The ultimate game of cat and mouse.I am going to over one of my old time games. Tom and Jerry from the Super Nintendo entertainment system. There are some fun things about this game, and it is definitely worth a play; but you are not going to hear me bragging on this on as much as I have on the others. That I have reviewed...
Graphics: There were some good things about the graphics, but they really were not as good as they could have been. The best part of the graphics is when you are in the toy store. That's about it. They were actually good, but nothing extraordinary for it's time. Although I will say that every character and all the colors look pretty sharp. So, I think this department deserves a 9.
Sound: I really do not have anything really good to say about the sound department. Of course, there is nothing horrible for me to say about it either. But it really could have been better. There were only 4 tunes in the game. The start-up tune, the tune that played when you died, and two tunes that will alternate every other level. Come on! Speedy had a tune for every world! (And there were more worlds in that game than in this one. Speedy had seven worlds...tom and Jerry has four.) So I really cannot be too impressed with the game for this. The tunes that did exist were not really catchy either (not like the game that only had one tune, but it was really catchy and upbeat. For this game, it almost does not even matter if you have the sound on or not. It sounds about the same. I think it's a bit high, but I'll give it a 7 just because there were not really bad sounds...just mundane.
Addictiveness: Yeah, I cannot give this a high rating either, it was one of the games that I played the most when I was a little kid. Anymore, though, I would not give it much of a thought. I really do not like to do this to games, but I'm going to give it a 5. It just does not have enough in it to keep me coming back to it. It's far too shallow a game for my tastes.
Story: There really is not much to say here. The only story that you get is at the end...Since I'm not supposed to spoil stuff, I'll give it a 5 and move on.
Depth: As I mentioned before, there are only 4 worlds to this game. Each world has 3 levels, and the levels are not long! There really is nothing to do in the level other than get to the end. Once you finish the game, that's pretty much it. I will say that when I was a few years younger, I still came back to it and played it through a lot more times, but now... I've experienced a lot more in gaming, and this one just seems to lack a lot of good things that could have been added.
Difficulty: Then, it seemed impossible. Now, it would be a joke! But if you have never played the game through before, it might be somewhat difficult, so I will grant this department a 6.
Overall: While this game does lack a lot, it does have some of its own merits, and deserves a play through. It was on my favorites list years ago, but that was before I even started playing Ps2 games, so that was a few years back. Still, it does deserve some respect. The levels had score, life limit without continue, and the levels were timed. Too many games these days do not have any of these features at all, so this game does have something on the modern games of today's world
