Hey guys, Tyranit here with a review of Mega Man X. X is a variable with infinite possibilities, which is something Capcom took very seriously, as the X series took a darker turn from the classic series, with new robots called Reploids that can think and feel for themselves. The X series feels like an upgrade to the classic series, kind of like how X gets his upgrades throughout the games. Anyway, onto the review.
Graphics - 9
The graphics of Mega Man X are astoundingly good, as Mega Man X looks great, and so do newcomers Zero, Vile, Sigma, the new bosses called "Mavericks" and the normal enemies. The 16 bit graphics are well used in the designs of all the bosses, all of which being animals, like Chill Penguin, or Flame Mammoth. I like the weapon animations, as well as the new charged weapons. I can't give it a perfect score because no game from the Super Nintendo can look as good as games now, but back then, it was beautiful, and still looks pleasing today.
Sound - 10
The music of Mega Man X is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about it, except for making remixes. These tracks are amazing, everything from Central Highway, to Chill Penguin, to Launch Octopus, to Storm Eagle, to Sigma Stage 1, everything is accounted for, and everything sounds dang good. My favorite track from this game is Boomer Kuwanger's theme, which integrates a nice piano line with some good power chords, as I would interpret it if it were not a chip tune from a 16 bit console. The only bad song in this game is Sigma Stage 4, but that level is just a vertical shaft to wall jump up to the final boss, so it doesn't need to be good, just eerie, and it does the job nicely.
Addictiveness - 8
Mega Man X is pretty addictive because you can just sit down and play a stage if you're bored, that is if you want to go through Central Highway all the time, but you can use a password to just get by that. I love trying my hand at "Perfect Running" (going through a stage without getting hit, including the boss) and "No Miss" (never miss a shot, match with Perfect Runs for the hardest thing you will ever do in life). I also just like playing for a time killer. It isn't an addictive game like say Candy Crush where you want to keep clearing a multitude of stages, or else you would run out because there are only 13 stages in this game.
Story - 7
For a Super Nintendo game, Mega Man X knocks it out of the park for a story line. *SPOILERS* (Despite the fact this game is about 22 years old). Dr. Light has created a new Mega Man under the name of X, a new type of robot that can think and feel for itself without the use of artificial intelligence. Dr. Light puts X under testing for a number of years to make sure he would not turn against the world when he came out of his pod. Dr. Light never got to release X because he died, but a new doctor under the name Dr. Cain discovers X, and begins to make copies of Light's robot, despite the fact that Dr. Light left a message to never create a copy of X, as they would not be tested as much as X. Dr. Cain goes ahead and creates copies anyway, and creates a new race called Reploids, which are robots that act like humans. Some of these robots go maverick and start attacking others, wounding or killing them, so the Maverick Hunters are created, led by their original leader Sigma. Sigma ends up going maverick after fighting Zero, as Zero was created by Dr. Wily with the Zero Virus, which also can turn other Reploids Maverick, then it is up to X and Zero to defeat Sigma to restore peace to the world. They end up doing this, but Sigma somehow makes it out alive after 3 forms of him you have to fight, leading to the sequel. This story was jam packed, but some of it was needed from the manual, and some of it came from flashbacks in later games like Mega Man X4 or Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X (the remake of this game).
Depth - 5
Mega Man X isn't very big, as I have stated before, only having 13 stages. However, Mega Man X has new upgrades to collect, creating back tracking to older levels to receive Armor Parts, like the Buster Part to charge your weapons in Flame Mammoth's stage, or the Chest Armor, letting X take half as much damage as he did before in Sting Chameleon's stage. You also have 8 Heart Containers to boost your health, one in every stage, and you have 4 Sub Tanks to collect, so you can refill your health during a stage, kind of like an energy tank, but you have to collect health while at full health to start filling your Sub Tanks.
Difficulty - 4
Mega Man X is not hard at all. Once you start getting your upgrades, using your weapons on the boss that it is strong against, and getting used to the stiff controls, it gets very easy, very quick. The only difficulty I have with this game is in Sigma Stage 1, using the floating platforms to get across a giant bottomless chasm, as I kept falling off by mistiming my wall jumps against the moving platforms.
Overall - 9
Overall, Mega Man X is well deserving of a 9 out of 10 because it is one of the best games for the Super Nintendo, has a great story, and is easy enough for a casual gamer to pick up and play. Mega Man X is a great place to start in the X series, as it is the first game in the series, but is also one of the easiest. Anyway, this has been my review of Mega Man X, and I hope you enjoyed reading!

nice review you gave details about the game. I like the X series myself. The only thing I would recommend is space the categories out it is easier to read when the sections are broken up. Other than that you did good
