Awesome   cplegogame25
Story:
The story is about some wizard guy that mixes two potions wrong and everything goes haywire, the wizard turns into stone, the crystals keeping the kingdom colorful are gone and one of his magical gloves turn evil named Cross-Stitch, and you are the nice glove named Glover.
- - -
Gameplay:
The gameplay is a platformer, you can control Glover with or without his ball, controlling Glover by himself is fine, you can double jump, ground pound, and use a cartwheel, the weird thing is the cartwheel is not in the PS1 version which i own. Controlling Glover with the ball is a bit annoying sometimes, escpically when he slides around everywhere, you can dribble the ball but it's delayed a bit, you can throw the ball which throws it up high but not reach, you can slap it with gets a better reach but no height. You can transform your ball to, one is a Bowling ball which is use to break glass or walls, it can sink in water but you can't dribble it, even though in the PS1 version you can... i don't get it. You can also turn it into a marble, it moves faster than the bowling ball, you can dribble it and it can sink, it's also used to put on magnets to activate switches. You can also turn it into one of the cyrstals, you can use it to collecting these ticket things along the ground for double points, but if you dribble or throw the cyrstal it will break and you lose a life. Speaking of those tickets you can find collectables around the worlds. One of the items are tickets, there's usually 80 in each world, collect 80 to get an extra life. There are also extra lives everywhere since the platforming is hard to do, well with the ball, the ball is annoying to get across platforms because the ball might bounce around everywhere so you want to be careful. Also the camera sucks, well in the PS1 version at least, the camera can get stuck on some areas and it's annoying to turn it around fully, escpically in the haunted house stages where there are walls everywhere. There are 6 worlds in the game, the boring ones being Atlantis and Pirates, there just water stages. The most annoying one is the Cavman stage, the first stage is snowy and there is a slope in the middle of the stage where snowballs roll down and if you get stuck in it you will fly back or get send all the way back to the bottom. And theres also lava in the stage which kills you and your ball instantly. My favorite level though is the space level which is the last level, i liked it because it was the easyiest and there was no gravity so i can jump super high. The bosses in this game are easy or hard, easier ones being a clown or the harder ones being the frankstein monster, god i hate that boss, no matter what version it's in it's so annoying, you have to push platforms down with your ground pound but also avoiding attacks and protecting you ball. There are also some powerups in the game to, one makes Glover super big, strong, and fast. One where he's a helicopter but freakin hard to control, and sticky shoes which makes him walk on ceilings. There are other ones but there not super good.
- - -
Graphics:
The graphics look great, even though Glover doesn't look like a glove because he only have 4 fingers. The stages look nice and fit everything well, except the draw distance is not that good, but it's not a problem like 98% of the time.
- - -
Sound/Music:
The music in this game is great, nothing sounds to annoying or to loud, everything is nice and calm. The sound effects are find to consisting of cartoon sound effects, but Glover sounds weird when he does his first jump, he sounds like he's in pain or something when he jumps.
- - -
Final Verdict:
Glover is a good game with great graphics, great music, good controls, and ok story. The downsides were the ball was annoying to control sometimes and the camera didn't help to much.

Glover: Under-Rated Gem or Just Another Dud?   Opti101
Well let me tell you. I have played some really weird games in my time. But this is one of the down-right strangest. I mean where do I even start? Walking gloves, Magic balls, Walking sharks, Fish Towers, Balloon elephants and Did I mention you play as a walking glove!? Oh boy. I am of course talking about Glover. Now as some of you mean know a game can leave you with a sour feeling if you come into it with your expectations too high and just wind up being disappointed, how ever games can become better if you keep your expectations low. So when I came into this game I had my expectations rather low because I had not heard a lot of amazing things about this game. So what did I think of it? Well as I played it I found it to be a very engaging and enjoyable puzzle/plat-former. Now enough babbling, Lets get into the review!
GRAPHICS
I did not really find anything special here. The graphics were really blurry and the in-game enemies looked just plain odd. The environments while colorful and bright were not really good looking. If you were too judge the game simply by looking at it you would probably assume its garbage. Probably why it didn't get a lot of love back in the day.
SOUND
When the topic of sound comes into the game it begins to shine a little brighter. The music is very peaceful and sometimes has a funky fell to it. The sound effects (While quite muffled.) are nice. They add too the whole cartoony feel of the game. The sound is decent but
un-comparable too other games from around the same time.
ADDICTIVENESS
This was truly surprising. The game is very difficult too put down. The puzzle solving is satisfying and the platforming is enjoyable. With such a simple goal of getting a ball to the exit by involving it in puzzle solving. It is very addictive and fun. And it even has some replay-ability if you care enough to get all of the collectables.
STORY
Well, Its definitely unique. But I am not sure I would call it "Great" or even "Good". The story is about a wizard who was concocting a potion or something for a reason that is not given. And it explodes (Again for a reason that is not given.) launching the wizard back as his gloves fly off his hand and he falls through the floor. One of the gloves fly out the windows and another one lands in the potion or whatever. ANOTHER explosion occurs as the glove that fell into the potion comes out as "Cross-Stitch". The force of said explosion knocks 6 crystals off the tower. Glover, (The one that flew out the window) Uses his magic too turn the crystals into balls. It is now up to Glover to get the crystals before Cross-Stitch does so Glover can use their power too revive the wizard. Its not a fantastic story. But it kind of works. I guess.
DEPTH
There is not a lot of depth to this game. It is pretty small and there is not much to do other then collect things, kill enemies and beat the levels.
DIFFICULTY
The game truly shines here. The difficulty is perfectly balanced. It is truly difficult to figure out how to proceed. Overall its fantastic here.
CONCLUSION
I had a lot of fun with this game. I can see why it didn't sell a lot but I can't say it deserved it. In fact.. Y'know what? I am Opti, And I believe that Glover is better than Super Mario 64. YUP. YOU HEARD IT. I SAID IT. Anyway. I hope you enjoyed this review and remember its only my opinion. If you don't like this game than SO BE IT! Until next review, See ya!

Glover Review   M4g1cW4rr10r
Now,
I've played some pretty wacked-out games before, but none come in comparison to this underrated gem known as Glover. And when I say underrated, I mean REALLY underrated. This game got little to no popularity. Unlike many gems, this game never got a sequel. Originally, there was going to be a direct sequel, but it was entirely scrapped in 2000. But, if you're fortunate to pass this game up, I'll give you the idea of the game. Something interesting to note before we start is that reviews give the N64 version of Glover a much better rating than the PlayStation version. This game also had a Windows port shortly before the N64 release.
Gameplay:
At the start of the game, you're given a cutscene about a wizard who, I guess, lives in a tower in an abandoned amusement park, with themed worlds. (I don't think its really an amusement park, but that's just my guess.) Experimenting with a batch of bad potions, the wizard falls to his death, nope, scratch that, turns into stone. It wouldn't be a Nintendo game if it showed actual death. One of his magic hand/gloves fly out of the tower into the overworld, while the other hand flies into the vat in the wizard's cauldron, turning him into...Cross-Stitch! Then you start the game. Until you get at least a few balls back, You'll hear Cross Stitch's evil laugh each time you go into the overworld, which is pretty creepy. Underneath the tower is where you take the balls to, and where you must free the wizard from his stone prison. Glover can perform a variety of 'magic tricks' on foot and when you have a ball in your hand. Glover can also can change the ball into 4 types of balls, all with their own abilities. There's the normal bouncy ball, a bowling ball, that can shatter weak walls or knock down enemies or obstacles, but it isn't a very good bouncer. You can change it into a crystal ball that doubles your point multiplier, but watch out. If this thing is handled with brutal force the ball will shatter, causing you to lose a life. And you have a magnetic marble, which can be used for some puzzles.
This game mixes platforming and physics the likes of which one would never think to see. You have to bounce the ball, you have to keep your eye on the ball, you have to BE the ball. Everytime you brings one of the balls from a world back after completing it, you take it to the tower to open the next world. Though this is done in the manner of Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo Kazooie, each world only consists of 3 levels, a boss, and a bonus level if you got all the Garibs (Cards with stars on them) in the world's normal levels. The game's enemies
aren't really much of a threat as they just wander around and play with your ball. Killing enemies can be done by ground pounding them, or flicking your ball at them. Now, since you need to keep the ball safe, similar to the eggs you must find then hatch at the start of a new world in Billy Hatcher, one may question why not go through the level on foot and kill everything then come back for the ball? Well, you can’t. You need to keep the ball as you have certain times where you need the ball to get you to higher elevation and such. Though this game’s levels are cool, I didn't really know what to think of the bosses. Most of them can merely be killed by just hitting them with your ball flick, while some were really annoying. Either way, this game is good, but why did it get such little attention? Well, I guess people didn’t really know what to think from the cover. I mean, Glover is pretty strange compared to an Italian plumber that stomps on enemies and eats flowers to shoot fire. Although to be fair, this game was released around the time that Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time was about to be released, so people had gathered their crowd waiting for that, and paid Glover no mind.
Graphics: 8
The graphics aren't bad, but Glover looks kind of funny. He only has four fingers, but then why does Mickey have four fingers and always wear gloves?
Sound: 9
This game has some okay soundtracks, but I honestly didn't remember most of them.
Addictiveness: 6
Unfortunately once you've completely beaten the game, there's no real redeeming value in playing it again. This is one of those games, a game that you play one time around, and never come back to.
Story: 8
As I've mentioned, the wizard falls to his doom, while the hands fly out. The explosion from Cross Stitch's creation causes the spires to break. Glover quickly reacts and turns them into bouncy balls as they bounce into each world. The plot of this game was very original, and it had a very original character. But I do have a few questions: Why exactly do these balls need to be used to keep order in the world? Was it not there when they were built? You're provided no real backstory other than this cutscene.
Depth: 6
Although you can change your ball's form and ability, nothing really had much of a level of depth. Given, there is stuff to collect and bonus levels.
Difficulty: 6
This game isn't very difficult, but it is challenging sometimes, having you think about how you must proceed. The game's controls can be a bit hard to control at start, but once you figure it out, you'll have a more stable grip on the game.
OVERALL: 8.4
In case you're wondering what made the Playstation one get such bad revisions, you'll just have to find out yourself, as I won't spoil your surprise. I know this game didn't get much popularity for people to want a sequel, but I wonder what caused them to scrap Glover 2 in the first place. Oh well, until next time, I leave you with this review.
Do YOU want me to review a certain game?
PM me for suggestions!

Glover: What went wrong?   Lagslayer
Ah, Glover. I remember being really excited about getting this game. It looked like another great platformer for the N64. And I gotta say, all the pieces are there, but for some reason, it just didn't click with me.
The visuals are great. Environments are varied. Bright colors abound. There's plenty of artistic detail. That being said, there tended to be more open space compared to, say, Super Mario 64. Perhaps this had to do with the controls and movement physics. Speaking of which...
The controls are interesting, and I really love the concept. I like how the glove and the ball are separate entities. I like how the ball could be manipulated. I like how each of the ball's forms had different properties, and that the game took advantage of this. However, controls could be tricky and finicky. It's not always easy to make the game recognize certain commands, because they share the same buttons as other commands. Things like momentum and bouncing could easily become a tedious chore to manage instead of a fun challenge to overcome.
Music and SFX were good, but not particularly memorable.
The story is a pretty basic excuse plot. It's not really a factor.
The game is difficult, but this stems mostly from the previously mentioned movement and physics quirks. The environments themselves aren't usually too bad, but half the time you are fighting the ball instead of using it. And that was a big turn-off.
I can't see myself ever seriously getting into the game. In the end, I think it was just ahead of it's time. The game was ambitious, and deserves an "A" for effort, but it's like the hardware couldn't handle what they wanted to do with the ball. If this had come out during the next console generation, the smoother controls would have likely made this work better.

On the first level, it is in fact glitched, but just press F2, and save it, then restart the game, if that doesn`t work, restart your computer. It should fix it. It is, in fact, slow at times, but that comes and goes. Also, to start the game, press space.
