Hey everyone, been awhile since I did a review on a retro game. This time I will be doing a review on an arcade hit from the 90's, Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior! Now Some people have their different opinions on which Street Fighter 2 is the best depending on how many characters there are, how fast the fighting is, etc. For this review I will share my opinions based on what I played on the physical copy that I have so, let's get down to it!
GRAPHICS: For the most part, the graphics are pretty decent for it being on SNES, the game is colorful in its own way, the characters have just a little bit of detail, and almost every character portrait is the same on the game over screen but some are kinda changed due to the censorships in nintendo's hardware. It's pretty good overall to the arcade comparison though!
SOUND: Okay, the sound in the game is nice, not perfect but nice. You have sounds from Ryu's Hadoken shout to your character's cry on the game over screen, but I just think that there is just some sounds missing if not kinda edited in my opinion.
ADDICTIVENESS: What can I say, the only thing that pretty much changes in the game is the characters that you're going to face and pretty much fighting your friends in proving who's better. Other then that there isn't really much that'll keep you coming back for more.
STORY: There isn't really a story in the game as far as I know of.
DEPTH: There isn't really that much in this version of Street Fighter 2. You only have only either 8 or a little more characters to choose from, and there is a little more fighters than what you get to fight, that I'm not really going to get into at this moment. You'll basically have to find that out for yourself if you have never played the game before or just have never gotten that far.
DIFFICULTY: Well, just like every fighting game, the difficulty gets easy at first then it gets harder as you progress. Not really a big surprise but the final boss (I've never been this far so, I wouldn't know) may just be the toughest.
Well, overall this game is a good game and a good substitute to saving your time and quarters on trying to beat this game in the arcades but, one little thing I forgot to mention is that this game may just have just a little bit of frame rate issues. Some things that you do or that happens in the game will slow the game down for a bit, it's minor but can get just a little annoying if you hate it. Hope you enjoyed this review AND enjoyed playing the game like I did, and if you're up for it you could get a SUPABOY to play this game on the go! As always I will see you guys in the next review!
