard Pokémon fans will too. It is definitely a game worth trying.
I rated the depth of the game a 7, it was pretty much the same as Pokémon Crystal but what made it seem more to me was the addition of the trainers who where not there before. It was as if the creator added more rivals for you and I think that adds to the game. Makes it more fun and realistic. As for difficulty, seeing as a lot of Pokémon games are really not that hard at all I rated this a 5. It was pretty simple all you need to do is catch tons of Pokémon, battle lots of trainers beat all the gym leader and elite four and Red. Everything that Crystal was. The only problems I ever ran into was when I wasn't at a high enough level to beat a trainer and that can be fixed with a little bit of level grinding like in any other Pokémon game.
Although this game is not really that challenging, it is fun and a very enjoyable experience. I had a wonderful time playing the game. I think that a lot of Pokémon fans will too. For all of those who enjoyed Crystal I recommend this game, I even recommend this game over Crystal for those who are younger and newer to Pokémon because this game for newer people will be at a much faster pace and may interest the younger generation rather than the original Pokémon games.
