Pokemon Throwback Review mchl5585
There isn’t a review for this game, Pokemon Throwback so I
thought I would try to write one.
This
is only my second review of a pokemon hack. I absolutely love pokemon games and
am glad the RGR has so many of them to play any ways on with the review.
Graphics: 7
The creator of this hack supposedly changed the character outfits
but I didn’t really notice much of a change for them. They also changed the
text to get rid of the annoying caps which was nice. Not many other changes to
the graphics though but Fire Red’s graphics are already great so there was no
need.
Sound: 8
Fire Red has great music and sounds already so no change
there but the creator added an item to let you change the sounds to the old
8-bit sounds. You can get this right at the start if you pay attention unlike
me who got it at the end but it was a great change. The 8-bit sounds give the
game a nostalgic feel and I love you can change to it easily.
Difficulty: 5
Pokemon games are never hard to me at least and this one is
no different. The only tough part is catching the legendary pokemon as you only
get one masterball. It’s possible to catch them without it but takes a lot of
time and patience and luck most of all.
Story: 5
The story wasn’t changed at all. Your quest is to defeat the
gym leaders so you can face the elite four while catching as many pokemon as
you can. One day there may be more to the story hopefully but not in this hack.
Addictiveness: 8
Pokemon games have always been addicting. This hack is no
different. Trying to catch tough legendaries and rare pokemon is very
addicting. Putting a good team together can be fun but so is going through the
game with one pokemon like I did laughing as my level 80 destroys everything
with ease.
Depth: 9
This game has plenty to do most of which happens after
beating the elite four. There are a lot of areas to explore and secrets to
find. The creator added Gen 2 pokemon and took out Gen 3 and there are plenty
to catch even the 2
nd Gen legendaries.
Not sure if you can complete the pokedex but
there are a lot you can get in this hack. I myself found at least 120 of them
and there was still more I could have gotten.
Overall: 8.5
Pokemon Throwback is a great hack and you should try it.
There is plenty to see and do in this game and it is quite fun. If you liked
Fire Red you will love this hack as well. Being able to catch 2
nd
Gen legendaries is great and you can get all but Celebi. Great sound and
graphics and more to give you hours of enjoyment so why not try it for
yourself?

The game brought some good memories especially when using the GB Player! Every Pokemon available is a great feature! Plus the placement of each one was amazing. It was a lot like, or even exactly like my first experience playing. Overall, the game was fun, but Kanto being my least favorite region it was kind of bland at the same time. The graphics are exactly the same as FR/LG, and will always be my favorite graphic style. I loved the addition of the GB Player, brought back so much nostalgia. And amazing work with it by the way! Amazing sound, almost like the originals! Since I haven't played Kanto for a few years it was obviously super fun getting back into it, couldn't stop playing once i started! The story was ultimately my least favorite of this rom. But even being my least favorite feature, doesn't mean it wasn't good! How much detail this man went into just adding things that weren't originally in the main games must have been tough, but actually making a plot behind getting certain items (Fossils, Pokemon, Passes, Ect.) it simply just amazes me. As i remember this game wasn't the most difficult, but raising the Elite Four 2 levels made a difference. I actually had to go train for a decent amount of time to manage Lorelie. A game like this doesn't come around too often, but its games like these that make it worth it.
