We all know they will be a smash bros for the 3ds and were exited and all but how can a tiny 3ds screen fit for 4 player it sounds crazy I mean we have never seen a handheld smash bros so we don't know how they could work out I guess playing it on a 3ds xl would make it a slightly better experience but if you already have a 3ds will you buy an xl just for smash bros

Well I don't know how it will be done, but they don't have to actually fit all four players on a single screen if they don't want. Since each player has their own screen, they could just make the "camera" follow each player's character. As long as the angle is wide enough to show two players and the space around them, they're good.

However, I would suspect that they'll fit all of them on, and do so by zooming out when necessary, and simply putting a "1p" "2p" etc. over each character's head. That would fix any problems as well.

Also of note: if they did like I suggested in the first paragraph, they could also use the second screen to display where the other players are.

I think what eirinn said is what they are most likely going to do for the 3ds because some characters are pretty big, so it would be hard to fit 4 characters on the screen without zooming out a lot. Good question though, I am really anticipating this game though and I think it will turn out okay for the 3ds, but honestly I wiuld love to play it on the wii U because the graphics look amazing. Im assuming they will just do a zoomed out view only when its necessary.

They will fit all the characters on-screen at once, and the screen will shrink or expand as characters move closer or farther apart (versus a much larger display on a TV changing less). If you want some perspective, here is a video of some gameplay: PSASBR Gameplay. Otherwise, that whole outline thing sounds pretty neat, I know it would definitely help see some of the characters more prominently. And yeah, an XL would probably help.

I think they will have the option of name creating like brawl and melee so that it will always stay with your character but I'm not sure if they are going to allow that for online since there's not really that much restriction on local and online with friends.
