Mario must die...Seriously, what ever could possess someone to make an impossible Mario hack like this!!?? I am not a fan of this game. The premise is interesting...the game is not. Why? Because it is utterly impossible to play! I have spent hours on this game, never getting past the first few feet of the first level! But as a game, I will go into it's other qualities.

Graphics: 9
The graphics are as good as any other Mario game, and that's always a good nine just for that. Mario is known for having high graphical quality, well if you don't count the blocky Super Mario 64.

Sound: 9
Once again, on par with regular Mario games. The sound is fun yet suspenseful. It's pretty fitting given the setting of the game.
 
Addictiveness: 1
What??? A mario game gets a rating of 1 for addictiveness? How is this possible? Well, perhaps if I felt there was a point to actually play this game, I could give it a higher rating. I never like to do this to a game, but come on! In the level where you can usually get a freebie power-up, you cannot procure anything out of the four blocks sitting there. Since when did that happen. If you go about three feet into the game, you'll get stuck, You can only glitch your way back to the beginning, but you cannot move forward. I'm sorry, I love hard, but I generally like to feel as though there is a way out of the level!

Story: 1
I know I have often said that they need a different storyline than the old "let's go rescue the princess thing" but this was NOT what I had in mind. Bowser teams up with Hitler and Satan? (Well I'm pretty sure I know where Bowser's going when he dies!) Was that the best excuse that they could think of to give you an impossible game???

Depth: 10
It's deep because it's probably as long as the other mario games, but you cannot get past the first wall in the level! I'm sorry, but I'm no glitch master, and I really feel like this game's a bottomless pit!

Difficulty: 10
Yep, you know what this number means, the impossible game! There just seems to be no way or sense to anything here, I mean come on! I run a few feet and run into a block that I cannot destroy? I have to try super hard not to get caught above the platform with the mushroom, just so I can glitch back to the start of the level, where I just die anyway? This game has tortured me for hours, and I'm a pretty tough player, but I will most definitely not be completing this game anytime soon!

I never like to rate a game this low in my reviews, but I'll be honest, the game was blessed to get those 10's in depth and difficulty! My opinion of this game's rating is well 1. But in truth, it has enough good qualities to get higher than that...technically!

I never have understood hacks like this. It really makes no sense at all to make a game that's impossible to beat. Someone should hack it to see if it even has more than that one level.

I would have rated it around 2.7 honestly, and only because of the graphics. But good for you that you're nicer to them than I. xD

Uggg... sounds like a hack I'd hate. Don't get me wrong, I like hard games (Mega Man. Must more be said?), but not this type of hard. Good job on the review, and I'll look at this, just for curiosity. That story, though.... sounds fan fic worthy to me.

FaithFighter : Yea... beating a hard game is part of the fun of playing hard games. When it becomes impossible to beat it is when the game starts getting repetitive and dumb. But seriously, the plot is worthy of being a fan fic, and that isn't a good thing. Um, maybe the only way to beat the game is through cheats. But using cheats take away the fun. 

ZeroTails : Well, I'm not an expert of cheating at games, so that really would not work for me. As long as I have been playing, I have always perfected everyhting without looking up answers or whatnot. I think that takes away from the game, and only weakens your ability to play. whereas beating and perfecting the game on your own, it feels good because you know you figured it out.

FaithFighter : Pretty much... I used to cheat on games, but I soon realized that was boring, so now I don't use cheats at all. Beating the game legit is much more rewarding.

These are the I wanna be for the Mario World Hacking universe. They are supposed to be extremely difficult and only knowing about glitches and other stuff you'll be able to pull off something in the game.

I went to Youtube when I saw your review and searched for TAS videos of this hackrom. With precise button pressing you can complete this game in HALF AN HOUR. Obviously, you must know everything about the same game to achieve this.

Mario Must Die is known by many people to be, without a doubt, the most difficult Mario hack by a huge margin. It uses basically every known glitch in Super Mario World, but also has some ridiculously hard non-glitch challenges. With Gameshark codes to enable invincibility and moonjumping, I still couldn't beat the first level. Yes, a game so difficult that not even the most overpowered hacks can make you beat it. Enjoy. Pretty hard, eh?

But anyways, the review. You probably should have watched a TAS of the game before reviewing it. The game is actually pretty short (there's only 10 levels I believe, but the last level takes up 1/3 of the entire game), the songs are all completely different than the original Super Mario World songs (the creator used music from other games like Bomberman and Zombies Ate My Neighbors!, but also used a few pop songs), and the story was supposed to be funny (I thought it was) and it didn't really deserve a 1.

A bit harsh of me, but it seemed like you played the game for 5 minutes and knew practically nothing about the game. It could've been a great review if you actually played or watched past the first part of the first level. I've done this for a few of my reviews and this is a friendly suggestion for you as well: If you haven't played more than 25% of the game, watch a TAS or skim through a guide or even another review.
