Any updates on this situation? I've been able to find some NES games that work, but most of them still don't.

Spot Goes To Hollywood was almost ported to the SNES and 32x, but neither of the ports were ever finished. There are three or four prototypes across the two ports, I believe, and it would be nice to have them playable in the RGR since all of the known prototypes have been dumped online. I believe some or all of them can be found at Hidden Palace, but I'm not sure.

Davideo7 : Alright, that's good. I'm just glad to know that a fix is in the pipeline, there are plenty of games for other systems that I can play in the meantime. Like Sonic 3D Blast: Director's Cut for example.

Is post bumping allowed on these forums? In any case, no one has been able to help me in the Discord server, and my DMs have been fruitless, so I'm really hoping that something gets done with this forum post, as I'm otherwise completely out of ideas.

Any time I try to load an NES game in the EmulatorJS emulator through the RGR, it just shows a grey screen. It's always the same shade of grey, and any shaders I apply work as expected, but the game never starts. Do I just need to wait until the emulator is updated, or is it a problem that the Vizzed team can fix? Please note that I can't install the RGR plugin, even though I've heard it's the best emulator, because I'm running ChromeOS.

This game is just plain fun. Instead of doing my usual shtick of talking about the graphics, then the sound, then the presentation, I'm just going to list all of the reasons why this game is great, because I really like this game.

1. Simple, Easy Gameplay

The gameplay is refreshingly simple. You can play as either Wile E. Coyote or the Roadrunner, and even though each character runs through the same levels, the layouts are different for each of them to accommodate the different playstyles. You'll be doing exactly what you'd expect; as Wile E. Coyote, your goal is to catch the Roadrunner. As the Roadrunner, you avoid Wile E. Coyote. However, these are only your secondary goals, because the main thing you're working towards is getting to the end of each level. The time limits are really, really strict, but if you catch the Roadrunner or pummel Wile E. Coyote, you'll be rewarded with extra time. The platforming is just plain fun. Running and jumping feels snappy, fast, and oh so satisfying, and even though the powerups change how you move, the controls stay simple and intuitive no matter what.

2. Looks, Sounds, And Feels Just Like A Cartoon

Well, maybe not exactly like a cartoon. This is the Sega Genesis after all. But it comes pretty darn close. The character animations are fluid, expressive, and can even be pretty funny sometimes. Almost everything that you can interact with, even the walls and ceilings that make up the levels, trigger some sort of cartoony, well-drawn animation. Plus, each character gets a different ending, and they're both awesome! The approach to sound design is surprising at first; levels don't have music, but when you walk, move, or interact with the environment, short stings and tunes play, and the end result is that it sounds just like a Looney Tunes cartoon.

3. Multiple Gameplay Styles And Good AI

Playing the game as each character is almost (but not quite) like playing an entirely different game. I don't want to spoil too much, but they somehow managed to create two gameplay styles that use the same basic skills, but have to be mastered individually, and are both equally fun.

The AI that controls whichever player you aren't currently playing as is just perfect. You'll be lured away from the main path by the elusive Roadrunner, and encouraged to speed up by Wile E. Coyote. They both emphasise the aspects of gameplay that differentiate the player characters, and add a lot of depth and thought to the game.

The Negative Aspects

Ending on a low note, (because why not?) let's talk about some of the negatives. This shouldn't take too long, because there really aren't that many.

Firstly, it is a little too easy to get hurt. Sometimes, even running into a wall or jumping into a ceiling too fast can cause you to lose a tiny bit of health. This isn't too big of an issue because it fits with the strong slapstick themeing of the game, and heath pickups are plentiful enough.

Some of the levels can be a bit large and mazelike, but if you just keep going to the right, you'll find the exit eventually. Even if you run out of time, you respawn at the beginning of the current section of the level, so your progress never really comes to a halt.

And finally, the game is just way, way too short! It took me less than an hour to complete the game with both characters! I suppose that it's better to leave a player wanting more than to leave them wanting less, but yikes, imagine getting this (and maybe only this) for Christmas one year only to realise that you can see all there is to see in a single afternoon. It's also pretty easy, although that's not to say that you won't die a lot; moreso, checkpoints are generous and extra lives are plentiful.

Conclusion

Just play this game. Play it now. You won't regret it, because this game rules.

Sonic 3D Blast: Director's Cut is a version of the game with better controls and general gameplay improvements, made by the original game's director.

EX Palen : I DM'd EX Palen about this, on the advice of the Vizzed Discord server, but he hasn't responded, so I'm hoping that making a thread instead will help.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nBeppQgFGw
This video has more information about it, as well as a link to the code for the patch. Here's hoping it's made available to play on the site soon.

This one is just plain bad. There, that should save you some time. It's not a fun game and there's really no reason to play it. Want to know why? Well, let's start with...

The Graphics

Wait, no, this is the good part. Uh... well, look, I'll get to why it's bad later. For now, let's look on the bright side; the graphics and animations are pretty darn good. They've got complex shading, and look like they use more colours than should be possible on a Super Nintendo. Most of the animations are pretty smooth, although they get pretty stingy for a lot of the enemies, with some only having two frames of animation. Chester Cheetah himself doesn't have a whole lot of personality, but it's not for lack of trying; his animations are smooth and communicate his actions well. The main issues are, again, the stingy enemy animations, and the fact that some of said enemies look almost like they use a different artstyle to Chester himself. However, the consistent colouring and shading adds enough consistency to the few designs that would otherwise look out of place, so again, this one isn't really an issue.

The Music And Sound

Strangely, this one is a step down from the previous game, Too Cool To Fool. The music in Wild Wild Quest sounds more like actual music and less like deranged psychosis, but as a result it sounds a lot less unique. The range of quality is also a lot broader than Too Cool To Fool. "Omahog" and "Numb" are absolute jams, but then you have tracks like "Quakers-Field" and "Lostin", which just go on and on and on and on, aimlessly whittling away at your sanity whilst going nowhere and saying nothing. Still, the good tracks outweigh the bad ones, and although I wouldn't say that the game is worth playing for the soundtrack, I would say that you should check it out from the safety of a dedicated music player. Perhaps the one on this very site, which seems to be one of the only places on the internet where you can listen to them.

The sound design is nothing to write home about. It gets the job done. Perfectly serviceable, but a bit generic.

The Presentation

I don't like to judge a game on its story, unless it's something like an RPG or one of those Telltale games. With that being said, the story in this game is absolute crap.

The opening text crawl is about a minute and a half long, yet the plot that it establishes can be summed up in three sentences: "Chester Cheetah's map to Hip City was stolen by Mean Eugene. Get the map pieces back so you can get to Hip City. If you collect all ten pieces you can see the good ending." It's written as if the writers threw darts at a list of 80s slang, and then wrote the world's s***tiest poem with them, because half the time it doesn't even rhyme, even though it's clearly attempting to. The HUD isn't terrible, but it's still pretty bad. At least it doesn't get in the way of the gameplay. But, speaking of...

The "Gameplay"

Is anybody surprised that the gameplay is bad? I doubt many people were expecting greatness from a Chester Cheetah game, but if you were, you'll be sorely disappointed. I mean, if you were expecting something good here, you're probably the kind of person who gets disappointed a lot, so maybe you're used to it by now.

Like Too Cool To Fool, the bare-bones moving, jumping, and running don't feel terrible at first. However, the game's downfall is quite different from its predecessor. For one, the game is slow. Like, really slow. Even the dash is about three quarters as fast as the walking speed should be, although at least it's not at breakneck speed this time, so... I guess that's a plus. Alongside the speed, the first thing that you'll notice when playing is how darn big everything is. While it does allow for more detailed sprites, the fact that Chester alone takes up half the friggin' screen means that the game has to be slow, or else you'd be running into enemies constantly, without any warning that they were coming.

The level design is dull. Just really boring. The levels are either too long, or... well, I can't even say "too short", because none of them left me wanting more. Let's just say that they're all mind-numbingly boring, and most of them are too long.

The main issue with this game, though, is the difficulty. I could deal with the clunky movement physics, unresponsive controls, and bizarre enemy behaviours if I was actually able to finish a single goshdarn stage. You die in one hit, although if you can find a bag of Cheetos, you gain an additional hit point, and lose the bag instead of a life the next time something hits you. The only issue is... well, there's way more than one issue, actually. Like I said, this game is bad. Firstly, there's almost always only one bag of Cheetos per level, and it's usually quite far into said level, so you've got to go most of the game tiptoeing forwards so that you don't hit anything. Secondly, enemies respawn if their spawn point ever goes offscreen. Thirdly, the animation that plays when you get hit while you have the Cheetos is about five seconds too long, and freezes you in place. And finally, each level has its own boss, which is pretty nice, but they're either ridiculously easy or designed-by-a-mental-patient impossible. Plus, basically all of them require you to die at least a few times before you know their attack patterns and when the hell you can actually hit them.

Conclusion
This game sucks. Don't play this game. It's that simple.

Cool Spot for Sega Genesis. It's got a few flaws but it's a solid mascot-platformer featuring a totally radical protagonist. Even though it's got some slow, mazelike, and/or leap-of-faith-heavy levels, they're always followed up by a straightforward and easy one, and there are only two or three bad apples among about seven other great levels. I played it for the first time recently and had a blast.

I'm very particular when it comes to mobile games, and I don't like to put them down until I've 100%ed them (which gets pretty annoying when I find a game that locks characters or skills behind real-world money, since I've vowed to never spend a cent on a mobile game). With that in mind, I can wholeheartedly recommend Smashy Road: Wanted 2. It's got addictive car-chase gameplay and is actually possible to 100% complete without spending a dime or watching a single ad.

I'm also a big fan of Garfield Rush, if you're looking for a janky Subway Surfers clone where you can play dress-up with a lasagne-loving cat, but it does lock a few characters behind paywalls.
