I'm back again with part 2 of my guide for Super Mario 3D Land star coins. Last time I covered worlds 1-4. This time I am covering worlds 5-8. If you require a guide for the first 4 worlds, click here. I hope I assist you in getting 100% completion!

Legal Stuffs: I do not own or work for any Nintendo companies. (Do I even need to include legal information?)

TIPS (copied word for word from part 1)

If you're going for total 100% completion, you have to complete every single level with both Mario and Luigi as well as getting a golden flag on every level.
The best powerup you can have is Tanooki Mario/Kitsune Luigi. Why? Simply because you can slowfall. On the other hand, a few of these require you to be Fire Mario/Luigi.
Some of these coins are very frustrating to get and may require many, many spare lives. Go to the section a little past halfway in world 1-2 with all the koopas. Stand on top of the first item block and walk down off the edge onto the Koopa. Stop walking. You should be constantly bouncing off of the shell and be getting 1-ups rapidly.

Well, then. The second part (of 4 parts) of the walkthrough to getting every star coin!

W-5

Level 5-1 - The first coin is at the very beginning. If you look at the top of your screen, you can see a stone bridge. Walk underneath it and the camera will turn around so you can see a green pipe. Go inside of the pipe, jump up onto the blocks, jump left and grab the star coin, then come back out. When you get to the two thwomps with the Tanooki tails, jump on top of the second one. It should jump up just enough so that you can jump and grab the star coin. The final star coin for this level is located in the section where you stand on the rising tower and try to avoid enemies. Just after the red coin ring appears, the star coin will appear on the right side of the tower. However, it's not actually on the tower so be careful not to fall.

Level 5-2 - At the beginning, jump between the two item blocks. You'll need the fire flower for later. When you get to the room with the spiky spinner, go to the bottom of the room and jump up while holding down. You should land on a hidden area and get the coin. Next, go into the room on the right. Light all torches with Fire Mario's fireballs. It should play a Legend of Zelda jingle. Proceed to the next room and grab your star coin. Come back to the room where you got your first star coin and take the path at the front. When you get to the very long room with the single rolling spike, go to the very end (past the exit door) for the final coin.

Level 5-3 - At the first blue swinging platform you'll notice the star coin in the middle of it. When the swing stops, quickly jump onto it then onto the small block with the star coin. Be careful and accurate when jumping. Sometime later in the level you will find a tall pole to your left. Climb the pole to the top and bounce off of the rainbow note block you find. Finish the cloud course for the star coin. The final coin will be at the section with the 2 moving platforms. Stay on the left one and jump off onto the donut bridges (where the star coin is).

Level 5-4 - The first coin will be at a certain section which I will show you with an image. There are 3 invisible blocks against the wall. You can jump on top of these then onto the area with the star coin. This is where it's located (link). To the left of those blocks is a small hole in the ground. Drop through there and keep going until you get to the moles. Get past the mole on the left and jump up to the next platform for the coin. At some point during the level you will notice a seemingly inaccessible star coin in the wall. Keep climbing until you notice a very short (height-wise) path. Crouch and walk through there. You will then fall onto the coin.

Level 5-5 - Go to the super tall tower of goombas. Just a little further ahead is a giant goomba with a Tanooki tail. To the left of him is a drop. Jump down the drop and once you get the star coin, use the propeller hat to come back up. Keep playing until you see the next one (it's in plain sight between two bouncy platforms). Do the same thing as you did with the first coin. Keep going until you see the last coin (it's in plain sight as well). You can do whatever you want to get it because there are several ways. The simplest: Do what you did in the previous star coins.

Level 5-Castle - The first coin is at the wall with the three thwomps. Go between any two thwomps and wall jump on top of the middle thwomp. The star coin is just above it. The last coin in this level is pretty simple. Past the halfway flag (which is rather at the end) are the moving platforms that are connected together. The star coin is at the end of the platforms' paths.

W-6

Level 6-1 - The first star coin is at the very start (actually before the start) of the level. Jump over the rocks near the top of the screen and you'll see a small area with the star coin. When you get to the midway flag, keep going right. There's a short set of stairs that lead to a green pipe. Go in the pipe and swim to the opposite side of the room. Do not go in the next pipe. Swim to the very top of the screen above the pipe and you should get the star coin. Go through the pipe beneath you and go to the bouncy wire. Hit the winged item block, jump on top of it, jump onto the next bouncy wire, and grab the coin.

Level 6-2 - When you go into the second room, keep going right (don't actually enter the 2nd room) until you hit something. Jump over it and you should be able to keep walking to the star coin. Get to the top of the next room. See that block on the bottom of the wall (stand on the top left corner of the room and it should take you there)? Crush it then crawl through there for the next coin. Continue until you get to the third elevator (the second in the same room). When you get to the top of that elevator, jump left and take the small path up to the star coin. But be careful, because there is a spiky ball generator just behind the coin.

Level 6-3 - Go into the piano room. Walk across the piano until you reach the gap with the coin above it. Simply jump over the gap through the coin. Next, go into the block room. You'll see a short glimpse of the coin before it moves behind the wall. Get to the to the block below the last warp block (counting from left to right) and jump over the wall. Jump and move around there a little bit until you get the coin. The last coin is obviously in the library. If you wait a couple seconds, the bookshelves should slide back and reveal some platforms. Jump across them and when you reach regular ground, move down the carpet and quickly jump when you hit the rail (the star coin moves away from you).

Level 6-4 - At the first door to another room, jump so the mini-thwomp jumps. When he lands, quickly jump on top of him and jump once more. Once he's at the peak of his jump while you're still on top of him, jump onto the ledge above the door for the star coin. This next coin may require Tanooki Mario. At the next door (the one that leads to the halfway flag), wall jump off of the wall it's on and slowfall over on top of the wall for the coin. The last coin may also require Tanooki Mario. Go up the b/y/r stairs. Run, jump, and slowfall over the block that has the spinning sharp beam.

Level 6-5 - The first coin is a bit hard to describe the location of, so I am going to show a picture. The star coin is under the platform that Mario is standing on in this picture (link). Get it? Good. When you get to the 2 tall wooden slabs next to each other, bounce between theme and use them to wall jump. The star coin is at the top. At the end of the level, you should notice the last coin. It's floating in the air below the bouncy platform. Just jump off of the platform through the coin.

Level 6-Airship - The first coin is hidden behind the 5 wooden crates near the beginning. The second coin is above the purple blocks later on. Crouch beneath the blocks and repeatedly jump as fast as you can to get the purple blocks high enough. However, you want to leave the third block somewhat low so you can use it as a stair. Jump on top of the third block, then the other blocks, and finally once more for the coin. When you get to the rising section with the 2 spiked pillars at the end, wall jump on the first platform above the second pillar.

We're getting closer!

W-7

Level 7-1 - Note that this level's coins will require Fire Mario. Go to the underwater section with the 6 crates and the P-switch on top. Destroy the crates and behind them you'll see the star coin. Grab it and continue on until you get to the underwater note block. Bounce off of it. See the purple fish tail poking out? Throw fireballs at it and keep following the tail until you can access the star coin. The last coin is (like always) just before the end of the level. See that very wide hole in the wall? Swim through there and start shooting fireballs so the fish there doesn't come out. Continue shooting until you grab the coin, then swim away and finish the level.

Level 7-2 - After you go through the level awhile, you should notice a small chain jump guarding a red ! block. Avoid the chain chomp and hit the block three times, then jump up the newly created stairs and grab the star coin. Go past the midway flag onto the tipping platform. You'll be able to see the star coin on some donut blocks. Grab it and go to the next area. The star coin will be above a spike platform. Jump up and get it.

Level 7-3 - It's time fo level 7 dash 3, yo!! Anyways, go up the tower a short ways until you get to the long slanted bouncy wire. Stand on the left side of it and bounce as high as possible to get the star coin. Play the level like normal until you go through the warp box. Hit the purple blocks enough so that they go very high. Make sure that you make stairs with them. Climb up your stairs and jump onto and bounce off of the rainbow note block. Complete the cloud course for your coin. When finishing the level, you'll obviously see the last star coin. I don't even need to say how you get it.

Level 7-4 - I love cog levels... Play the level until you get to the pole. Climb to the top of it and jump off to get the coin. Take the path on the right. Follow the path and when you come out onto the ledge, jump to get the coin (if not then wall jump). For this level's final star coin, you want to keep going up to the second L-shaped gear after the warp box. Stand on the tip of one of the gears and wait until it spins around to the star coin.

Level 7-5 - You have to be very quick for this first coin. Play the level until you see the star coin. As fast as possible, jump onto the platform then jump back onto the platform to your right. Do the same for the second star coin just before the midway flag. When you get to the wide moving wooden platform, stay as left as possible (the leftmost rectangle). Once you get the final star coin, you'll either need to quickly jump to the rightmost rectangle or have Tanooki Mario to survive.

Level 7-Airship - This first coin is far too easy. Jump on top of the spinning... thing and wait until it pushes you into the coin. Jump back to the middle of the spinning thing. At the last area with the Kameks, jump on the spinning thing at the top of the screen. The coin is barely visible, but jump once you get there. When you get to the pipe, jump up the ship's stairs and onto the platform above. Jump onto the spinning thing. On one side is a cardboard goomba, on the other side is the star coin.

We're so close!

W-8

Level 8-1 - Before the green pipe, go to the massive spike ball generator. See that red ! block? Hit it a couple times and jump across them to the star coin (I think you can actually just run at full speed across them). At the halfway flag you might notice a block at the corner of 2 walls. Jump on top of it then on top of the highest wall. The star coin is along there. Keep going until you get to the cannon. Do
not go down the pipe. Go in the cannon and aim left. You can see the star coin there. Shoot yourself through it.

Level 8-2 - I suppose you probably already have the first star coin. Jump across the poles and on the third pole, go to the very top and jump off at the coin. The second coin is located at the wheel immediately before the halfway flag, but I suggest you grab the flag first in case you die. Go onto the wheel and jump right onto the donut blocks with the star coin on top. You probably already have the last coin as well. Before the end of the level, on the last pole ride, the coin is on one of the donut blocks. Grab it and jump back onto the pole.

Level 8-3 - The first coin requires Tanooki Mario. As you'll see just after the cardboard goomba, there's a small ship with a Tanooki wheel on it. You know the drill. Spin it and jump over to the coin. After you pass the midway flag, you might see the second star coin. On the top left spinning block is the star coin (it's on only one of the sides). How is the last one even possible to miss? It's right next to the warp box past the long spinning block.

Level 8-4 - Go to the green railing. Quickly jump onto the right button and walk over to the edge of it. If you're quick enough, you should get the coin. If not, you'll have to wall jump to grab the coin. When you get to the large, spinning, circular checkerboard, "kill" all the ghosts with your star power. Once they're gone you can be safe to grab the coin on the edge. On the carpet ride, once you get to the star coin, face it from the left side. A big boo will appear once you get close to it.

Level 8-5 - On the last red/blue platform in the first area, the first star coin is on the blue platform. The second coin is on top of the mole just past the midway flag. Be careful when you jump on top of the grate! The third and final coin (that's the 100th time I've said coin btw) in this level is inside of the mystery box. Wall jump off of the wall to grab the coin (don't try and jump on top of the mole, you'll get hurt).

Level 8-Castle 1 - When you get to the 2 poles and the 2 large lava spurts, the star coin is at the very bottom of the second pole. The second powerup requires a boomerang. Where are you supposed to get a boomerang? Right where this coin is! Defeat the boomerang bros. and shoot a boomerang between the left platform and the middle platform leading to the purple carpet. Yes, boomerangs collect star coins. The last coin in this level is also requiring of a boomerang. At the boss battle, after you've jumped across the moving spheres in the lava, there's a platform with a bouncy wire on the edge of it. Instead of going to the bouncy wire, go to the opposite edge. Jump and fire your boomerang at the star coin.

Level 8-6 - When you get to the screw with the nut on it (with the Kamek over it), go the wrong way (away from the warp box) until you get to the star coin. The second star coin in this level is during the part where you have to roll the metal tube. When you get to the platform with the raised box in the middle with the blue timer on top, jump on top of it and let it sink. Once it sinks far enough, you'll get the star coin. And finally, the last coin in this level is at the warp box at the end of the stage. The round frame surrounding it has a star coin on one side.

And now... It's time for THE FINAL LEVEL. To make it more exciting, I even planned that out to be the 50th word "level" in my guide (and I succeeded, too).

Level 8-Castle 2 ("Final" Boss) - This first coin in this not so epic level is at the first part where fireballs shoot as you. When the skeleton car pulls a U-turn, the coin is just above you. Jump to get it. The second coin is where dry bones is (the third total raising platform). When the platform rises, wall jump and grab the coin. And now... It's time for THE FINAL COIN. To make it more exciting, that was the 118th word "coin." Anyhow, when the volleys of two and three fireballs are shooting at you, the coin is in the middle of the track at the end of the track.

THE END...?

Thanks for using my guide! I hope I helped you in getting 100% completion!

HAHAHAHAHA. I'M DONE. WITH THE AGONY. OF WRITING THIS. What's this? There's 8 special worlds? B-but... OK then.

Thanks! Stay tuned for parts 3 and 4!

Ok, this one is very long, but it's also helpful. The later worlds are a bit more challenging of course.
