Sonic the Hedgehog GameGear version
Sonic the Hedgehog was first released on the SEGA Genesis in 1991 selling 15 million copies. The game got ported onto the Master System and Game Gear shortly after. I'm going to review the Game Gear version for this review. Let's see how it is shall we?

 The story is the same as the genesis version. Which is pretty simple, in south island a demented scientist named Dr. Ivo, Robotnik, aka Dr Eggman. Invades South Island and captures tiny innocent animals and steals the chaos emeralds. Only one cool dude can stop this evil man and that is Sonic the Hedgehog. A super fast, blue hedgehog. His goal is to save the animals, get the chaos emeralds, defeat Robotnik, and return peace to the Island. Robotnik knows your coming to destroy him. So he placed traps and evil "badniks".

The graphics for this game are okay but there's not much detail. Mostly bright pastel colors and some low detailed backgrounds. Plus sonic doesn't have a nose. The good side of the graphics is the themes look great and green hill, labyrinth zone, and scrap brain zone, look quite similar to the Genesis version. Just not as good of backgrounds that's all. 

The sound isn't too bad. The music is quite nice and memorable. The sound effects however are a lot more high pitched, which tends to get annoying over time.

This game is not very addicting I beat it once to try it out, and played it again to get all the chaos emeralds and see the slightly different ending. I never really played it after that.

There's not very much to offer for this game. 6 zones with 3 acts, so 18 levels (which aren't very long), a map which just shows the Island and zone your on,and  a special stage which gives you points, lives, and continues. What's really disappointing is that there's no special stage for getting the chaos emeralds. So you got to look for them, which I found easy in the beginning and a and a lot harder in the later levels when you encounter alternate paths.
 
The game is harder than the Genesis version because.

The hunt for chaos emeralds.

There's no rings on the boss stage.

The traps are faster with more enemies in them.

Overall I recommend you play the Genesis version and not this one. If you want to check it out. Fine, but I'll tell you right now that it's nowhere near as good as the Genesis version.

Sonic the Hedgehog is the first of many games starring Sega's premier rodent, Sonic. It's a side scrolling platform game with a difference: speed. Sonic rushes through levels with incredible speed, allowing him to traverse loops and jumps with ease. The plot of the game is simple. The evil Dr. Robotnik has captured many of Sonic's animal friends, and trapped them inside robots. Fortunately, Sonic can free his friends by destroying the robots with his spin attack. Meanwhile, Dr. Robotnik is trying to control the all-powerful chaos emeralds. Sonic must grab them before he does in the 3D rotating bonus levels. Sonic's weapon is his spin attack; while jumping, Sonic destroys hostile robots by touch. Throughout the platforming levels, Sonic collects numerous rings. If Sonic is hit by an enemy, all the rings he's carrying fall out and scatter around; Sonic can quickly grab the rings back before they disappear. If Sonic is hit while not carrying any rings, he dies. Collecting 100 rings gives Sonic an extra life. There is also an invincibility bonus which temporarily protects Sonic from all attacks. The game is divided into several "zones", each of them containing three levels. At the end of each zone Sonic confronts Dr. Robotnik in a boss fight. Sonic the Hedgehog is a significant game because it gave Sega it's first real mascot, and established the Genesis as the video game system with "attitude."

There are one of two endings you can get when you complete the game. One doesn't give full closure to the game's story but the other does.

 This game is hard also. It is harder than the genesis version! But it is still awesome and fun. The Bridge zone's music is awesome. Great game for Sonic the Hedgehog.

 Sonics got no nose on this version XD. Theirs another sonic the hedgehog version. but its ps2 and pc. the levels are sorta diffrent.
