So simple question, Do you like horror movies? I love horror movies! I have seen so many horror movies that now I am pretty much immune to all horror movies when it comes to being scared. I have seen some pretty dumb horror movies as well lol. I mean there is a couple of good ones out there but some of them just seem to be going down hill. I mean I guess it's because I have seen so many though. I am willing to watch a horror movie any day at any time.

Bintsy : Guurl, Horror is like my middle name. It's my favourite thing in this world, It's just so fun to watch and get engrossed in. I do agree with the going down hill part though most horror movies aren't even scary instead of screams and chills all it is now is a BIG CRINGE now not scary just cringy and plain stupid, and I like all kinds of horror Mystery, Psychological Thriller, and Gore/Torture but guess what sadly Anime is the only thing that can meet my expectations any more. I just feel people can't think up anything very eerie or scary, any more it's all been done basically.

I've tried watching every horror movie that I can over the last few years and I find nearly all of them leave me wishing for "the good old days". I'm not sure if I don't let myself get engrossed or if they are just really bad movies but so far I haven't come across much that is scary. Maybe I'm too old for it now or something.... not really sure.


I would love to get suggestions on movies you guys thought were really scary so I have something new to watch.

I like horror movies thanks to my dad having them on in the living room when I was younger.
Use to be scared seeing it on but than I eventually got use to the blood, gore and violence.

I have seen different kinds of horror movies. I prefer watching ones like HellRaiser, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Mist.

I agree that some of the horror movies are going downhill, Saw is a perfect example. I am up to watching any horror movie's, as long as it's good.

geeogree : How about Paranormal Activity? This film might make you jump or flitch a few times, I know I did. If you saw it already than consider giving The Descent, The Mist or The Evil Dead a try.

cnw64 : seen all of the paranormal activity movies. They were okay but not great.

Seen all the others as well. They all had their good points but not really outstanding either. Plus I think they were all remakes or rip-offs of something older and better.

geeogree : Honestly geeo, I would like suggestions myself. It seems I am on the same boat as you when it comes to horror movies. Nothing is scary to me.. I don't think it has to do with your age though.. I think it might have to do with how many scary movies that we have watched in our lifetime. 

cnw64 : I have seen all those movies as well.. I mean like geeo said they had some good parts but to me it just wasn't scary. I honestly wish they would make a movie that every horror fan would enjoy watching .. concerning how scary it is.

I don't mind horror movies. I don't get scared, but there are times jumpscares cause me to move (not because it's scary or unexpected. it just happens). I still have some that I want to watch, but of the ones I've seen, I haven't found them that scary.

megamanmaniac : I hate jump scares as an overall horror movie tactic. They aren't actually very creative. I actually prefer the non-jump-scare moments that create some extra tension.


I really enjoyed the original Halloween movies for creating tension. You would see the bad guy but not quite see him. I didn't find those movies "scary" but I definitely felt tension waiting for the next attack.


I've been trying to think of a movie that actually has scared me recently and I can't think of one.

The last one I can think of that actually got to me was the Dawn of the Dead remake from 2004 (I think). My wife and I were engaged when we watched it and neither of us could sleep that night because of it. We stayed on the phone for several hours before we were both tired enough to fall asleep easily. Since then I can't think of one that has stuck with me that strongly.

Never watched one so no.

geeogree : Your probably right about them being remakes, it seems that a majority of horror movies are based off of the ones that were made back in the day. Which horror movie's do you think are commendable ?

Bintsy : I never actually enjoyed horror movies until I was 18. Now I am 24 and horror movies are awesome, and to me comical. It may be that I use laughter to control my fear. 

No I do not, strangely enough though I like horror games but I cannot stand horror films, I just think watching them at a young age ruined the experience of horror films for me.

It kinda depends. Some Horror movies are so bad, that they are funny. When I was younger me and my friends would watch them sometimes just to make fun of them.

I mean how can you take a Movie like Killer Klowns from outer space seriously? lol

Overall though, I'm not a huge fan of the genre.

Nope. Thing does not do horror movies. Or Horror anything for that matter. 

Horror films are an acquired taste, and one I've acquired in a unique way.

Whenever I watch horror films I go over all the flaws in detail. For some that would ruin the experience but for me it improves it.

I can't really stand a horror movie unless it actually has a good story, like I loved the haunting in Connecticut. But if its just too stupid, or is Just for the scares, I don't like them at all.

If by horror you mean gore everywhere, I actually hate it. But if you mean movies that make you jump off your seat then yes, from time to time. The original Scream movie was quite original: horror movie fans so used to cliches that they get caught into them. But the most surprising one was The Ring; it was the only movie to (literally) make me scream in fright.

To be honest, I can't stand horror movies. If I'm going to watch a movie, I'd much rather either see a comedy or an action packed blockbuster. I want to enjoy myself at the theater, not get spooked out. If I'm getting scared I can't enjoy my popcorn as much...
