I've been doing a lot of nuzlockes recently and I'm currently about to start up a soul silver nuzlocke

I'm hoping I can spice things up a bit by having you guys on the forums help me come up with some new rules

the basic rules for a nuzlocke are already in place:
if a Pokémon faints in battle it must be released
all Pokémon must be named
one catch per route

Some standard rules that people use are

*set mode (you don't get to switch out as the opponent sends a pokemon in)
*no items in-battle (you can only heal pokemon outside of battle, pokeballs are of course an exception)
*healing points (every time you pass by a pokecenter or a person that heals you, you get a healing point. every time you heal up your pokemon using a pokecenter or a person that heals you, you lose a healing point. this essentially makes it so you can only heal once for every pokecenter you encounter)

or you can play a nuzlocke variant like a wedlocke.

halopro15 : A wedlocke is a variant where two party members are paired together. Once you pair two partners together, you cannot box one of them in the PC. These two are supposed to work together as much as possible, and cannot be send out in dubble battles seperately. You always have to have those two battle as a duo. If one of the paired Pokemon die, the other one becomes the "lone wolf", and must have a new partner as soon as possible. A lone wolf must always fight alone.

An optional rule is that Pokemon with the ability 'Oblivious' cannot be used, because Attract doesn't work on them, meaning they cannot love. Harsh.

I don't really like wedlockes, though. But I can see why people do.
