I love The Simpsons, but I think Family Guy is definitely better. However, The Simpsons does demand a lot of respect for being pretty much the first (and definitely longest running) almost-all-ages animated TV show.

if we are talking about overall quality, including past episodes, then the simpsons are better because the quality of the first 10 seasons is amazing and is far better then most other comedies.
if we are talking about how the shows are currently, in just the past couple seasons to the present, then diffently family guy. simpsons has been going down hill for a while. there are still some good jokes and gags but family guy just has a better overall feel. plus brian is an atheist so that wins some points for me but really, i prefere southpark over simpsons and family, but only when they handle political issues and such. they just have a style that is undoable by others, plus the cartman episode where he realizes white is a minority too was a good one.

family guy actually steals a lot of ideas from the simpsons. I grew up watching the simpsons, so there is that kind of nastolgia for me. However, I was too young to get most of the jokes then. If i were to pick one to watch today, it would be Family Guy. That show's ridiculous (in the best way).

The Simpsons is way better than Family guy. Family Guy is basically a ruder, more modern version of the Simpsons (which is a bad thing). The Simpsons is a classic, and it seems as though Family guy copied the structure of the simpsons, only adding a few changes.

I like family guy its one of my favorite shows i watch it all the time on adult swim tbs and i catch and record the new episodes every week i think it is way funnier than the simpsons but i always enjoyed the simpsons also family was influenced by the simpsons so it is a classic show that everyone like but they are both great animated comedy shows. But im still going to have go will my man peter, stewie and the rest of the funny characters on family guy.

Well The Simpsons are veterans when it comes to T.V humor, while Family Guy is a newbie show.

Although Family Guy is funny, it got less funnier as new seasons came about, imo.
But I still watch the old season of Family Guy.
