Yep, you read it right.

Me and my brother Bombchu link are entering a Super Smash Bros tournament here in the West Coast of Oregon, and It will be streamed.

Road to Glory, Is the name, I'm not sure of an official link to the stream, but I'll be sure to get the link up when I find it. I'm sure I can ask of it when I'm at the tourney. So yeah, that'll work.

The place will be held at a really neat place called "Pixel battles" I remember talking to the clerk there quite a few times. He's a great guy, and I've enjoyed endlessly talking to him about what makes games good, and receiving his counsel on what I should think about in the creation of my PC game someday.

So, here's a shout out to him and Pixel Battles. It's a pretty cool place to be.


------ So, what to look for.

Me and Bombchu link will be signing up for Singles, and Double, teaming up in doubles. (respectively). Sadly, even though me and my sister make a great team. (http://tri-shield.deviantart.com/) So, for Singles you can:

- Look for the username Sword Legion and BLink (yes, bomb, is using a slightly different name).

- Expect me to use Mario. Unless I counter pick as Dr. Mario. (possibly against Ness)

- Expect to see my bro, bombchu link main Jiggly Puff OR Toon Link.


Now, for Doubles, you can expect the pretty much the same thing.


I plan on using Mario pretty much the whole way through. Dr. Mario is slower, and although his pills are nice against some opponents, and the Dr. Tornado is a great overall improvement, I feel like speed is the real thing to most of these fighting games. Especially against unknown opponents. Also, I'm more used to how Mario's cape works as opposed to the Dr.'s, or really I'm more used to it.

Combos suck, I'm not really sure what to expect. I know that zero suite can cause some trouble, particularly cause of her range and and speed. Mario I've found can get a few good one's in with fireballs during your in air approach. Also, in the air, Mario's Uair and Backair is pretty good on low percentages, you can get two hits in on each.

Sweet, I will definitely check this out and root for you guys. What happens if you were to win?

Are you guys going to have to physically show up to the location for the tournament? And when will it be? 

I absolutely love smash bros but I don't have any money to play anything except ssb64. I'd love to enter tournaments and stuff like you guys and I'll be rooting for you guys.

Wow. I really wish you good luck with your brother at the tournament. I'm a Smash Wii U player myself, and I hope you know your stuff against people like Diddy Kong's infamous d-throw to u-air combo. The 3 biggest characters you have to know to put up against are Diddy Kong, Toon Link, and Sonic.

Not going to watch the stream since I am usually busy, but I will be happy if there are any good Wii U players there. The fact that it is all the way in Oregon questions me: How are you able to get to all these tournaments when you have to have a lot of money for just the traveling!? At least you and your brother can represent a bit of the Vizzed site because there aren't too many Smash players on the site, as far as I know, aside from a tournament that I said in a thread over Nintendo Network that I didn't have the game at that time. But again, hope you can get far.

Okay, guys, I'm at the Pixel Battles, it's a great place! I got somebody helping me connect to Wifi here, and now I'm on the internet!

I Haven't participated in a match yet, but I was able to get in some practice with some relly nice fellows. and Got a few compliments.

It's looking good, I've only lost in team battles, but I haven't succumbed yet to any one on one matches for practice.

I've enjoyed the friendly competition that's taken place. Some people are quitec, others are quite outgoing. It really is a great time to be here.

Mario is my main, and I haven't played as anyone else yet.

An Update.

Me and bombchu fought alongside each other in doubles.

Our opponents were some guys who got in for free, they competed in the Melee doubles, and the owners of this shop decided to let them in for free.


----- the 1st Battle.

We slowly started to get behind. Out opponents choose Lucina, and Pac-Man.

I choose Mario. Bomb choose Jiggly Puff.


The Fire hydrant Pac-Man started throwing down was more of a help to me than them. KOing Lucina once I believe thanks to a firey smash on Mario's end.

I remember getting Ko'd, putting us behind, and I still hadn't heard anything from Bomchu's side. Then Bomb would suddenly land a successful rest. KOing Pac-Man.


As the battle went on, Bomchu was eliminated, and I was left to face, Lucina, (one stock) and Pac-Man (two Stock.)

The match started out everyone at three stock.

I managed to KO Pac man and keep the fight going, when he respawned after my KO, my heart sank. I had taken on two people before in team battle, and survived. It was one of my favorite things to do. With two people working together against one, I knew that they would be leary of one another. Fireballs and large jumps + backing up would serve me well. Them not landing any really smashes.

I got Lucina up to 110% and Pac-Man somewhere around 30-40. But After breaching 100 in my own damage, I was launched and destroyed by Lucina's blade.

But there was still two more matches to go.

I'm looking for that site to watch the thing unravel, I'll be watching. Sooo... what site? I'll check for "Pixel Battles" after this.

----- The 2nd match.

Windy Hill Zone, Live and Learn. Too bad I couldn't hear the music over all the chatter.

Man, that match went just about as well.

Pretty much the same thing. Except worse on my end, and better on Bombs. I still had to fend for myself in the after, math, that being, everyone having two stock left, and Bomb having been eliminated.

I died shortly there after, and was down to one stock.

Not as long lived as the first match, Lucina put me out. Too bad. Game over. I've been eliminated now, right?


----- Not quite yet!

Turns out I would get a second chance at redemption. I was surprised by this, how it would take two losses before elimination. Maybe I would actually do it this time.


----- Not really.


Me and bombchu didn't do too well. Once again not even getting to the third stage. The first stage was a slop, but not as bad as the second.

My efforts against Sheik, were put down by a string of combos. I need to work on my ability to fight Sheik, AND Zero suit when it comes to the air game. I remember when my cousin started using Zero Suite, and what a pain it was.

I don't know enough about the meta game to recognize any official lists of good "counterpicks" ect. But I always like to tell myslef. "You need to do better." Before I say, "It was just stacked against you."


Our opponents were Fox, and Sheik. After a suffering another loss, bombchu commented that "Sheik was the noob here" and that he should have fought him. I told him that Fox was the noob, not Sheik. I found Fox easy to fight compared to her. Bomb found Sheik an easier opponent.

Apparently we had marked our wrong targets. We should have traded spaces, and took on the opponents that we could deal with more easily, and I saw it too, halfway through the second match.

*sigh*

All that remains now is Singles.

Having been defeated by two opposing teams, we have been eliminated from Doubles.


But the battle is no over!

Me and bombchu never really did Team play, me and my sister did however. I wish I could have done it with her.

Ah, well, on to Singles!

Oh trust me, learning how to make use of Zero Suit's techniques makes you crazy in doubles. So what have we learned today children?...

Bomb and Sword can't wombo combo.
So you wouldn't happen to have a tape of the match or anything would you?

Singles has begun, and I finished my first match.

Man, I am feeling it. I had to fight. . . Game and Watch. I went right ahead and filled bucket up, knowing what he had planned. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to cape his attack back at him.

My opponent claimed that it was a counter pick, I found the suggestion silly.

- First stock.

He finished me, but I got after taking only 38% damage. But that's okay, it's just the beginning.

- Second stock.

He killed me will a filled bucket of oil while I tried to recover. *sigh* on to the next battle.


This battle was horrible, I got two stocked, and apparently, Game and Watch isn't a combo. I kind just walked off after the fact, not showing any emotion really. But they guy didn't want me to leave feeling down. He asked if this was my first tournament, and I said it was. He told me to practice Some ammibos, those will get you in shape and will force you to adapt. He said that they were literally hell incarnated into smash brothers.

Also, he said not to feel down, his first tournament was bad too, and that I should definitely come to these any time I could for practice.

I'm not eliminated, but one more loss and I'm out. . .


MECHA LEO HELP MEEEE!!!!

Bomch won his first match. He choose Jiggly puff, and his opponent choose Little Mac. Bomb then changed his decision, and moved the token over Toon Link, selecting him instead.

Waiting a few moments to see if his opponent would change, Bomb had his answer.

His opponent was fine with the selection of Little Mac.


By keeping him away with Boomerang and arrows, Bomchu won the match and made it to the next round.

Horray for Bomb. ^^'

We live in Oregon, plus the place wasn't to far away. I would love to represent Vizzed here. I've told a few guys I'm blogging this and have some fans here, they think it's neat.

Right now I'm finding Sheik/Zero Suite to be a pain. hopefully I can regain my footing and self confidence and take it to em!

thing1 : It's on right now, but no stream, and yes, it's a physical tournament. I'm here and the place is great. There are a fair amount of nice people too, which is great. I'm having fun, though I've lost a lot outside of practice. (Man, I had it good when I first started!)

I would love to keep on going. But man, I feel like it's coming dry.

I know I'm not this bad. I'm trying to figure out what was wrong with my last match. Perhaps I'm too intimidated. Perhaps a loss at the doubles has put my mind of a mode of weakness. It's 3:47. I have yet to have my second match. They're still finishing up doubles, and they're behind on the schedule.

Ah well, it's only one match, but hey, I can still do well. What I need to do, is practice some one on ones while I wait. That's what I'll do.

You got this, Sword. Remember the 2x4 analogy: you can walk across it with no trouble, but if I set it up five stories high, you wouldn't want to try it. Why? It's still the same 2x4, the only thing that's changed is the way you look at it.

Just think of it like a match against one of your siblings at home.
