This is it, folks. The grand finale. The end of an era. The final part of my guide to getting every star coin in Super Mario 3D Land. I'm kind of rushing through this, so things may be a bit undescriptive. Deal with it. I apologize, but... yeah. I hope I help you!

THE SUPER MASTER THREAD LOCATOR:

Part 1 - Worlds 1-4
Part 2 - Worlds 5-8
Part 3 - Special Worlds 1-4
Part 4 - You're reading it.
Part 5 - Special World 9 and How to Unlock

And now... It's time to finish this once and for all!

S-5

Special 5-1 - The first coin might be seen by you while you're playing. It's high above a red platform. There should be 4 blocks against the wall. The second has a Statue Leaf, so you might want that. Anyhow, just on top of the blocks then onto the platform behind them. Jump off the platform onto the red platforms and hopefully you'll get the star coin. You know how just past the halfway flag there are a whole bunch of large spike ball generators? Go past the first few until you have to go up the stairs. When you get to the top, walk onto the blue platform, but go left. You'll see the star coin with a generator right behind it. The last coin is really easy. Near the end of the level you'll see it above 2 red platforms. Jump onto the blue platform to the side, then jump once more onto the red platform. Keep going until you get to the edge and grab the coin.

Special 5-2 - Go through the level like normal until you get to the big red ! block. Hit it three times and jump up the newly created stairs ito the first star coin. Go just past the halfway flag until you see the star coin on your right. Jump onto the donut bridge to collect the coin, then carefully jump back. The final coin is above a spike platform. Jump onto the platform (make sure you time it correctly) and jump once more to collect the last star coin in this level.

Special 5-3 - When you get to the geyser that has 2 different tracks above it, take the left track. Keep going until you get to the item box. Jump on top of it and you should be able to reach the first star coin from there. The second coin is incredibly simple. Somewhere along the track you'll see the star coin directly above your head. Jump up to grab it. On the last drop before the end of the level, you'll notice some donut blocks to your right. On the other side of the donut platform is the last star coin.

Special 5-4 - Just before the first warp box is the first star coin. Get on the last moving platform you have to jump on before the warp box. Directly above you is the star coin. Quickly jump and catch it. When you're climbing up the vertical part of the level, look on the right side of the screen for the coin's shadow. When you see it, jump onto the platform underneath it. Wait for the next moving platform, then jump on top of it so you can reach the coin. Almost immediately after it (just past the 2 flophoppers), the star coin will be on the right side of the screen. Stay near the top and wait for the 2nd platform past the flophoppers to come. Quickly jump on top of it and jump again for the last coin.

Special 5-5 - Go just past the halfway flag. See that goomba? This is an interesting coin. Defeat the Goomba and he'll drop the coin. The second coin is the same. When you get to the room filled with the ghosts (I think they're called Peepas), defeat the goomba in front of you. He'll drop the second coin. And the last coin? Yeah, from a goomba. When you get to the last room, which is filled with Boos, you'll see the final goomba.

Special 5-Castle - Go to the section with the spinning platforms that are floating on lava (you'll know it when you see it). At the very, very start of it you'll see your star coin. Jump there just when a new platform is coming out of the lava. Just after that is the area with the sideways-moving platforms. The second star coin is at the very, very end of that area. Right when you collect the coin, jump onto the stationary ground. Keep going until the battle with Bowser. See those 2 blocks with the star coin above them? You'll want to very quickly jump on top of these blocks to reach the star coin. Bowser's fireballs will crush the blocks, so that's why you have to go fast.

S-6

Special 6-1 - First, make sure you grab the propeller hat. Next, go up to the note block. Bounce off of it, use the propeller hat, and fly around the corner onto the moving platform. When it reaches max height, use your hat again and grab the star coin. When you go inside to the room with 3 doors (including where you came from), go to the very top door. Jump off the left edge and (maybe) use the propeller hat to reach the second star coin. Keep the propeller hat to the very end. When you get to the flagpole, jump on top of the mini thwomp. Fly off of him and you'll be able to reach the last star coin.

Special 6-2 - This is the donut level, yes? When you reach the large platform of donut blocks with the goombas on it, you'll see the first star coin. Jump over the gap through the star coin and continue through the level. When you get past the red coin ring and there are 2 paths (upper and lower), take the left (lower) path and wall jump once you reach the end. The last coin is high above the warp box. Jump off of the highest donut bridge before it (long jump if you don't have Tanooki Mario) and (hopefully) grab the star coin.

Special 6-3 - The first coin isn't even... How does one miss this? While playing through the level, you'll see it (literally the only time you won't see it is if you're blind). Jump underneath it and collect it. When you get to the pipe at the end of the level, you'll see another green ! button. Jump on it and immediately jump again. Once you land on the second level, jump another time as fast as you can. The green platforms that the button creates will bend over your head, so you have to go fast. Go back through the pipe and go left to the wall. See those blocks at the bottom? Smash through them to reveal a hidden room with a bee and your star coin.

Special 6-4 - Go through the level until you get to the area with the platform above you with the star coin on it. Jump on top of the item blocks next to it to get on top of there and to access the first coin. Keep going until you see the second star coin off the edge of the red spinning block. Jump down and grab the coin, but very quickly walljump back onto the red block. When you get to the last are with the, what, 15 spinning blocks, jump on the first blue block but then jump to your left onto a somewhat hidden blue block. Your last star coin should be there.

Special 6-5 - When you get to the last green moving platform, go left on it. You'll see an item roulette block. Keep going left until you hit the edge. Walk over to the very left of the platform and you'll see the star coin. Jump off the platform and grab the coin, then quickly change direction. Go pat the midway flag onto the spinning, circular, checkerboard platform. You should see the star coin on the edge of it next to a spike block. Carefully walk over to the side of the block and grab your second star coin. This last coin is very well hidden in my opinion. At the end of the level, to the right of the door you should see three coins. Jump underneath them to revel 3 hidden blocks. Jump on top of them and jump on the 2 blocks closest to the wall behind you. This will reveal two more hidden blocks. Jump on top of them and finally jump underneath the block closest to the wall. This will reveal the last hidden block, on top of which you will be able to access the coin.

Special 6-Airship - Go until you reach the green pipe. At the bottom right of your screen you will catch a glimpse of the first star coin. Ground pound on the blocks guarding it and quickly grab the coin. Go back through the pipe and defeat the boss. When you come out, jump up the stairs to the single red/blue platform. On the red side will be your second star coin. Keep going until you reach the long red/blue platform with the spike block on the red side. When it's on the blue side, jump up and grab the coin which will be above the red side. But be careful, because the star coin is directly above the spike block.

We're getting closer!!

S-7

Special 7-1 - Go all the way to the roulette item block in front of the tall tree trunk. Behind this tree is your first star coin. Go to the warp block and complete the next section of the level. When you get to the third section with the bouncy wires that you have to climb, climb on the right side of the bouncy wires. On top of the right trunk is your second star coin. Go all the way to the final warp box (that leads to the flagpole). Change direction and go down and you'll see the last star coin on a bouncy platform.

Special 7-2 - Go to the two item boxes and the triple item box just before the first door. Jump on top of the triple item box to access your first coin. When you get to the first section with the swinging spike bar, you should see the shadow of the star coin. Wall jump off of the wall behind you to reach the coin. The last coin is at the last swinging spike bar. It is located high above the yellow platform. Right when the yellow platform is created, run and jump off of the blue platform and you'll hopefully grab the last star coin.

Special 7-3 - When you get to the last spinning cog before the blue swinging platforms, walk over to the left side of it and jump onto the hidden wooden platform. Hit the red ! block 6 times and follow the new path to the star coin. When you get past the pole to where the 3 different tunnels are, take the left one. Jump beneath the star coin and grab it. Go through the level until you get to the red coin ring. Go on the right side of it and use a Tanooki suit to glide forward onto the L-shaped cog in front of you. The star coin will be there. Pro tip: To finish the level quicker, use the Tanooki suit to slowfall over to the top of the flagpole to skip a portion of the level.

Special 7-4 - Just for the record, THIS IS MY ALL TIME LEAST FAVORITE FRICKIN' LEVEL IN ANY MARIO GAME. What
idiot decided to mix red/blue platforms up with Shadow Mario? This level is seriously tough for me. Well, enough ranting. The first star coin is at the red/blue section just past the 2 bees. On one side of the spike bar, the star coin will be on the blue side of the platform. Go to the area with the randomly placed blocks everywhere. Jump on top of the winged item box and jump again to grab the second coin. Just before the last area (at the longest red/blue section), the last star coin will be on the 3rd-to-last blue platform. I'm not talking about the end area with the longer platforms, no, I'm talking about the red/blue area before it.

Special 7-5 - When you get to the winged item box, jump on top of it so you can reach the first star coin. Keep going through the area with the spinning reddish cylinders until you see the reddish cylinder on the side. Jump onto that one and grab the star coin. Keep going through the level. When you reach the warp box, go past it and up the stairs to the top of that ship. Jump on the purple platform and walk across it to the reddish cylinder, where the last star coin is located.

Special 7-Castle - When you get to the triple item box between 4 pillars (2 touching it), jump on top of the item box then onto the left pillars to collect the first coin. Do I even need to explain where this next coin is? Where thwomps would normally be (but they aren't because this is special world), there's a little cave on the wall with the star coin in it. The only tough part about that coin is not getting hit by Shadow Mario. The last coin is at the last section with Shadow Mario. The star coin is above 2 pillars. Either run and jump to gain the coin or wall jump off of the pillars and hope that you don't land on Shadow Mario.

We're getting real close to the very end of the game!

S-8

Special 8-1 - Don't you just hate Shadow Mario levels? Also, if I'm right, this is Special 1-2 backwards and with a few changes. The first star coin in this level is above the swinging spike bar. Jump over it like a jump rope and grab the coin. When you get to the large platform composed of many crumbling platforms, go to the top of it and jump. The last coin is at the very end right next to the green pipe. Wall jump under the shadow of the star coin to collect it.

Special 8-2 - Before the section with the 2 moles on the small ships, you might see it high in the sky. On the last of the sideways L-shaped spinning platforms, get to the top of it and jump to the star coin. The next star coin requires Tanooki Mario. Now when you do get to the 2 moles, go left of them to see a hidden pipe. Defeat the mole guarding it and go down the pipe. Spin your tail at the block to reveal a spinning wheel. Spin it until you get to the top, then grab the coin. Now go to the very end (the excessively long turning platform). Go to the top of that platform and you might notice the distant star coin. Wait until the platform goes down again, then jump onto the small block that the last star coin is on.

Special 8-3 - At the beginning, on the last... treadmill thing there should be the star coin. Jump at the star coin when the platform just goes underneath it. When you land, quickly jump onto the next platform so you don't touch the lava. When you get to the thwomps, wall jump off of the right side of the first one. The star coin is just to the right of the top of him. When you get to the 3 pillars near the very end, have Shadow Mario destroy them. The leftmost pillar contains the final star coin.

Special 8-4 - Go to the nut on the screw and go the opposite direction. The star coin is on the right side of the screw. Go to the spinning cylinder that floats in the lava. Keep going until you get to the platform on the side of the cylinder. Off the side of the platform is the star coin. Jump off of the platform and quickly change direction once you grab the star coin. For the last star coin in this level, I strongly recommend a Tanooki suit. At the warp box at the end of the level, go on top of the metal surrounding it. Float off of the ride edge (obviously where the coin is) and land safely back on the metal.

So close!!

Special 8-5 - I remember this level well. Too easy for an airship, if you ask me. The first coin is on the ship with the randomly placed blocks. On the bottom left corner is the star coin surrounded by a wall of blocks. The next star coin is in plain sight. When you see it (trust me, you will), walk across the blocks (you have 1 shot because Shadow Mario destroys blocks) and grab the star coin. Jump back onto the ship. At the very end of the level, the final star coin will be on the left side of a spinning platform (the gray one in particular)

HERE WE ARE, FOLKS. Yay.

Special 8-Castle (FINAL-ISH LEVEL!) - Go to the green moving platform. Ride it to the triple item box. Jump on top of the item box so you can reach the first star coin. The second star coin is fairly easy. When you get to the area with the Hammer Bros., the star coin is on the leftmost platform. This is it, the final star coin in the entire game (not including mystery boxes): At the boss battle with Dry Bowser, just before the last bridge, the star coin is on the wall behind you... That was boring for a last coin.

We're done! You're done! You've finished the game 100%! ...Unless... If you get 100% completion (complete game with every star coin and beat every level with both Mario and Luigi, then get to the top of the flagpole every level) then the final level is unlocked. Special 8-Crown is the hardest level in the game if you don't use a Tanooki suit. There are no star coins in this level. Good luck! I just barely unlocked this a few hours ago.

Thank you for reading! All of these walkthroughs are written by me, TheFadedWarrior. If you try to steal these, I will personally murder you in your sleep see to that you are sent to Azkaban forever. kthxbye

If you try to steal these, I will personally murder you in your sleep see to that you are sent to Azkaban forever. kthxbye
