Which of the three are your favorites? My personal favorite has to be the third one, just because the story is much bigger and finally involves more characters than just you and the space beasties! Metroid Prime 2 had an awesome concept of the double dimensions, though. Personally, the first is also a great game in my opinion, because they have pretty well varied areas on one planet--within one dimension. What also puts Prime 3 over the top is the two battles with Ridley and the planet phazee. The first battle with Ridley while falling down the core is just 100% epic!

I liked the variety in the first one. It was fresh, new, and lonely in a good way. The added story in the second and third Primes wasn't that great and just got in the way of the atmosphere of the game. Prime 2 was also good from a level design perspective, but it was tiring and boring to look at with all that darkness and purple. Corruption was fine, but I didn't like how everything wasn't as connected as before. I had trouble ever getting into it.

Before I begin, I'd like to say that I'm so glad other people are fans of Metroid Prime on Vizzed! It's my favorite series of all time.

That being said, my favorite is an uncommon one, which is Metroid Prime 2. It was like the first one but even more lonely and dark, and I love transitioning from light and dark worlds. In the dark world, you feel genuinely vulnerable. The ammo system added new depth and strategy to the game, and the overall difficulty of the game was perfect. It was really difficult, but not frustratingly so, and I always wanted to push forward. The character of Dark Samus felt like a genuine threat and kept me intrigued throughout the whole game. I love Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and I'd even call it my favorite game of all time.

I also love the first Metroid prime as well, but I felt like the third one wasn't as much an explorative journey that the first two were, it felt much more linear and the sense of lonliness was broken by the fact that you constantly had human people with you or contacting you through radio. Not a bad game, but I'd say it's the worst out of the three. The first two are masterpieces, though. My personal favorite being the second one. Check out my review of it I did a few years back!
