Time for a review made by The IB, for the game that I happened to be reviewing is on New Super Mario Bros. 2. This game was released on July 12th, 2012 in North America and it is the 3rd installment in the New Super Mario Bros. series (after 2006’s New Super Mario Bros. and 2009’s New Super Mario Bros. Wii). New Super Mario Bros. 2 follows the similarity from Super Mario Bros. 3 (I wished it was the same exact levels like in Super Mario Bros. 3, but oh well).

Graphics..

The Graphics to my opinion are a more updated version from the last New Super Mario Bros. game that was released back on the DS in 2006, but a whole lot more clearer and more in 3D, although the 3D effects that comes with the 3DS don’t really have much of an impact with the 3D playing in New Super Mario Bros. 2, but if you like to play 3D gaming. The graphics from this game shares the same graphic style that we know back in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and all that is fit into New Super Mario Bros. 2, and I think when I first played this game, it was an outstanding upgrade than the last New Super Mario Bros game that was released on the Nintendo DS, to have these outstanding graphics. I think it is a nice upgrade for the handheld devices. HD graphics on a handheld, this is why I love on how much the Mario series has really went a long way since the series started back in 1985, and nearly 30 year, that is progress right there, and this is why I like video games in general, the ever so changing graphics and everything else.

As for the score for the graphics, I got to give it a perfect 10 out of 10, the reason I gave it this score, it just got so clear and High Def graphics and they have made a few changes from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The game has great graphics and I think this game and the Wii game has both been benchmarks for future Mario platformer games.

 ------------

Sound/Music..

For the sound effects, Nintendo brought all the sound effects they had from New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and they have put them into the 3DS handheld and the sound effects still sounds like the same as on the T.V. with no alternatives, and I do like things to be in its original form and that’s what some gamers like, as long it keeps the sound track when they a new game, that’s what makes it get a higher rating, and as long that they didn’t mess up the sounds, and it’s not just they brought from the Wii, but from the first New Super Mario Bros. game on the original DS game, and bringing both sounds are amazing.

As for the Music in the game, it is very similar as with the sound effects, they have made the music that they created for the Wii and put it into the 3DS with no limitation with the music, and going from the console version of the Wii to the handheld version of the 3DS, I think this is what makes the music really great, I think that with the music, I think Nintendo did a great job with the music in the game as well, and like I said with the Wii review I made, it is a really catchy tune and each level has their own music and this is what I like about Mario Music. That’s all I got for the music.

As for the Sound Effects and the Music, I’m going to give it a perfect 10 out of 10, I think with Nintendo bringing everything they made in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and fit it all into the 3DS known as New Super Mario Bros. 2. Trust me, I think you’ll really like the music in this game.

 ------------

Addiction Level..

I think with the later the New Super Mario Bros. games being released, for some reason, they get a whole lot more addicting and addicting, like with New Super Mario Bros. 2, I think I have been more addicted to this game more than New Super Mario Bros. 1 and Wii. I’m not sure on why it gets so addicting, but it’s at a point, you just don’t want to give up playing this game and this was my favorite game once I got the 3DS until I returned to Pokemon series where I liked Pokemon Y. But it is still up there in the Top 5 favorite game on the 3DS. I think if you do like the Mario series, I think on a personal note, you will be really hooked on this game a whole lot and I don’t think you’ll absolutely give up this game if you’re a serious Mario fan. I think as of modern gaming, this would be the Mario game to play and it’s my most favorite modern Mario game so far right now and everything I mentioned in this review is why it is my most favorite modern Mario game.

As with that speaking, I will give the Addiction Level a perfect 10 out of 10, It’s got a whole lot that will keep you playing on the 3DS. A highly addicting Mario game that will make you play, and I also think with the coin high score toy can get, I think this also adds in the addiction as well.

 ------------

The Storyline..

The does follow the same classic storyline we all know since 1985, but this time, the storyline follows something similar to how New Super Mario Bros. Wii followed; Bowser has sent 7 of his kids to kidnap Princess Peach. The story starts where Mario and Luigi to go gather a bunch of coins, and after they have completed their coin grapping, and the brothers realized that Peach was missing and then suddenly, the Koopa clown car (yes, the same car from Super Mario World) returns in this game and one of them has reveled that they have yet, again kidnapped Princess Peach and they flee while Mario and Luigi is pursuing them, and thus your adventure begins. You have the traditional 8 worlds, but it follows the same concept from New Super Mario Bros. You can only have to beat 6 of those 8 worlds, where 2 of them are optional, the Mushroom World and the Flower World, but completing both of these worlds will skip World 3 & 4). After you go through 8 Worlds with Bowser and the kids messing around you around with Peach, you have finally reached Bowser’s castle, once you enter, you’ll see both Bowser with Princess Peach in a cage locked up, you first have to go over him and press the button to send him down like in the classic game, and the game is over, right? Wrong, they pull the cage that contains Peach away and the kids all give Bowser a power-up and make him mega and you have to battle him once more and once you beat him once again and it is finally over and you can fly back to the Mushroom Kingdom.

So, for the story, I will give this game a 6 out of 10, nothing really new with the storyline because it’s really the mix of Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. So, yeah, nothing new, Bowser kidnaps Peach and holds her hostage until you travel 8 worlds (6 of 8 worlds in this game) and you have to defeat him twice in order to save Peach once again, for now.

 ------------

Depth..

Mostly this game focus more on the coins and gold more than anything else in the game (other than the classic Mario storyline), in this game it introduce a new game mode called “Coin Rush” where you collect as many coins as you can within a time limit, and to gain all those coins, all you need to do is to collect the coins like the traditional way plus also defeating gold enemies and/or defeating enemies as Gold Mario, and that’ll end up gaining a bunch more coins in your coin count, plus also collect 10 gold coin and 100 gold coin to also raise your coin count a whole lot more. You also can have a friend no matter if you’re playing with someone in real life on online; you’ll be playing with someone in the Co-op play which playing with someone can be fun. Or you can just simply play the Single Player mode, if you want to go on the adventure to save Peach on your own. So, whatever you choose, I think you will have a whole lot of interesting things in these levels, give it a try and collect all those coins.

For the Depth score, I will give it a perfect 10 out of 10. I think the coins are controlling me with this review, but in this game, you can’t really stop thinking about coins; because this game is all about coins, well, not really. This game isn’t all about coins; it’s got a lot of things in this game that also brings stuff from past Mario games we know very well like returning items and returning enemies with the introduction of new items and new enemies. I think this game has like the most added content since New Super Mario Bros. on the original DS.

 ------------

Difficulty / Gameplay..

The difficulty of New Super Mario Bros. 2 isn’t really hard, if you’re used to the Mario series especially the past two New Super Mario Bros. games, you really know on what you’re doing in this game. But if you’re new to New Super Mario Bros, It’s basically like the classic Mario games in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, just with updated graphics to fit in with the modern era of gaming, and if you aren’t familiar with the Mario series and this is your first time, then this game will be quite tough to beat and after taking a little bit of time to get used to, you’ll find this game quite easy. Normally, people plays to the end of world 8 and beat the game and call it quits, but they are a couple of people that are 100%ers and they want to fully complete the whole game with nothing left to get.

As for the Gameplay, It really has the same controls as in New Super Mario Bros on the original DS system, so it doesn’t really matter if you use the circle pad or the d-pad, they don’t really make any difference to your gameplay. But despite the similar controls, but the gameplay is completely different, like all the different power-ups you have like the return of the Super leaf, it brings back Raccoon Mario from Super Mario Bros. 3, and a bunch of other things in the game, so it’s a combination of Super Mario Bros. 3 and New Super Mario Bros together makes this game a wonderful game.

For the Difficulty and the Gameplay, I’m going to give it a 7 out of 10. I think with how much difficult this game is, it doesn’t have a whole lot of difficult to it at all if you know the Mario series very well, but if not, and then it can be tough. And I think with the coin rush that I mentioned in the Depth, I think this game mode made it a lot tougher because you got to get as much coins as you can before time runs out and complete the level.

 ------------

Overall..

Overall, I think the game is one outstanding Mario game and this game ends up being my 5th favorite Mario game of all times (only behind Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64). I think with my thoughts with this game I think this game being made from the Wii version and fit all into this game with all the unique graphics, sound effects, and the music from that game, I think that makes me want to play this game a lot more, but that is to my opinion, and for both the Addiction Level and the Depth of this game also wants to you collect all those gold coins as high as you can and it will make you want to play this game a whole lot longer than you want to which is why it’s so addicting and also it brings that classic Bowser kidnapping Peach storyline with Bowser sending his kids to do his dirty work, talk about father of the year. And the game isn’t really that hard if you’re used to the series and it brings back the controls from the New Super Mario Bros. game on the Nintendo DS system.

For the final score on New Super Mario Bros. 2, I have to give this game a 9.3 out of 10. I really like this game and it’s my most favorite modern Mario game, I think with this game, it’s got a whole lot of interesting features to try out and I think on a personal note, this game right here is a fun and entertaining game and I think you will enjoy this game a whole lot and give this game a shot. A great game in the Mario series and one of the top games in the Modern-era, give this wonderful game a shot, I think you’ll love this game. That’s it with this review.
