Sparkster (Sega Genesis) Review. The Rocket Knight strikes back!
Who hasn't heard about Konami? One of the most famous Video Game companies... Back in the day, This company used to give us hours of fun with their games for the NES, SNES, Game Boy and Sega Genesis... One of his most famous games (for those who still remember the 16-bits era) is Rocket Knight Adventures... The game was notorious because of the world in which the same take place: A combination between the Medieval era and the Future... (That, and because all the action and epicness present on it). As every succeful game. It had his sequel. However, many didn't liked the big image change that it had, But, It was a bad game? Well... Let's see.
Story: After the big war occurred in the 1st. Game, Everything seemed to be peaceful... The Kingdom of Zephyrus started the re-construction of his devastated kingdom... By those days, Princess Cherry, the cousin of the Princess Sherry, was visiting the place... However, The Evil Gedol Empire, invades the Kingdom taking advantage of the lack of defenses. That's not the worse part. Axle-Gear (Who used to be one of the most respectable knights of the Kingdom) kidnaps Princess Cherry... And the only one who can save her and stop the evil Gedol empire is Sparkster... Here's where the game starts.
Okay, The plot is one of the things in where the game fails... It's exactly the same than the previous game! (Well, Just the concept) Rescue princess and save Kingdom. It could have been better. (5/10)
Graphics: Here's where we see the big difference with the previous game: Graphics are less detailed than in the 1st. Part, also, they are more smaller. However, They still are somewhat good... They give a new look to the game, also. (8/10)
Sound: Not bad... Is really good. FX are very arucate (The sword slashing, things exploding, etc.) goes really well... Music is awesome, It's not at the same level of the 1st. Game music. But, it's still good and catchy. (8/10)
Addictiveness: Well, Like the previous part... The game is still kinda addictive. The amount of action and the originality of the same are who helps here. Why that makes the game addictive? I don't know. But it's addictive anyways. Once you start playing it, You'll play it until you finish the game. (7/10)
Depth: The game plays a bit different of his prequel: Instead of loading the rocket by pressing a button, It charges itself... Also, there are diamonds floating in all the stage. When getting 10 of these (Or getting a Red diamond) you will get a random item that will help (Or damage) you. The flying sections are gone. Instead, We can control a giant robot at one of the stages of the game. There are many things that makes this game pretty entertaining. But, You must discover them by yourself. (7/10)
Difficulty: A thing that didn't changed in this sequel, is the difficulty: Hard. Many enemies are very intelligent, and they have many faster and powerful attacks. Every boss need a different strategy to beat him. Also, All the stages have traps that can put you in problems. So, as you see. The game itself is a big challenge. (8/10)
Final Rating: 8
Many people were really disappointed of this game, just because they were excepting something similar to the 1st. Part... It's a really good game, doesn't matter what they think. Don't pay attention to them... Just give it a chance, and you will see how fun can be.
