1.  Waluigi:  This guy made his first debut in Mario Party 3, trying to be the final guy who would face the character you select in the last battle royal and duel mode.    But beyond this, this guy has served nothing more then an extra counterpart to aid Wario.  Wario makes sense because W is an inverted M, but Waluigi's head symbol is a Inverted L, which doesn't really mean anything.  We don't know much about waluigi mainly because he's been a sidekick, he doesn't even have his own game unlike the other three originals.  Wario, Mario, and Luigi have been successful enough to get their own purpose in games but Waluigi is just there..   
Seriously Nintendo what's the significance of Waluigi?


2. All the babies of the main Mario characters. 
Now first off, I'm aware two of the baby characters have been in a major game known as Super Mario World 2 yoshi's island.     But however, they only added somewhat importance to make Yoshi a main hero.  That's not really significant in my book, and on top of that the other baby versions of Luigi,  Peach, and Daisy have never been apart of any games outside of Sports or Racing games.


3. Dr Eggman/ Robotink.
This guy debuted in the Original Sonic the hedgehog one and is known as the main villain of the Sonic series, but really we the gamers at this point can ask" What's your goal?"  I mean Eggman has been beaten so many times, he's not really anything significant anymore.  
And another strange moment on top of this is the fact that he actually Saved Sonic on a Couple of Occasions,  tell me why does Eggman save Sonic if Sonic keeps getting in the way of his goals?   Oh and speaking of that blue Hedgehog..

4.  Metal Sonic 
This machine contains the speed and brains to Rival Sonic himself, hence the name metal sonic. But the blasted question that ruins this character is How on Earth Did Eggman get this guy?  If anyone knows Dr Eggman's machines, they always turn into mechanical garbage.  But Metal Sonic is the only invention that has with-stood multiple beatings from Sonic and team himself, and he's way more complex.. 

It's not  to say that Metal Sonic isn't a significant character.  He clearly is a significant character in the Sonic franchise but there's just so many questions about him that I have to throw him on this list.

5.  Dry bowser.. 
Ugh, back to mario again but this again doesn't make any sense.    Simply because he feels like an Addon,     It's a Dry bones version of Bowser but he only made a few appearances in the New Super Mario brothers game.      Since this form of bowser comes only every so often,  it makes you wonder what's the point of it in the first place? Typically when Bowser gets dropped in Lava, he gets hurt but he survives and builds another castle. He never really resorts to Dry bowser.. so what's the point here Nintendo?


There's some other characters out there Like Sans and Payprus that could've been on this list, but I prefer to keep it at 5.

Actually, I don't think Eggman belongs on the list. The simple answer to your question  "What's your goal?" is world domination. The guy's an egomaniac. If you believed you had the intelligence to take over the world, would you give up so easy? Someone with that level of a god complex is too proud to pack it up and go home. I don't have a ton of experience with the 3D Sonic games, but if I'm not mistaken, the only reason Eggman saved Sonic is to prevent the world from being destroyed. You can't conquer something that's not there.

It's also not unreasonable to assume that Metal Sonic was a fluke. I mean, he could've had some sort of technological breakthrough that he can't reproduce or maybe some sort of accident during the experimentation on a prototype.

A couple characters that I think  lost their importance about a third of the way through a game would be Vaan and Penelo from Final Fantasy XII.  Actually, now that I think about it, other than the fact that Balthier flies the ship, him and Fran don't seem to matter much later in the story, either. Even though Vaan is supposed to be the main character, almost all of the focus shifts to Ashe. It's like they rewrote the game 3 times during development.

Waluigi deserves his own FRANCHISE.
He has already broken into the music scene... 

The only thing that doesn't make sense is humans in the Pokemon world. On another game, Pokemon was able to live peacefully without humans. Yet humans are capturing Pokemon and making them fighting one another, the series would be better without humans.

Another game character is Vegeta, yes he has a backstory but really after all that he wasn't much help. If anything Vegeta got weaker like everyone else who was kept alive.

Lastly, very pop-star who wants to make a game but is not part of the game because they want to make money using their name.

Baby luigi and I think baby peach were in the Mario and Luigi series and baby luigi was even a playable character.
Waluigi is amazing and one of my favorite characters in the franchise. 

A character that doesn't make any sense? Your main character in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. 
You're the only human even mentioned in that entire game yet everyone acts like it's a normal thing ()

Nice list, and I agree with most of it. Honestly Waluigi was a pathetically silly grasp at making a new character. Wario... Eh. Waluigi? Saying the very name is almost cringeworthy. Lol Really.. What's up with the "Wa" at the beginning? Don't say "because he's Wario's brother" because by that logic Luigi should be Maluigi. It's just not a funny concept, Nintendo. I was ten or eleven when it happened, and it wasn't even funny to me then. Meh.

The baby characters are fluff and no more.

Dry Bowser. Now this one actually annoys me. Since when does Bowser die when he falls into the lava? This happened time and time again before, and now suddenly (and only in select games) he burns alive and comes back as a skeleton. No, just...no.

Really this whole thing only serves to point out a big beef I have with Nintendo: they warp their canon anytime they find it convenient. "The story at this time is that the Koopalings are not Bowser's children". At this time? Yes, for right now, but at the beginning they called Bowser their dad. This is annoying to me.
Now if a series shows that it's various iterations are taking place in alternate realities like Harvest Moon 64, Harvest Moon Back To Nature, and Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town, then it can be cool to see how things would be if certain aspects were changed, but to randomly shift them around and have them all be acknowledged and referred to by the various characters (as in Super Mario RPG, superstar saga, and Luigi's Mansion) then it just becomes confusing and a jumbled up mess. It really feels like what we have as canon now is Nintendo deciding they didn't like where they were going with it before so they changed it all...without changing any of it. I don't know. I'm rambling now.

i don't know about that others characters but I have one character that doesn't make any sense.

Nintendo's Contra was a favorite of mine as a kid. I was never anywhere near good enough to beat it without the code but when I did finally get to the end, I'm like, "WUT."

It was a go**am space alien! It was aliens the whole time. I went from being a contra, a freedom fighter in the jungles of Colombia or Bolivia or something to taking on aliens invading the world, or... something...? I don't know.

It made no sense. I'm battling aliens now. It was dudes just a few levels ago and now I'm dealing with extra terrestrials that obviously aren't keen on the humans existing.

Mind blown.... and also I called shenanigans. Aliens? Nope. It made no sense.

Ghostbear1111 : Yeah if it felt forced it's because it was. The game was actually about Terrorists, but Nintendo of America said "Nope" and the U.S. release was changed to aliens. At least that's what I hear. Obviously I never played the Japanese version myself, but I know this happened to quite a few games back in the day. Bonanza Brothers is one such game that springs to mind. You're actually good guys and not thieves? No, another plot change for NA release.

Well it depends on what street fighter game,   Dan actually had some impotance in Street fighter Alpha 2, he joined the tournament to find Sagat and avenge his dead father.

Nowadays, he's mainly trying to become a successful teacher using his saykuo arts but he keeps failing in some way, so at least dan has some goals.

From day 1 and his moveset, he was intended as a joke character.  And to be honest, dan isn't the only fighting game character to be guilty of having a stupid plot.

Tekken and Mortal kombat have also made stupid plot choices(Especially MK, stop killling off liu kang!)



DR eggman for me really I didn't understand because he saved sonic, and yet he's trying to get rid of him.   He's a good villain don't get me wrong, he just has some things about him and Metal that don't make any sense.
