Guess who's back! You missed me didn't you? Hehehe... eheheh... heh.

Anyways today I'm writing a review of none other game then the #1 most popular indie game ever made (and probably the most modded game as well) Minecraft!

You know since Microsoft acquired mojang recently I thought it would be the perfect time.

Anyways I don't got much to say about this game... I got it back in April-May to play on the minecraft server... And that was around 4-5 months ago and I've played this game for almost every day since... Go figure. Also I'm approaching this a bit differently then my regular reviews due to diversity of the game but hopefully you'll enjoy reading this review anyways.

[Skips this part]

Graphics: 8

As famous as this game is for being one of the most engrossing games out there, it's also famous for the not so eye pleasing graphics to some which in case you didn't know is voxel based. However I do think this graphics style works pretty well with the games main elements which for me would be mining, crafting and building. Another nice thing about the graphics style is that even your toaster can run it (even my trusty 3 year old laptop). And frankly I think it was a better decision then to go with a more realistic graphics style that would age in just a few years. But I think it really depends on your preferences some might say the uniqueness and simplicity of the graphics has a kind of charm to them. Some might even get a kind of retro feel from them... And you could probably count me into that group. Nevertheless there's another option for those who can't stand the textures of the game in the form of texture packs. Many players have made texture packs for the games in many different styles that are free to download and I've only tried out a few but I'm pretty sure everybody can find something that suits their taste (I'm serious there's even a pack where everything is covered in candy) the one bad thing about this though is that some might require you to downgrade to a slightly older version of the game to be able to use it.

Sound: 7

The sound in this game isn't the worst I've heard. There are plenty of sound effects for all the different actions to be heard that usually fit fairly well in the game although they did feel slightly corny sometimes and did get kind of repetitive (though that could just be because I've been playing it for as long as I have). As for the soundtrack the game does have a decent amount of them most being pretty calm and giving you the feel like you're in this vast and open world. The main problem I had with the soundtracks though wasn't the soundtracks themselves oddly enough rather that it's just so hard to get them to play sometimes especially when around half of them only trigger when you play in creative mode or on the title screen (I'm not even kidding) which I think is a really weird decision since I do actually like all of them and makes me have to lower the rating a bit.

Addictiveness: 10

If I could ever just a play a single game for the rest of my life I'm pretty sure this would be it. I've played this game for several months now and I'm still addicted to it and play almost every day. The single player mode on it's own is pretty addicting and has a lot to do but the multiplayer is where this game truly shines. Thanks to the power of mods you can literally almost find any kind of server you could imagine.
Want a cross between a game of CoD and paintball? A server that focuses entirely on Mario party esque mini games?? A community based building server with a little bit of everything added in (hint hint nudge nudge go play on the vizzed minecraft server). Or a hunger games inspired pvp based server? (I don't volunteer as tribute). The gameplay can be so diverse and I feel like that's one of it's greatest strengths. If you get bored of building you could try a pvp based server or maybe even that CoD inspired one. However I feel like I should talk about the core mechanics of the unmodified version of the game as well. Basically as the name implies you mine for materials, craft them into items that can be used for various purposes and then you can build giant structures or even towns, kill lots of monsters or just huddle in a corner hoping that a creeper wont come and blow up in your face (probably one of my personal favorite activities) and this is made all the more fun when you play on online servers with others. Especially with all the different mods if you get burned out on the vanilla version of the game. I feel this also makes it kind of hard to rate it since the game can be a little bit of everything. If there's one thing that might bore some a bit on the vanilla version of the game is the combat. It's pretty basic as in it's real time combat where all you do is hit the opponent without trying to get hit... Not much more to it then that. There are a few different armors (there aren't really much diversity in different types of armours as there's basically one that is superior to the rest) as well as 2 different types of weapons swords and bows. Swords are mainly what you'll be using but bows can be useful for some situations as well. Something that does add a bit more depth is enchantments which you can craft and add to your armour to make yourself a killing machine. There's also 2 bosses in the game however I won't delve much into them as I personally haven't battled either one. The combat however is another one of those things that is subjective some might find it boring others might enjoy it. I personally found it surprisingly fun at times although I still mainly focus on the building aspect of the game. Oh and when playing single player there are 2 different modes. Survival (which is the most played mode where you mine, craft and build stuff while trying to survive) and creative mode (which is basically a mode where you're immortal, have an unlimited amount of each item and can fly) which is basically made if you just want to build without any consequences. A small nitpick I have about the game by the way is that there's no recipe book where you can look up things you have already crafted. I think it would be nice if they added that sometime in the future to prevent having to do lots of searching on the minecraft wiki whenever you want to craft something, granted there might be a mod for it.

Story: -

Probably the weakest part of the game is the story... Or is it? This game literally has the most basic story out of any game I have played (more basic then the original super Mario bros). You spawn in a world where you're left to do whatever you want. There are 2 bosses that you can defeat one is the ender dragon which if you defeat the credits of the game will roll and the other is the wither which if you defeat... I don't really know what happens actually. And that's about it really. There's no guidance up to that point you're really just left to stumble upon it yourself... Or don't. This is a game where you come up with your own story really as the bosses are more of an optional side thing that you can try do defeat if you want. Otherwise you're left to your own devices. You can become a rich tycoon who lives in an extremely expensive palace and constantly? tries to get his hands on more materials... ehehe. Or you could become a monster hunter who's sole purpose is to kill as many mobs as it is humanly possible. Or... You could huddle up in a corner and hope a creeper doesn't blow you up. Like I said it's up to you really what you make of it. And in my opinion that's for the better of the game.

Depth: 10

Even if you've barely even heard of this game before this review, you could probably see this 10 coming from a mile away provided you read the previous parts of this review. Like I said there's so many different servers and mods that there's really something to suit almost anybodies taste. Even then it's kind of hard to gauge how long this game will last you since what goal you set for yourself is entirely up to you. You could play this for a week and be perfectly content... Or more likely then not you'll play it for several weeks on end constantly setting new goals for yourself.

Difficulty: 7

The difficulty of the game depends on a lot of different factors. Like if you're playing the single player game or not or which server and with what mods. But for simpleness sake I'll base the rating of the standard normal survival mode in single player which has it's fair share of hard moments though you can't actually die you could lose every item you haven't stored away when a creeper sneaks up from behind and blows you up causing you to rage quit for 3 days and then come back to try to desperately figure out where you built your little shack with the little amount of remaining supplies in it... Or you could be especially daring and play on hardcore mode where death = game over. Or if you're like me and you mostly huddle in a corner on survival mode (okay I'll stop). You might be having a more difficult time deciding what your mega base will be built out of and what the layout will be like.

Overall: 9.3

It has a few flaws which are mostly nitpicks but the positives far outweigh the negatives in my opinion. This is a game you should try out no matter what your preferences in gaming are. There's almost bound to be something that you'll find fun not to mention this game is really cheap anyways only being 25 dollars and can potentially last you longer then some blockbuster mmo's do. So if you're bored of all your current games and want to give something new a try definitely pick this one up and while at it try out the vizzed minecraft server, where you can meet yours truly.

And that's another review done... Though I must say this game was really hard to review so feel free to leave some feedback on what you thought about my review and what I can do to improve my reviews in the future and feel free to rate it as well.

Aw man, the famous game is finally reviewed by the Zlinqxmaster. I have to say, I played this game with a friend once and it was pretty funny but it's more like the kind of games that I play with friends instead of on my own. Still, all those things about the game were really interesting to hear from your own experiences (especially the huddling up ). And of course, it's interesting to see how people review a game that has been reviewed many times already. Good job on your review, I think you really have to keep making them, you make them at a fair rate and you put a lot of thought into them.

I've had Minecraft since the first day of Alpha and have been with it ever since. Keeping up to date with each release and studying each new feature to master it. It has been a long ride since then. I think you rated it fairly. It's not impressive graphically yeah but that just adds to the style and uniqueness that is Minecraft. Great review for a great game.

Also welcome back.

juuldude : yes the zlinqxster in da house. And yeah I have to agree this game while still having a solid single player experience truly shines when playing with friends. And thanks I really do try to add my own touch to my reviews especially when reviewing games that have already been reviewed countless times like this one so it's nice to hear that you like them, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon heck I'm even thinking about trying to get staff position eventually if my reviews are up to par.

Ps. Check out the vizzed minecraft server it's awesome

hckarbiter : Yeah I tried to stay as unbiased as I could even though it was somewhat hard considering how much I've played (which still isn't close to how long you must have played it for) and yeah while people like to hate on the graphics style it does have that uniqueness to it and I think it fits well with the game although some might not agree. I'm glad that you liked it

Ps. I haven't actually been gone for long just been on a break from reviewing for a bit and haven't been on vizzed as much but thanks for the welcome nevertheless.

I would like to try it out, but I don't have Minecraft and it costs money, which me and my parents don't want to spend
It's good to add your own touch, especially to over-reviewed games. I am going to make my review soon as well (I think maybe tomorrow) and I think that you would do good as reviewer, many people have shown interest in your reviews. If I try hard as well it might be a position that could fit me as well, I try to reach the quota (which is one review per month) currently, as it shouldn't be too hard and it keeps you focused.

juuldude : Isn't the quota for staff 1 review per week? I thought the 1 per month was for walkthrough makers. And I see I thought you already had it but if you ever want to get a new game in the future this is one I would definitely recommend especially since it's only like 20 euros which is quite cheap for the amount of content you're getting. And feel free to summon me I like reading reviews... If I may ask what game are you reviewing?

Zlinqx : I believe the applications state that it's 2-4 reviews per month, but I have heard site staff people saying it's just once per month.
I don't know if you have seen this already but this might interest you: http://9gag.com/gag/aoZ139A?ref=fsidebar
I am planning to review Yoshi's Island for the GBA, and after that I'm going to review more Mario games, as I got into these recently.

juuldude : I see well I'm still most likely going to try to do 1 per week since I think that's a pretty nice rate prevents me from getting rusty

And yeah I read that 9gag post earlier I honestly could see why he'd sell it I'm not sure if I would want that kind of attention and the pressure that comes with it and he probably thought Microsoft would be the ideal company to keep developing minecraft. And that's cool I'll check it out once you do I've always loved yoshi's island games.

Zlinqx : It's 2-4 a month or depending on how many positions you have it could only be 150CP~300CP for reviewing.

Nice review!

I wish I had more time to do some Minecrafting, because if I did I would. Also GL with that review job.

I really enjoyed reading this review. It was very descriptive, and described this classic game very well, even for the 2 people on earth that have yet to play it XD
The review flowed quite well too.
Great Job

Warioman21 : I'm glad you agree with my review, I tried to be as fair as possible and if you ever want to play together just go on the vizzed minecraft server I'm on quite often there so finding me shouldn't be too hard.

baileyface544 : Thanks! I try to be fairly descriptive in my reviews without going to a point where it becomes really dull. And you know the ironic part is I used to be one of those people up until earlier this year XD But yeah this is a game I recommend anyone to try out if they are able to.
