Scribblenauts Unlimited Featured Review

Scribblenauts Unlimited Review by: Uzar - 8.8/10

Unlimited Scribblenauting
I really like the Scribblenauts series. So naturally I was excited that it was coming to WiiU. For those reading this thinking "What the heck is a Scribblenauts?" It's a game about a kid named Maxwell. Maxwell has a magic notebook that makes anything he writes come into existence! (This is E10+ rated so obviously there ARE limits) You can add adjectives to your word to make thousands of combinations of things. Maxwell is on a quest for Starites. Little star thingies that he gets from helping people. Now that we've been over the basics of the series; let's get on with the review shall we?

OVERALL: 8.8

This game is pretty innovative. It's the first one on a home console. So it's graphics have been VERY polished. The newest feature of this game is the Object Editor. Allowing you to tweak any object (Change it's A.I, completely reprogram it, etc.) and save your custom creations. This game is played pretty much the same as it always was on the DS. But you use the game pad for this one. I still turn this game on and mess around with anything and everything. :D

GRAPHICS: 7

As I said before, this game's graphics have improved greatly between Super Scribblenauts, and this game. It's taken on a very new style. But it comes at a 7 when compared to most good WiiU games.

  SOUND: 10

This game has a great soundtrack. Each level has a catchy, unique song to them. I still hum some of the themes.

STORY: 4

Scribblenauts isn't really known for having a storyline. But this game is basically an origin story to the series. The story goes: Two explorers traveled the world finding artifacts. Eventually they got married and had 43 kids. They all got a magical present. The two youngest are Maxwell, and Lilly. Maxwell got his magic notebook, and Lilly got a globe that could take you anywhere by touching the spot you want to go. One day Maxwell and Lilly came across a homeless guy who begged them for food. Maxwell gave him a rotten apple. The hobo was actually a wizard in disguise. He was mad at them so he cursed Lilly so she slowly turns to stone. He tells Maxwell the only way to save her is by gathering enough Starites, which he can earn by doing good deeds. Then you start the game.

DEPTH: 9

This game has a bunch of levels. Everything you do in them stays that way until you do something about it. Like making a zombie apocalypse in the city and leaving it, then coming back later will result in you walking into a still zombie infested city. There are multiple ways to solve each puzzle, which is pretty cool. This game is FULL of easter eggs too. Like sometimes making an Assassin will produce a look alike certain White Hooded Italian, Orly Yarly and Nowai make owls, Making Loituma Girl makes a girl spinning a leak, making a Black Knight makes the Monty Python character, and TONS more! More of it's depth comes from the previously mentioned adjectives, object editor, and music.

DIFFICULTY: 5

I made this an even 5 because the only limits to what you can do is the limits of your imagination and creativity.

This game is a steady 8.8 out of 10. If you have a WiiU, 3ds, or even a Steam Account. I HIGHLY recommend this game. You won't regret it. Even if you don't feel like playing the main storyline you can mess around and battle NPC's, or make weapons, cars, or whatever you want!

Thanks for reading this! (This is my very first review so I apologize if it's bad.)
