I'm sure this has happened to people before. But, when you were young what video game which was a horror one scared you the most? Since most gamers would play anything that would look cool but then a certain game would give them the scare. I can't remember for my one sadly it may had been abes oddysee, but I doubt that. So if I remember I'll post it. Anyways when it does happen how do you feel? What parts of the game made you to feel scared? There will be some people who would play the game. But then wouldn't feel scared. So I do hope to get to hear your stories based on that.  

I think the game that legitimately scared me was Resident Evil. Before that,games were not that scary,but when you had the zombie dogs bust through the windows to attack you,that was freaky.

Resident Evil on playstation, really freaked me out, and then on Psp.

Oldschool777 : I would agree on that. The game had many features within it that can easily scare someone's pants off. And it wasn't something easily not to be afraid of. But the game was still far more enjoyable to play despite that. @.@

abhisek : Again you didn't explain why in details for this thread. You need to do that in every thread that you post in. Oh yeah I now remember the others one was mortal kombat and the other was chakan. Yes.....I now remember chakan which I played on the megadrive when I was really young freaked me out a lot. Because of how the whole game was. The graphics, gameplay and music as well all so creepy. @.@

It was fun to play,but I think the RE series has started to go off track as of late. But it is hard to redo the same formula to make it fresh.

Oldschool777 : Yeah that I can understand. But, I am sure that the developers of the game are really trying their best to keep it to the original as much as they can. There will be some off changes we wouldn't like. But there still be that charm of the game still kept in a way. That's the good you need to mostly look in for. I have to say RE games are doing a lot more better than some other series. If I could remember names I would list them, but you get what I mean on that right?

Curiously enough two games that really scared me as a child was Persona 3 (I think it was at least) and Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne both for the PS2. I was very young at the time when playing them not having entered middle school if memory serves me correctly. I had a bunch of pirated games that my brother left me so I often ended up playing games I knew nothing about. My mom probably didn't realize that a lot of the games were inappropriate for someone my age or she would've probably done something to prevent me from playing them.

Now for someone whose experience with JRPGs was limited up until that point and I was mostly used to a bit more kid friendly ones like Digimon or Pokemon games. You could probably imagine the terror I felt when I saw characters shooting themselves in the head to summon personas. More so considering how sudden the shift from the character going through regular school life to suddenly doing THAT seemed. Something about the game intrigued me though, like the life sim aspects so I kept playing despite it scaring me. I stopped however when I was inflicted with a curse which caused those reaper monsters to appear. I didn't really know how the system worked so it mostly just served to scare me even more when I saw them chasing me and being unable to do anything against them.

As for Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne the demonic and post apocalyptic theme it had was what really scared me about it. Games that involved transforming into demonic creatures was not really something I was about to get into at the time. I stopped playing before I could get past the beginning parts of it. 

I managed to steer clear of most actual horror games like Silent Hill until I was a bit older and a bit more prepared to handle it. I probably wouldn't have gotten far in a game like that before quitting playing it anyway though since I really was kind of a scaredy cat at the time.

Eniitan :   I remember playing the first Diablo when it came out for PC.  I was pretty young back then, and internet was just starting to get big.  Anyway, I was on my step-dad's computer and it was late in the evening.  I made it to the Butcher's room, and as I opened the door, I heard him call out to me " AHHHH, FRESH MEAT !"  That gave me a chill down my spine the first time I heard that.  The Resident Evil games were pretty good at doing scare tactics as well, especially the first two.

Zlinqxthecooluser™: Oh wow I never played those games before. The only one I would know of is pokemon. So I wouldn't like really know as much. But would like to maybe one day, but what it seems that you are describing here they can get pretty scary so I might not. Oh pokemon games scared you? Now that's something that you don't hear every day....that is really surprising to hear zlinqx. that....really is very surprising, and yeah the curse move is not really a nice one to look at. I find them pretty annoying to deal with, but that move has its moments. I never knew those types of things would scare you so much at that time.... as for Shin Megami Tensei I've never played that game before it seems like a weird game to play for me. So I might have to look that one up on Google. And as for silent hill.....I can imagine that being so scary. I haven't gotten around to playing the game as of yet. But, when that day comes I'll let you know as said before. @.@

lordbelial669 : I don't know much about that game so I am not sure how to think on it. But I did watch a couple of streamers some years ago playing it. And yeah resident evil is one of the most top known games to be a really scary and horrific game among gamers who come across it.

One series that forgot what made it great was the Front Mission series. It was a turn based,tactical mech game. But Front Mission Evolved turned it into a generic mech shoot em up. I understand that they can only do so much with zombies,mutants and an enslaved town. They do try to keep the original feel intact and I do appreciate that.

Shin Megumi Tensei series was about demons and other otherworldly beings that came to earth by either their own will or by a portal. You and your party had to fight them,negotiate with them to earn spell cards (to enable you to summon a being of your own,I loved negotiating with demons to earn things.) and collecting said cards to fuse them into more powerful beings. Your best bet was to try to have a party that can handle a wide array of scenarios and whatever you could not use magic on,be on standby to heal or just get medieval on them.

Oldschool777 : I've never heard of front mission before....I might got and check that out. Also for Shin Megumi Tensei thank you for taking the time to explain what the game is about. It sounds rather odd, and had not ever come to see that type of gaming before. I doubt that I would play the game though. I might do it depends. I'll have to check more into the game very soon to make my final decision based on if I want to play it or not. If I do eventually choose to play I do hope I enjoy the game a lot more as you have described it.

Shin Megumi Tensei is a JRPG. You are usually on a quest to close a demon portal or to defend people that cannot defend themselves from demons. You also have a "Persona" or a another self to aid you in battle. If you do try Front Mission,play the turn based ones. You will not be disappointed. The last turn based one I could find was Front Mission 4 for PS2.

You know when you find a good game to play recommended by someone or by a friend its on a console that you don't have which make you upset. And I really dislike that when it happens. '-'

They came out on numerous consoles,but I did play Persona (SMT universe) on PS1,they have a Persona 2 on there as well. Persona 3 was on PS3 and I did play Shin Megumi Tensei Online until their servers closed down.

Oldschool777 : I'm not really into persona games. I might have to try and see if I'll like it by looking up, and seeing what the game is about. I know zander is a huge fan of it. If that, or I might have to ask zander himself what the game is about. Also its my fault I should had said and meant Shin Megumi Tensei. Is it an online game or is it playable on consoles? Because...if its an online game I might get pretty upset since I don't play online games. @.@

Persona and SMT as essentially one and the same. It was an online game until the game's servers shut down. It is a shame,most on there are very helpful.
