So, I have decided what route I want to go when it comes to my channel... for the most part. I have decided that I want my channel to be on the campaign and stories of video games. For now, it will be mostly XBOX ONE games, but once I get a gaming PC, hopefully within the next year, I will be doing PC games, too. Now, I do do some other games, like zombies on Call of Duty, Town of Salem, and Smite on my XBOX ONE.

But, I want to do something else to bring in some more views. So, I am coming to Vizzed to ask for advice. What would you guys like to see me make videos of? Please, clean stuff only. I am open to suggestions. However, there are some things I am not willing to, like dance. Yeah, that is not happening again.

One thing I've noticed is how often you stop playing to check your laptop/phone. That's actually quite annoying, if I'm being honest. Even something like Windows Movie Maker can help you cut those scenes, if you have to check your laptop.

mrfe : I can't do that, exactly. Since I make my videos by streaming to Twitch, I only have a choice to export my videos to YouTube. I don't have the option to download the videos so I can edit them.

Yeah, as mrfe said, you should consider cleaning up your videos... Cut out the parts you pause, cut out parts that you don't want people seeing, cut out parts that's been frozen, so on... Add special effects, some funny captions, an intro and an outro... That should gather a couple of views, to be honest.

Try to complete games as fast as you can, as complete you can, or put in Let's Plays, like I do with my extremely small channel.
As for suggestions, hmm. I would have suggested ESO, but you tried that and ended up hating it, so... Although, for Let's Plays, MMORPGs are sucky since there's technically no endings. So it can end up a pretty friggin' long-winded series.
May I suggest Dying Light? It's pretty freakin' decent, and the only game that I pre-ordered and finished within a week, and 100 percented within two weeks. I'm talking about morning to night gaming addiction. Yes. Although, in my opinion, Dying Light does best in co-op, but it has servers for you to find another player to play with. It's also on XBOX ONE, but I'm not sure about the co-op servers on Xbox, so be careful on that part.
Might I also suggest the Saint Rows series? It's pretty silly, but in my opinion, it's an awesome game to play.

If I'm going to be blunt it's not the content of the videos that require work. The quality of the videos are garbage.

Hypercam is never a good software to record games with. There's also a tremendous amount of lag in the videos. It turned me away from the videos instantly.

Same goes for your live videos. Might want to consider getting a better camera to record with. Your intro for the channel is 30 minutes long and also terrible quality. If you're going to make one you don't have to livestream and then upload everything. Just make a nice 30 second to 2 minute clip about your channel and upload it.

It doesn't matter how good the content may be in the videos nobody is going to watch it if the quality is that bad.

Blubcreator : I have a laptop webcam and my XBOX ONE Kinect. That's the only cameras I have.

Also, I don't know which videos you were looking at. You must have been looking at my
really old ones. Everything I have done in the past couple of months should be a lot better quality, especially the last couple of weeks, what with getting a new modem that works better, and making the switch from WiFi on my XBOX ONE to hooking it up to Ethernet.

And if I need to make a shorter intro video, what would you suggest me putting into a short video like that?

thing1 : Yes you can download them by using this website. Don't use Windows Movie Maker though, it's an absolute nightmare to work with. I recommend Sony Vegas Pro. That's what I use. It's like $400 but you can get it for free online.

Another suggestion - cut your videos down so they are less than 20 minutes each. No one wants to sit there and watch an hour-long video. If you cut them up using Sony Vegas or some other editing software it will make the videos much more watcher-friendly as well as giving you more videos to upload.

tgags123 : The reason my videos are as long as they are is because I want to be known for my own thing. EVERYBODY cuts their videos down. I have decided that I want to be known for playing the stories or campaigns of games. And, I want people to see the raw footage, not the " highlights ". The Halo Co-Ops are at least 40 minutes to an hour and a half each, as we are doing it on legendary difficulty, while skull and terminal hunting. And then the Forza Horizon 2 videos are 4 races each, but I have to drive to each race, and then each new area, so that's about 45 minutes each there.

I agree, when I stream / make videos, I need to not have my phone on me, and just play, and complete the video. And, when the screen goes to pause ( for example, when I find a terminal in Halo: TMCC ), that I can try to edit that out.

Honestly, I don't much like having an intro. Don't get me wrong, it makes a mark on who a person is, but to me is seems kind of corny, unless I am just introducing myself every video, which I still don't feel like doing, as I feel it gets repetitive, and boring. As for the outro, I can try to make something that I throw onto the end of every video, and add the previous video in the series, and a random video on my channel each time.

But, I want to be known for doing my own thing... not taking bits and pieces of other people's style or doing what others are doing.

thing1 : Yeah I apologize for that. I looked at the videos in the front page of your channel not realizing how old they were.

The quality is fine then however you're silent for 80% of the video and your videos on average are 50 minutes. I know its been said before but you might want to consider cutting your videos or try to commentate more.

I also speak for everyone who has misophonia, it gets a bit irritating hearing you eat into the mic and burp at times.

My final bit of criticism would be that you check your laptop a lot and that can also get annoying.

For your channel trailer just make it a short clip showcasing the stuff you do. Someone just talking about there channel into a camera doesn't grab their eyes and no one will sit through a 30-40 minute video.

As was mentioned, I don't mean cutting boring parts necessarily. Just parts where literally nothing's happening. If you want to leave in the portions where you're driving to the next race, I got nothing against that. It's when you stop to check your laptop, phone, or to talk to a friend that it might be smart to edit it.

Remember, 99% of viewers will only watch if the content is continuous and enjoyable. Think of yourself as an addition to the video, not the main focus. Your goal is to create an environment that's enjoyable and relevant, not to be why the video exists.

For example, if I wanted to watch Destiny gameplay (as I haven't bought the game, and am still up in the air about whether I will), there's a chance I'll find your video while browsing and give it a shot. If a lot of it is you talking, or if there are many pauses for various reasons in the video, I'll likely just look for a different video to watch with similar content.

There's nothing wrong with doing things like checking your laptop or phone while playing. However, leaving it in the video creates a bad image, and doesn't really inspire me to continue watching.

You can also download any youtube videos from your dashboard, just hit the down arrow next to the 'edit' link.

tgags123 : Well, if I make them into 20 minute segments, wouldn't it be weird to end the first 20 minute segment in the middle of a fight or a race, and then pick up the 2nd part in the middle of said fight or race? Also, how would an intro work for Parts 2 and 3? That's my concern there.

Blubcreator : Honestly, I find it easier to commentate if I have somebody I am playing with, or if my chat in my stream is active. If you look at my Forza Horizon 2 videos compared to my Halo: TMCC Co-Op Videos, you can tell there is a considerable difference, and I honestly credit my roommate Robert for that, and have continually thanked for it. We are actually taking about doing other games and stuff once we build me a gaming PC.
As for eating and burping, I will try to not eat during streams anymore, unless me and Robert ( my roommate ) are having a few drinks during a stream. Would that possibly help with your misophonia?
The reason I check my laptop a lot is because I have to update stream data, or other stuff. Honestly, most of the time, it is replying to Snowdeath, who is deaf; she's usually the only regular I have in my stream. I don't want her to feel left out. That is why I have subtitles turned on if they are available, no matter what, and play through cinematics. I have actually had a few people praise me in my streams for playing the cinematics and subtitles in games.
As for the 2 minute clip you suggested, perhaps a highlight video of the best parts of my videos? Like... Markiplier's Highlight Videos, for lack of a better example off the top of my head?

mrfe : So, what you are suggesting is do commentary, but don't be continually doing so? And to keep the focus on game play? Basically what I addressed with Blubcreator?

Sorry, I guess I wasn't as clear as I meant to be. Commentating and talking is fine.

Think of it like a football game. The commentators aren't why you watch, but they add to the experience. When doing gameplay videos, you have a similar role.

As for checking your laptop and stuff, it's not a big deal if it's brief. However, when it lasts more than like 3-5 seconds, it can be annoying. Perhaps time it during cutscenes or times when people will actually be interested in what's on the gamescreen, and therefore less focused on you?

mrfe : Makes sense.
Blubcreator : I just thought of something I want to add to what I was saying before about cutting up videos.
I could do World of Tanks by battle, instead of a few battles per video. However, my videos like Halo: TMCC, and Forza, I want to keep those by mission / series, which would mean 45 to an hour and a half each. It just feels more smooth and easy to maintain to me.

My suggestions:

1. Get a PS4 and record yourself playing helldivers with Eirinn.

2. See suggestion one.

3. I haven't seen your videos yet so my apologies if you do this, but I think having a series of game discussion videos would be great. Maybe you talk about various series or upcoming games, or top ten lists, etc. This would be even better if you had people that joined you for each discussion. Maybe use Skype and call up some friends for an organized (take turns so no one talks over the other) group review/prediction/countdown/etc.

4. Give me my shoes back. You stole my shoes for that dance video. I would have loaned them to you if you'd asked.

5. Seriously, see point number one.

6. Try new games and genres. Maybe have First Impressions or something. Don't be afraid to make videos on games that no one else does, it'll get more views. Honestly, if you and Markiplier make a video on the same game, who do you think people will watch? The one they already know well. Pick unique titles, the fewer people there are covering it, the more views you'll get.

7. Point. one. read.

I know this is all game related, but I feel that consistency in content is better than a channel that covers sports and music and movies and games and...you know? It draws a specific audience.

you could give up on the whole gaming channel thing, it would seem like that is not your best suit. the idea of youtube is to make videos that you want to make, not have a person copy another person. you are forced to cut the video or one day a copyright infringement might happen in a game, you dont have any rights as to posting cutscenes or music so yes cut them for goodness sake. lastly you are not the first to come up with the "no-cutting" videos, there really hasnt been anyone famous for doing that because no one wants to waste 5mins on you, they visit your channel for a video that might be entertainment not a visit to see who wins at a snail race.

thats the hard facts that you must face when becoming a youtuber.

thing1 : Well you wouldn't just cut it right at 20 minutes, find a spot where there is a cutscene or something and cut it there. You can also record an intro using your camera and put it in the beginning of the video when editing it so there shouldn't be any issues there.
