Pokemon Toxic Purple - Is it good? GamingMonkey
Here I am reviewing a pokemon game. A game where you are part of team rocket!Let's see if it is worth it or just plain rubbish?Graphics 7 : I have rated the graphics seven because they are simply the same as Fire Red.The games male sprite is slightly unattractive but who wants to look like a normal team rocket grunt? The girl's sprite is pretty simple. I like it how he has put on the uniform on the protagonists.
Your rival (Which you don't fight yet since it is a beta) has a slightly unattractive sprite as well. But he is not the one you are being. So I would rather worry about my sprite.
Sound 8 : I have rated the sound eight because it is the same as pokemon fire reds game.
That is what I like, the Lavender Town theme has been kept and the team rocket base has the same slightly creepy theme.
Not that much I can say about themes.
Since it is a short game.
Addictiveness 7 : I am sure the game would have been more addictive if it was complete.
You would start your objective as a team rocket grunt and rush to do the command.
It makes you want to see what happens next. Like when you go to lavender town(Not mentioning anything that happens).
But you would stop playing if you were fighting those trainers on the road.
They kind of can destroy your pokemon team.
Story 8 : Wow, I have to say that this the only pokemon game that has a different plot.
It is awesome that you aren't doing the gym challenge and instead doing evil deeds for team rocket.
It isn't "stop the evil team and become champion." It is when you have to complete your objective.
It is when the gyms are optional just to prove you are stronger than them. I am not telling what happens though.
All is that you have to have a rattata like the rest of the team.
Depth 6 : I had to give the depth a six. Why?
Because it is incomplete and you can't do much but do the one objective you get.
You can hardly find any non ghost type pokemon to catch.
Which is irritating because you start with a normal type.
If this game is complete, I bet you could do so much.
It looks like it has more to offer.
Difficulty 8 : This game is very hard, because when you are walking to lavender town, you face muk that are under levelled.
Their poison can simply defeat your starter.
So you need some good training before doing your mission.
It is up to you if you want to over-level pokemon (Which is hard)
Overall : 8/10
This has so much to offer if it was completed.
This is my opinion, so feel free to dislike it.

Pokemon Toxic purple beta review rka0917
I actually liked this game! It´s the first time i´ve seen well...plot in a Pokémon game!
You have to remember the fact that this is a beta! It´s not the finished version, so of course there´s not gonna be much gameplay!
The story is that you are a kid who is becoming a rocket grunt because...that´s why! They rob a kid and steals his pokemon and then get random assignment from your boss. Nothing much, but is way better than "get all badges, beat the elite four" plot we have been getting for EVERY official Pokémon game(not counting the spinoffs). Besides, haven´t you always wanted to be a rocket!
I actually found this game hard and i lost battles! I couldn´t belive it! That´s because there´s no way to level grind in the begining and the trainers are better than you in the start and you can´t go into marts since they refuse to sell you stuff. I love the fact that i will lose battles because the official game can be really easy!
They even found a way to get rid of HM´s by leting items replace the attacks! No HM slaves! Do i really need to say anything more!?
Vizzed needs...no, must release the full game(if it´s done) on this site!

Pokémon Toxic Purple AdorableCookie
Yet another Fire Red hack. But unlike the games that simply make the game so easy there is no point in really playing it or offering different catchable Pokémon in the wild, this one takes Pokémon and puts a new spin on it. Here you are actually a member of Team Rocket. The game is very short so I'm going to avoid giving you any spoilers, but the ultimate goal seems to be that as you start the game you're at the bottom, a grunt and then through the course of the game you rise through the ranks.
Graphics; 5 / 10: The Graphics are basically the same thing as Fire Red and nothing really stood out to me. Being a girl I played as the girl character and I found myself liking how she looked, but I disliked the pixel art for my partner character. It wasn't the outlines that were off, but rather the colours. It reminded me slightly of a zombie and coming from me that's not a compliment. But maybe that's me needing to put my glasses on. I'm rating the graphics 5/10 because it's basically copied graphics and the little that is written isn't anything that jumps out at you.
Sound 5 / 10:; My hatred for sound in video games is about as high as my hatred for ... actually, I don't think I hate anything more than the stupid repetitive sound tracks that seem to repeat themselves every 15 seconds. I did play the soundtrack for a few seconds to rate. During one room in the base nothing was playing, but in the main area of the base I heard a soundtrack directly from the main game itself. In Saffron City another track was playing, also copied directly from the main game. So once again I'm rating it 5 / 10 because you really can't give credit for something copied. The soundtrack could have been changed into something more dramatic fitting a "will I get caught" music, but instead it's really repetitive and dull.
Story 7/ 10: As I said before, the story of the game seems to be to allow you to rise through the ranks of Team Rocket by doing missions. There really isn't much else to say here. The trainers you battle are really hard and while I saw some reviews complaining about this, who really wants another "easy" Pokémon hack? The starter you get is Rattata and I happen to love Rattata and Raticate, so I didn't complain. Their Hyper Fang that you get early on is quite the powerful move. In my opinion. But the game does fall into the same pitfall as many promising games. While it has a nice idea, most of the changes I saw were in the script. You get the same TM from the same guy in Saffron City, with the only real difference being in what he says when he gives it to you. You can't walk up to anyone and demand things from them. Neither can you steal a Pokémon in the middle of a trainer battle when the whole point of Team Rocket is to steal Pokémon. This really confuses me. It seems that you can not really steal anything if the plot doesn't call for it. But why not? All you can really do is talk to them and hope that they give things to you. The story also has a flaw in healing. Because you can't buy anything in Marts or use the Pokémon Center, healing is restricted to Fresh Water, Soda, Lemonade (bought at the base) and the Nurse Moe (think I got the name right) that is in the base. I'd love to be able to have to search for well hidden nurses that will heal my Pokémon in Secret. Sadly I didn't discover the lemonades until after my mission. So every time I got a status problem or lost HP I had to run between towns to heal. Something that really killed it. I really hope that the final version will not have me running from across the region simply because one Pokémon is poisoned.
Depth; 9/10: This game is only a beta and so I'm going to treat it as such. I'm not going to scream "oh, It's so short". The game gets a high rating here because while it does have flaws it still offers you a unique take on the Pokémon world. Instead of the classic "collect eight badges and become Champion in nothing but the name itself" you are playing the bad guy. But as I said, this game is flawed. One big plot in the original games was as simply as talking to one person in this version and this is really disappointing.
Difficulty 6/10: Lets be fair here. While the trainers at the start are difficult to beat, the moment you are high enough of a level to beat them the rest that follows really isn't a bit challenge. The mission is similar to the ones in the main game. It has a nice plot behind it, but it's really nothing harder than defeating trainers and then reading the text that follows.
So my overall score will be 5+5+5+7+9+6/6 = 6.2
I really hope this view is all right. This is my first in-depth review so it might not be as grand as many others out there. I tried to avoid spoilers because the game is very short and spoilers would ruin things. I really urge you to give this game a chance if you're looking for something a little different. This game has potential and I'm excited to see where it will be taken in the future.

Pokemon Toxic Purple: Beta or not, there is no hope for this game. Jim Profit
Another great idea, crumbled in my hands by people who don't know what they're doing... It might seem harsh, but it gets old very fast seeing time after time, people who can take the time to hack a game, not notice little things that would make them think "hmmm, that might not be fun. No, in fact... that might get really annoying, really fast, and would make me look like a petty infant for implementing in the first place."
What do I mean? Well, we'll get into that as we move on...
GRAPHICS: 1.
The graphics are a downgrade to pokemon fire red. Which were hardly known for it's wonderful graphics to begin with. The main character is blotchy, and unattractive. And I have to look at that thing the entire time.
SOUND: 2.
The sound is downgraded too. Just because pokemon orchestrated music, doesn't mean you should milk it for the purpose of the creep factor... The lowered Lavender Town tone I can deal with. But your initial Rocket entrance is brutal.
ADDICTIVENESS: 1.
You're not going to want to play this game after five minutes. Watching the excitement fade as you think you're going to live a highly adventurous life as a Team Rocket member... only to have those dreams shattered in an instant. Your pokemon are all weak and pathetic, every other trainer is way stronger then you and has more pokemon at their disposal, you can't just waltz into a pokemon center, and there is no sort of compensation. Clearly the creator did not think this through. If you're going to make a game about being the bad guy... act like it. Don't just have everybody giving you snide comments and proclaiming yourself to be the villain. Have options. Extortion vs theft comes to mind. Though this would require a much more in depth mind that apparently pokemon players just do not possess. The idea that perhaps a trainer would not actually FIGHT, but instead opt to threaten said human into giving up money or loot. Most people don't even pay attention when you're in their house... rummage through their stuff. The fridges could have lemonades and soda pop whilst the book shelves could have TMs or something. I don't know... Get creative!
STORY: 7.
It would be an interesting story if not for all these dead-ends. First town, and I'm trapped with every guard hurring about how he's thirsty. Yet he won't take a bottled water or something to let me pass. I would love to know how to the story plans out. If there are alignment sort of variables that could change the ending. Honor among thieves? Anti-hero? Or a cold hearted, cut-throat villain? What about my rival(s)? I guess will never know. As the developer clearly wanted to "win" like some sort of killer DM. Where a fricking level five koffing has sludge. Wrap your head around that one for a minute... Level five koffing with sludge. Now remember there's no pokemon centers, and you have to be just as careful as ever as every trainer wants a piece of you. (Then again, in another hack a level 8 chikorita was using mega-punch. I wonder if these two kids are related?)
DEPTH: 4.
I wouldn't know. I'm sure there would be lots to do if I could actually do it. What with the all powerful trainers down my throat, it's amazing I know this much about the game. The problem with pokemon is it's intensely level based. Nothing ruins a game faster then having to set aside anxiousness for grinding. I could be doing anything else besides giving myself carpel tunnel syndrome to level up my rattata or whatever. Rather then see that as something to work on... every hack I've played of pokemon either finds a way to make it worse, or just redefine it. But never improves upon it... ever. What is wrong with this fan base?
Team Rocket anything has unlimited potential for depth. Something like the first encounter with the little girl, and you get the choice of stealing her vulpix, oddish, or squirtle. That's something you expect to see more of. Every trainer defeated, you take one of their pokemon and make it your own. Perhaps earning rank and notoriety based on pokemon you're willing to give to the boss as opposed to keeping for yourself. There's no such thing as a pokemon out of region, or story-specific when you're a bandit! (Which btw, also is something none of these hackers can seem to figure out... a game about catching monsters should... you know... actually have you catching monsters. Not seeing the same exact three monsters every square inch, not having to wait till you beat the elite four and then it not matter anyway whether or not you catch them. The only one who even remotely gets this is randomizer program. And that unfortunately, it's not on vizzed. That's a hint to anyone reading this who knows how to upload games to the site... LOL!)
DIFFICULTY: 7.
Despite the long diatribe ahead... this game would not be anymore difficult then your average pokemon game had it not been for the seething flaws in design. There are different sorts of challenges then in normal pokemon if you don't have pokemon centers handy... but with enough potions, replaceable pokemon at full health, and much more steroid use... (lol!) It could make up for it. Which is how I imagine Team Rocket operates. Like a Nuzlocke challenge, where they don't get attached to their pokemon and either throw them out, or exhaust them to the point of death anyway... replacing them on a regular basis. So you don't care if your pokemon needs healing. You're also going to pump them with all sorts of carcinogenic pills and snake oil to keep them in fighting condition.
It probably would not be so insanely difficult if it did not seem by design. I mean seriously... how can you not notice that things are going to be more difficult for the player? And I understood that going in. I understood you were a Rocket member, being evil sucks, and there's a reason Jessie and James get slapped around every episode. But I also know sticking you with a level three rattata when you're supposedly a straight A student at bad guy academy is absurd. I know the joke isn't funny anymore when there is no way to conquer your foes. I can't even just fight one trainer at a time, and crawl back to my base for healing. Because those trainers are just way too strong. Even if I come in there prepared with potions and a plan... there's no bushes to level grind in either. AND THIS IS THE FIRST TOWN!!!
So where's the punch-line? You're a failure, everybody hates you, and nothing's ever going to work? Self insertion much developer?
Some are going to be upset, and frankly... I wish more people had the nerve to give a negative review. Pokemon gets off way too easy. It's so bad, that I refuse to play a game of it outright. For reasons I listed above about not wanting to get stuck with the same couple of monsters when there is almost 800 of them to choose from. I should be able to pick my favorites, I should be able to see something new and refreshing every time... I should at least have the illusion of the A.I. is not picking favorites and giving the enemy three critical hits in a row.
With nowhere to go but up, you would think these hacked games prove to be better. Yet somehow that does not plan out... Thus proving there is a big difference between creating, and engineering. Clearly anyone who can design a game is smart... But that doesn't make them intelligent. That doesn't make them thought provoking, innovative, or interesting.
The best comparison I can make, is that toxic purple is kind of like expecting a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Whether you prefer creamy or crunchy peanut butter, jelly or "jam". You have a basic idea of what to expect, and you think it's going to taste good no matter what, because really... how can you mess up PB&J?
Well, if you put olives instead of jelly, and the peanutbutter is literally crumpled peanuts over slabs of greasy, thick, butter... then yeah. You might have a problem. And that's essentially pokemon purple toxic.
Still not the worst game I've played... I've played some pretty abyssal games. But I would hope that people want their works to be known as something better then "not the worst". And I really don't like just criticizing what people work hard on, but it completely eludes me how you can take so much time out to make this... and simply not think about these details.
The gyms I expected to be "Oh God why" hard. You're not trying to earn badges, you're a Rocket guy... but the enemies you're "supposed" to be fighting aren't any better. You're not given any clues or assistance, and despite supposedly not needing HMs for the game... it's never explained how to use them. Perhaps the game would not seem so God awfully hard if I could just cut some bushes and work out my pokemon's muscles in the local bushes. Though I found no pokemon in the bushes near our base's entrance. Can you even catch pokemon normally in this game? Where would you find accessible pokeballs since marts want nothing to do with you? These are all very good questions, that you are not going to get answered.
I keep trying to remind myself that this was just a beta... But basically if you have to start from scratch, and are already in the process of completing the beta... you may as well throw in the towel. I will say that many people have wanted the Team Rocket idea, and failed to see it through. Just reskinning and some dialogue changes are not going to cut it. You want to "FEEL" like a Team Rocket member. And this game was in fact doing that... but then it just stumbled down flight after flight of stairs.
I think that about covers everything. About the only positive element is navigating is not terribly bad as many hacks out there. This might not be so much his doings... as it was not editing the map itself, thereby it's still relatively easy to move around in. (Unlike say... pokemon 386.)
I'll also give the guy credit for not forcing bad jokes, anime crap, or mary sues where they don't belong. Just my way of showing that I don't hate the creator's guts, just scolding him of his mechanical errors like a stern parent... lol.

Could be better SorrowRain22
Just make a better version because next time I won't be nice I mean I like the idea of being a rocket but at least change the sprite when entering battles. Please try to make it better I would enjoy a newer version of this game hopefully you can make it better. Things just need to be made better and I'm pretty sure people would enjoy this game more if you added a few things in and maybe allow the some of the Gen 3 Pokémon in there and have Team Rocket rival team Aqua and Magma and maybe throw in the Gen 4 teams as more rivals. And There should be an alternate path where you can become a good guy and turn against your old team.
