Best battletoads game 2k14   KelloggsFrosties
Allow me to apologize in advance for any harm caused by this highly unprofessional and questionable review
Gosh this game makes my nipples rock hard
Released in 1994, Battletoads the arcade game (not to be confused with Battletoads and Battletoads) combines excellent presentation with satisfying if somewhat repetitive gameplay.
I'm gonna go ahead and divide every rated thingy like another one of those boring people because I lack the writing skill to write a coherent review :
Graphics - (9/10)
This game features excellent sprite work and nicely detailed backgrounds with a violent art style and toilet humor which is something everybody finds entertaining.
Sound - (7/10)
Catchy but somewhat forgettable music, alongside less than impressive sound effects and less than stellar voice acting.
Addictiveness - (6/10)
This game is fun enough to warrant a second playthrough, however there are only 2 levels that aren't straight up beat-em-up levels which is another one of those chasm levels a la level 2 of the NES Battletoads, and an on-rails space shooter level. Neither are particularly fun, and the beat-em-up gameplay eventually loses it's novelty.
Difficulty (8/10)
You will repeatedly get your ass handed to you while playing this game, as it's difficulty is intense. The only thing that makes this game even beatable here is the unlimited credits courtesy of MAME. With merciless enemies and stage hazards, this game is nothing short of hard, yet still not as hard as the original or Battlemaniacs
During stages, you can play as any Battletoad you want as this is one of the 2 games in the series where all 3 Toads are actually playable and they all play differently but everybody knows that Zitz is the best one and everyone should play as him forever.
One aspect of this game I haven't touched upon yet; the gore. Various combos done by the toads result in like 8 milliliters of blood to spill out every so often so clearly this game deserves to be rated M for mature
I'm actually really awful at portraying my love for a videogame, I just realised. Play this game. It's fun. IGN would've given it 12/10 if they were good.

Battletoads   Harley3651
Battletoads is one series that I have fond memories of. Over the years I have played and beaten every version of the games multiple times except for the arcade version.
I had no idea there was even an arcade version of the series until I had gotten my copy of the Rare Replay for my Xbox One and saw it was one of the titles. So imagine my happiness to see the game on this site under the arcade section. I knew I had to play it again for this review. and I am glad I did. it is a fun time.
Battletoads was released to the arcades in 1994. The game was developed by Rare (I miss that company) and published by Electronic Arts (remember when they were good?).
Graphics 9: The game may be 25 years old now but it still looks amazing. The many times I played through the game i never got tired of looking at it. There is virtually no screen tearing at all.
Sound 10: Not only does the game look amazing but it also boasts amazing sound. From the amazing rock music being played throughout the game to the sound effects of the enemies and the attacks. it does not get old to listen to the game as you play.
Addictive 10: The game is extremely fun and addictive to play. prior to my review I ended up playing through the game 3 times once with each toad. I can't recommended this game enough. In fact I'm going to play through the game again after i finish this review.
Story 2: There's not much of a story to the game. You go through 6 different levels till you beat the game and that is it.
Depth 4: There is not a lot of depth to the game. You go through 6 very different levels punching and kicking rodents and mutants till you get to the end of the stage where you fight a boss.
Difficulty 7: Since most people are likely to be playing the game on MAME its kinda hard to judge how difficult the game really is seeing that you just add credits to continue right where you died.
Rating 7: I gave the game a rating of a solid 7. Its good but it does suffer from lack of story and depth. I do still recommended it though as its a great addition to the series.

A great disservice to a classic title   Eirinn
Pimple, Rash, and Zits, oh my! Bad stuff, right? Well that happens to be the names of our three toad-heros in this arcade port of the classic Battle Toads games. Unfortunately, this game is about as much fun as their names imply.
Having recently tried my first Mame rom, and loving it, I decided to check out some more. And what to my eyes appears, but a Mame port of a game series I loved as a young child! Battle Toads, eh? Well if you're a fan of the classic NES and SNES/Genesis Battle Toads games like I was, within ten minutes, you'll find yourself asking the same question I found myself asking: "what on Earth am I playing?". But to be fair, let's consider the time frame that this game was released in. Ah, yes, the early '90s. Fighters were very popular, largely due to the huge success of such titles as Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. Many games were following the pattern of extreme violence and gore set forth by the MK series, as the radical trailblazer in video game violence. Gone were the days of foes simply falling to the ground and hearing "you win". No, stakes were much higher now. Lose a match and watch in horror as your foe mercilessly tears you limb from limb or rips your head off.
So now that we have an idea of what this Arcade port was up against in the dog-eat-dog world of arcade gaming, where it was a desperate race to grab the browsing player's attention before they could pop a quarter into another arcade machine, we can understand, and have a little mercy on it. The problems: in the world of flash that is Arcade gaming, this one tries too hard. The first thing you notice is the profuse and quite unnecessary amounts of blood that assault your eyes. All enemies spew excessive amounts of blood when hit, but some were more notable for it, such as level two's boss, who in the end, loses his head and flops around for a few moments spewing blood everywhere, and you play soccer with his head, kicking it off screen. Another notably bloody foe, the "Eyeball" I believe, sprays what appears to be gallons of blood upon dying.
Excessive gore and blood aside, there is some crude humor slipped in for a cheap laugh at points during battle, which honestly, I probably wouldn't have found quite so bothersome were it not that this game was already on my badside. So it probably isn't fair for me to say too much about that.
But enough rants on that. On to the rating.
Graphics: 9/10
This is one area where this game cannot be accused of lacking. When compared to similar titles of it's time, it can hang with the best. A decent amount of detail in the sprites and backgrounds, and if it had any blocky patches that we so commonly saw in games of it's age, anywhere in the game, I failed to notice them. Nice explosions, enemies flying directly at the screen when booted off, and even a humorous look of fear on our amphibian heroes faces when confronted by stage bosses that are often larger than life. Clean crisp graphics are this games strong point. If only the gameplay could match up to them.
Sound: 3/10
Awful.
I could leave it at that, and it would be sufficient to describe what sounds will meet your ears when you pop in that virtual coin, but I've always believed that to be fair, one should always be able to explain and give good reason to back up any comment, especially a critical one. So let's hear it: The music was far from appealing, and let's not get started on the voices. The actual thought that came to my mind was "It sounds like the sound recordings were run through a garbage disposal". Basically it sounds faded and like a dragging cassette tape. I actually began to dread picking up a weapon, as I knew it would mean hearing a terrible voice over. I'm not exaggerating.
Story: 3/10
I'm being generous here. There really is almost no storyline. Pretty much a message from each levels boss, and an ending sequence that managed to get a chuckle out of this otherwise disappointed gamer. Still, most "beat 'em up" games of it's time really didn't have much of a story. There were bad guys, they wanted to beat you up, and you wanted to beat them up. Simple enough.
Depth: 1/10
For the reasons previously listed in the story rating. Also for the fact that there is only one way to play: go beat the baddies up with your hands, feet, and whatever items you may find lying nearby.
Addictiveness: 1/10
I was glad when it finally ended. Sheer persistence is all that kept me through it the first time, and I can't imagine ever wanting to play it again.
Difficulty: 7/10
It's hard to rate most Mame games on difficulty, as you can keep adding credits as long as you want to, so there is no real loss when you have to continue. Still I spent well over twenty credits to beat this game. Difficult enough, but not a ten by any means.
Overall: 3.4/10
Sadly, I feel this is accurate at best, generous at worst. And were it not for graphics, this game would have no strong suit. One thing I will state in it's favor, is that the Carnage count at the end of each level puts a nice twist on multiplayer co-op play, as it makes for a nice co-op/competitive blend. Basically you and your teammates would see who could kill the most enemies. Still, that could only go so far in making up for the rest of the experience.
To wrap it up, unless you're just looking for good graphics displays, or a virtual blood bath, then this game doesn't hold too much for you. And after finishing it, you will be grateful for the "sell for Viz" option. Still, you'd do better grabbing classic battle toads, or another beat 'em up, instead of this one.

Super Battletoads!-The Final Battletoads Game!   Ultrajeff
Welcome to my world! I'm Ultrajeff, and this is my review for Super Battletoads A.K.A. Battletoads(Arcade). In this game, you play as the meanest, greenest, trail-blazing turbo-tilted toads the universe has ever seen! They are of course Rash, Zitz, and Pimple.
Game-play: Up to three players can join in on the brutality, as the turbulent toads mash through six levels. You can move in eight directions, and are given two action buttons (Attacking and Jumping). Rash is the shade-wearing "toadally" radical green toad. He has the fastest running speed, and his attacks consist of axes, boots, maces, and claws. Zits is the bluish-green slimy scientist toad. He's a mix between Rash's speed and Pimple's Power, and his repertoire includes drills, cleats, saw blades, and bulldozers. Last but not least, there is Pimple, the big bad brother of all toads! He is both the strongest and slowest toad, and his masonry favors helmets, hammers, anvils, and bullhorns. The three can run, jump, fight, and do all sorts of things!
Story:The plot is similar to the previous games, mostly consisting of the Toads' never ending fights with the Dark Queen and her cronies The Summary: She's returned and sent her minions to actively combat you. You have to battle them all, as well as their numerous minions.
Graphics:The game is well-animated, with several animations depicting blood, humor, fear, anger, overconfidence and more . The characters run and fight smoothly, as well as the numerous enemies.
Comparison: This game is much easier then its warty predecessors. It lacks many of the frantic platforming and racing stages, though this game is not without severe challenge.   It offers some variety in comparison to its numerous coin-catching rivals, as not all stages consist of beating every enemy mercilessly. Overall, its more accessible to the average gamer.
Level Design: The levels mostly consist of beating all the baddies, but like the NES original, has quite a few variations, such as shooting and flying levels. There are also weapons, and you are scored based on how many enemies you have slaughtered. However, the game is very difficult, as enemies could bum-rush you and obstacles can flatten your chances of victory. (I'd strongly recommend a second player and tons of credits). Levels switch between straightforward beating action and being novelty themed (Using jet packs to descend a tunnel, using guns in a shooter-like chaotic level).
Music & Sound: The game's music is absolutely delightful. It can be inspiring, intense, frantic and awesome. It features music from David Wise, Rare's original and most prominent composer, and he doesn't disappoint. It's definitely worth listening to more than once. In
the end, Super Battletoads is a bucket full of fun! Give it a go!

There is however one thing I don't like. There is blood. In my opinion, Battletoads should not have blood! :(
