So I have just bought Pokemon Omega Ruby. I'm just past Slateport City, so I'm fairly early in the game, when another player challenged me to an online battle. I know NOTHING about online battling, so I was really eager to find out if it was any fun. I accepted the challenge without any expectations, really. My team at that point consisted of a Grovyle, a Taillow, a Skitty, a Kadabra, an Electrike and a Geodude. I figured the game would have some sort of filter to make sure players are 'compatible', or something...
Turns out, the other guy had a team consisting of four legendary Pokemon, and two Charizards. I mean, really? Before the battle even started, I was like 'disconnect, disconnect, disconnect...' But during the getting-ready phase, there is no way to back out for some reason. So I gulped, and got all my party Pokémon ready for the fight.
I started off the battle with Geodude, and he started out with Charizard. Luckily, the levels were all made even, so we were all of Lv 50. Before I could get in an attack, the other guy decides to use a mega stone to get Mega Charizard X. You know, the black one, that's part Dragon-typing... I was like "really, dawg? Look at what I'm using!"
...But neither of us knew that that day, my Geodude was in for some all-you-can-eat Charizard buffet.
So after the change was done, my Geodude got in a Rock Tomb which is Roxanne's TM that I taught to him. It still did a surprising amount of damage! The guy retaliated with Flame Charge, a Fire-type physical move, which did nearly a quarter of damage to my Geodude. I didn't had many options, so I decided to go with another Rock Tomb. The guy did another Flame Charge, which critted my Geodude, bringing him to red health, to which I responded with ANOTHER Rock Tomb!
His Charizard could've dealt the final blow there, but - and I dunno what he was thinking - he thought it would be fun to use Fire Fang, a move with 95% accuracy...
...And he missed, and Geodude finished him off. My Geodude didn't only face a Mega Charizard and live, he took it out.
Afterward his team, consisting of all legendary Pokemon other than another Charizard, whiped the floor with me because I was no match for him, but I cannot believe that my little inexperienced Geodude was able to take out the Fire/Dragon dual-type Mega Charizard X. I could only imagine the look on that guy's face. ^^'
This was probably some 10 year-old who had just as little experience as I have with competitive battling, judging by the Pokemon he was using, lol. Still, you can probably understand how proud I am of my little piece of data that is Cobble the Geodude.
