There is a "super moon" lunar eclipse coming the 27th of September. It's a rarity to see two celestial events at once, well, I believe it is. So this will be worth watching. I just hope that it is clear skies for anyone interested in it.

It's going to be a rare sight to behold indeed. I might get to see it. Thanks for informing me about this.

Until now, I'd only briefly heard about this. I always tend to find events like this to be quite interesting, so it will definitely be something for me to check out. I just hope that no outside factors interfere with me seeing this event. It would be unfortunate to miss out because of cloudy skies or even something as lame as homework. Nonetheless, it will certainly be something to mark own on my calendar.

What time will this be visible? I'm interested in it, though I haven't the faintest idea what a super moon is. lol It sounds interesting.

A super moon is a moon that is in perigee and that is closest to the Earth in its orbit. I just know that it's going to happen on the night of the 27th of this month.

I didn't even know of this, thanks for bringing it up. I'll definitely check it out.

I found this cool site that talks about it.

http://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/super-full-moon.html

According to this, the best time to enjoy a Super Moon is right at Moonrise, that way you can compare the sizes to the hills and trees and whatnot. It's said to be brighter and larger than the average Full Moon. Also, that on the same night there's going to be a Total Lunar Eclipse that should last more than 3 hours... Sounds like it's going to be an awesome night.

I don't know how much of a rarity it is to see two celestial events occurring at the same time, but if we don't catch this now, our next opportunity will not arrive til 2033. So this is extremely important, but some are plain just not interested in things like this, but when a rarity happens, usually you don't want to pass up a chance to get a glimpse of it.

Yeah I heard about this from my dad. I can't wait to see this with my own eye's, I'm very excited.

This is something I won't pass up because I might not be able to see it again. 2033 is a long time from now after all.

I was really excited about the supermoon when I heard about. I was going to go outside and take pictures...then I just got caught up with work and stuff and completely forgot about it.

I took some pictures of this days ago. Here is my instagram layout of the night.

We had a great view of the event and I had some good shots. My only regret is to not get a longer lens to frame the moon to fit the full picture.

Since I was living so far west (about 100 km from The Pacific Time Zone) I saw The moon when it was nearly eclipsed already. But I have to say that seeing it red like this was impressive. That is The beauty of The moon: it is easy to see in an urban setting because it is so bright.
